it's almost like the devs that left took their work and used it for a new game.

Well, he does have a point.

If you look at the screenshots of both games with one eye closed, and the other also about halfway to full closed (twiching a bit, lots of bit actually, untill it really starts to water and everything becomes a blur) then they look kinda the same.

Oh, both of them can be reached by hyperlinks!  So if you just look at the hyperlinks, they're both a bunch of ASCII characters!

OP, when you see one of those "links" you have to "Click it."  Depress the left button of your computer mouse while the cursor is over the link and you will see actual shots of the game.  You can usually tell these links because the text changes color.  Also an "http:" followed by some characters is a good sign.

He does have a point. People don't remember that Tabula Rasa, when it first started, was extremely high fantasy. I can easily see it as a spiritual predecessor.

clarification... sci fi/high fantasy esque

thought that was established over a year ago... thats why TR has sucked ass for so long, they left a skeleton crew to update the game.

remove all the chatracters and just look at the world. aion probably has the same pr team too since TR got craploads of hype before it bombed too.

Interesting observation.

Tabula Rasa and Aion have however very little in common other than NCsoft as a publisher, much like Guild Wars and Aion, or City of Heroes and Lineage II. :)

that remains to be seen. i mean i certainly hope it isnt an over-hyped POS, but i have 0 faith in NCsoft at this point.

NCsoft is not your usual company, they only developed 2 games (Lineage 1 and Lineage 2), both of which are 2 of the 3 most successful MMO's ever, and Lineage 1 was the ground breaker, the first really successful MMO ever, and first one to hit 1kk subscribers.

TR was made by Destination Games and run at NCsoft Austin, the horrible company that let NA L2 goto ****, but that company is gone and its now NCsoft West, and what they are doing with bots in L2 right now, and Guild Wars at least gives me high hopes for Aion. TR also was a great game around the time it closed, it started out so bad and was irreprably damaged, it became a great game eventually, but there was nothing they could do, it had to be closed.

I've played the KOBT for Aion, and like that it was already better than any other MMO out there.

My only worries are the bots, and NCsoft West's dedication to get rid of them, but if they do what they're doing in L2 right now, we should be fine...I'm not worried about bugs or class balancing, cause just look at their other games, L2 has 35 classes and all but 2 are balanced and the best for their role.

Thats sort of not true... Ultima Online was the first big MMO, followed by EQ. Hardly anyone has ever heard of Lineage outside of Asia, and Asian MMOs always have a ton of people in crappy games.

What's not true on his statement? UO didn't reach 1M concurrent subs, while Lineage did, so even if you consider those games "crappy" Im sorry, but they were a hit. You're confusing your opinion with facts.

Everything is not for everybody.

People always confuse their opinions with facts. Asia is the MMO Kingdom. MMOs over there are like sports over here. The Lineage series is still the most played PTP MMOs world wide next to World Of Warcraft. Games like Everquest and Ultima Online are not even close.

SignusM is just a Darkfall fanboy, please go spam ignorance elsewhere.

The West has nothing V.s. the millions upon millions of Asian players in Korea, China, Japan, Thailand, SEA (malaysia, singapore, Philipines, etc), other East Asian countries in terms of game population numbers, such as Ragnarok when it first came out, over 20 million...(same with Lineage 2 at one point in time also).

No, Asian MMO's "dont always have a ton of people". if you really think that you need to educate yourself badly.

So because it was more successful in Asia it suddenly doesn't count? I can spin it around, Nobody ever heard of Everquest outside of the US and small parts of Europe. Lineage 1's subscribtion numbers dwarfed those of Everquest and Ultima Online, and Lineage was released before EQ.

I realize this is just a troll

but

this is one of the most bizzar comparisons ever.

Games, above all else, are about fun. MMORPG's are no different. If you are not having fun, find something else to do with your time and money and stop your bitchin.
