I have been playing lotro lately but 3 months ago i quit for my school work was getting to much, I have decided to re sub but instead of lotro was thinking of trying WoW. So i was just wondering if it is to late to start WoW seeing as i can only play about 15 hours a week. But i really would like to be in the hard core enviroment of raiding which we do not have as much on of lotro. |

Any new or returning player to WOW, send me a PM for some help getting started. |
15hrs a week? Probably a month to get to 60, another month to get to 70, another month to get to 80, another month to get geared for raiding. In 4 months you should be ready for Naxx. Honestly, I don't think 15hrs per week and hardcore raiding go together unless you already are in a dedicated guild who is going to plug you into their roster and carry you for a few months. The good thing with WOW is that all raid content can be seen in 10 man groups. ................................................ |

well thats just it i dont no if i should try to play if i cant be able to raid since i hear its all what this game is about. I would love to put more then 15 hours a week in but with school, work and hockey i would have absolutly no social life. So is this a bad idea to try to play WoW if you dont have all the free time in the world? |

I'm in one of the better raiding guilds on my server and I don't raid at all. I just don't like it. I do 5-man dungeons for reward tokens, I gather stuff to sell on the auction house, I PVP outdoors, I do battlegrounds, I take my time with the quests. My gear is not what it could be, but why should I care? I'm not raiding, so I don't need it. PVP isn't much more difficult because if the raiders PVP they mostly do it in arenas where the rewards are best. There is plenty to do in the game, and how much time you can devote doesn't matter because there are millions of other people like you playing it, and millions more who raid but also enjoy playing the old content casually on their alts. I strongly recommend an RP-PVP server. The PVP part scares off the hardcore roleplayers, and the RP part offends the chest-pounding serious business PVP types. In my experience the people on the RP-PVP servers are more chilled out and more tolerant of other people's different play styles than elsewhere. einexile the meek |

Well, it is not too late off course. Try out a free trial for it and see if you like the game. You could also try EQ2, it have a lot off good raiding in it and is also worth a try if you like group play and RAIDs. With 15 hours a week you might have too look around a bit for a good RAID guild that accepts you, many of them demands that you play a certain number of hours a week. However I play just a litle bit more and spent a lot of time raiding (that was in EQ2 however, but the basics is the same), I wasn't in any RAID guild either but I learned to know some people that use to plan RAIDs and if you are good there is rarely a problem. Wow do have nice RAIDs but it isn't the only game with it (however do EQ2s solo play suck badly, you more or less need a group to have any fun there, Wow is superior both there and in the PvP aspect) so you should really do the trial of both games to find the one that you like best. There are few games out there that it is too late to start with anyways, in my book UO, EQ, SWG and TR are too late, otherwise do a free trials you can find, you'll probably find a game that clicks perfect for you. Wow is the most popular so it do have good odds but there are actually many other good games out there too, if you get the feeling that it isn't really great (like LOTRO was) then just do a trial of something else, all people have a little different taste Good luck. |

Play Guild wars, No matter how casual or hard core you play there is always something to do in Guild wars, content for the casual player and the hard core player, the game is 100% based on your skill NOT your gear. So you can be the guy who is using really shitty looking level 20 cap gear, that looks like its basic cloth stuff, vs a guy who looks like he is the arch mage of the kingdom, and kick his ass. The only thing that changes is the looks, the cheep end game gear is like 12 platinum which has the same identical stats as the Best end game sets which are over 100 platinum.
If you have time for wow it is never to late to play wow, That game is going to have new players re subscribing to it in 2012 still.
AND just FYI Lord of the rings online is IN EVERY WAY more casual and community oriented less of get to end game as fast as possible competition than wow is. Iv played both. LOTRO is MUCH more casual than wow. |

While most of what you say is true, I don't agree about the community element, and it seems like people are very obsessive about their solo play. It's not a friendly environment if you want to group outside of your guild, and for a game whose PVP element is of no real consequence to anyone, I have rarely seen PVPers so angry and serious business about the whole thing. I'll second what you said about Guild Wars. Though there's quite a bit of skill farming (or purchasing) to be done if you want to be competitive in PVP, the PVE game is the reason to play it and it's really easy to get pickup groups at almost any location. People are also a lot more helpful there, maybe because to PVE you don't need a guild, so there aren't a lot of people who will only PVE with guildmates. And GW Factions is still the most beautiful game ever made. einexile the meek |

LOL. You've been listening to the wrong people. Casual players are the backbone of WoW and anyone who says that casuals can't raid haven't met me. If you're not willing to put 4 months into it, then you're just not willing to attempt it, but it can be done. |
