my bro and i are about to play..its tradition for us to start playing together over the holidays when we have more time.. anyway..

what would work better?

priest + warrior            OR

paladin + warrior

my bro is hellbent on being a warrior, so that cant change. BUT, i was wondering if the idea of being a sustainable duo is pointless because later in the game we will just be using potions left and right anyway, and if thats true, i would just assume go mage or warlock.

help?

Paladin warrior works just fine, you need to focus on faster kills paladin can help kill fast and has high deffense. If you are on a pvp server i think paladin warrior would survive longer to an ambush too.

If your brother is going to play a warrior, I'd recommend playing a druid. Since you said you might play a mage or warlock instead....A druid fits perfectly. A druid can tank, melee DPS, caster DPS, and can heal. So, you can spec restro if you want to heal your buddy or if you enjoy it, or if your brother isn't playing or what not, you can go caster DPS as a Boomkin and put out massive DPS. You also have the utility of being to switch to tanking, heals, DPS, as well as having rezz, battle rezz, buffs, debuffs, and crowd control. How can you go wrong? :)

Also my main was a lock pre-wrath of the lich king, which I started to level my alt 70 druid which has now became my main.......and the Druid owns in PvP :P

I'd tell your brother to try a death knight before he settles on a warrior.  In my humble opinion, the death knight is what the warrior SHOULD have been all along.  Death Knights are actually quite viable because of their self healing abilities and shouldn't need a Priest or Paladin.  A Death Knight paired with a Mage or Warlock might be tough to stop.
 

Now if you are both starting brand new characters, that's not possible, but he could level up a warrior to 55 and then switch to a death knight and really wouldn't lose anything.

I'd recommend a feral druid also.    Feral druids by themselves have very little downtime.  Warriors will have a bit of downtime for healing, but a feral druid can easily handle that and make things much faster.  Also there are a ton of combat synergies between the two of them.... shouts, bleeds, leader of the pact (and improved lotp).   The two of you together will blow through quests really fast.  

I'd really suggest 'you' not play a healer.   WIth questing and leveling, it really isn't needed for you to spec healing.   Play a DPS spec of a healing class and you will completely eliminate downtime and kill fastest.  ( Ret pally,  enhance shaman, shadow priest or feral druid).   But like I said, I think feral druids offer the most synergies for a warrior.
