I voted for Stargate Worlds by CME. It is be designed as a MMOFPS for the most part, but with alot of classic MMO bells and whistles. Assuming that they stay true to the huge PvP potential of of it's IP and actually create the content they are planning on, then I believe that we will see the FPS crowd really enjoy and push this one. Right now CME's biggest issue is that the MMO Community as a whole knows little about this new game. CME needs to get the word out better. If I had a second vote it would be Darkfall. Even with all the bad press, controversy is justas good for advertising a game as applause. A lot of MMO Players are watching what is happening with Darkfall and that alone will generate some sales and hype. I like the design of Darkfall (what I know of it) and I think it will be a winner assuming they meet their January 22nd 2009 launch date. Any further delays at this point could kill a good launch no matter how good the game is. One very important thing that all future MMOs will need to compete in this marketplace is advertising. WoW is a good game, was designed well, had a good fanbase when it started out. But with even all that success was not guaranteed. IMHO what put WoW over the top in subscriptions was their aggressive marketing and PR campaign. Where I live almost every store larger than a convience store/gas station has the game for sale, even if it's only the $1.99 free trial disk. That kind of marketing I believe is what is responsible for a large share of WoW's continued success. Any new MMO in the future that wants to compete will have to follow in suit even just to break into the market with a good launch in subscriptions. |

Lots of Players like PvP and lots of Players like dark and sinister game worlds (whether the admit it or not). |

What will be "best" is tricky, as it's a matter of opinion. I think SW:TOR will end up with the most people thinking it's the best though (i.e. most subscribers). Darkfall is a good outsider. |

Hands down Star Wars: The Old Republic. Its by far the biggest game announcemnt of 2008. I seriously think Bioware and LucasArts have a chance to pwn the whole MMO genre. When we get back from where we are going, we will return to where we were. I know people there! |

I'm hoping that Earthrise will be one of the best, biggest reason for that would be that it's not lvl based and that they are going for player run economy like EVE and the extensive crafting system where the players create the best gear possible in the game and ofcourse that it's going to be sci-fi. But from the ones on that list i would problably say Aion. |

Aion, from that list...otherwise Rapture from Square-Enix and possibly Ragnarok 2, but it doesn't look like its come to NA anytime soon |

I have high hopes for Bioware's Star Wars MMO. And let's face it, we don't know what it is but I'm sure everyone is wondering what Blizzard has under development... |

I am watching Darkfall, Infinity quest for earth, and Aion. But infinity is looking AMAZING for a very small independent team.

The MMO genre as a whole is a running joke considering a 5+ year old game is so dominant. |

Honestly..I don't see much hope for any of them. Possibly the star wars one, but I'm guessing the hype will kill it well before it releases. It will never live up to people's pipe dreams. Maybe the one CCP is doing...the whitewolf IP. Dunno though.

GW being listed here is not an error. It was not originally listed..but the members of this site demanded it. Just thought I'd clear that up if no one else had yet.

From the list, it's Star Wars, but ones to keep an eye out are, 38 studios with Coppernicus, Red5 with their mistery piece, Guild Wars 2 and of course, the one that will cast a giant shadow over all of them; Blizzard next MMO (thank heavens it's still years and years away so we can jump into few diferent expiriences untill MMO space as we know it changes, again)

interesting that not one person said Huxley. Though technically it's not a mmoRPG is it? I'm not sure. I'm not saying it will be big just interesting that everything is so very quiet about it. |

I guess you should include atlantica online, even though the game is at is late development stages the game continues to undergo add-ons in terms of new maps and characters. I can see that the large percentage in your poll voted on Others. This maybe one of the reason why. |
