They are really firing the big guns this Christmas. I strongly believe that if they cannot turn AoC around before the year is over, they might have to sell AoC in January.

 

And what do you base that belief on? They still run the AO servers so cutting down the cost of servers by merging them will make the game be able to run for quite some time still. And there is no way they can manage to turn AoC around and gets tons of subscribers this year unless everyone buys it in christmas presents and fire up their account again. You know it just as well as me that turning a MMO around takes time, they are on the right track, the game keeps improving and by Q1 2009, you might see the first resulkts when itemization and balance has been reworked. I doubt we will see the masses returning the remaining weeks of this year.

Lol, that comparison is so obviously bullshit.

If I remember correctly those shadows and light beams where there as well in the DX9 version of the forest, and the one with the campfire just has foliage disabled, and the drawing distance much closer.

Looks like a marketing guy had some fun dragging some sliders around, and then posted the ugly version as DX9 and the normal version as DX10.

Good going with the lying Funcom.

If you remember correctly yes, there is an IF  here keep that in mind. But  since you so clealry knows how Dx10 should look please enlighten me on it. :)

Plus there is all the extra effects that have been added in over the past few months of  further development to come that weren't even announced back then. In beta the options were there too and some people reported a difference however it was just a check box really for most part.

There were many conventions were dx10 was shown but ultmately the choice to postpone it was received badly but proved to be the right choice in improving other things that needed the attention more so(whether that fully worked out or not at the time).

Now we have partial DX10 coming to test server probably next week, and although away for xmas I intended to do a before and after video with performance in those area where it is available. As the patches go on throughout the next 8 weeks or so ( I reckon it will be on test) I also believe they will keep adding in extra's in this area as time goes on (previous test server update game notes testify logic to this, and there is currently no reason I can think of otherwise to think it won't go like this at this time)

However, did you see that "* Resource items will now have a chance of dropping in PvP. These will be PvP Resource items (a new mechanic introduced in Update 1.04). More info to follow..." from which one the dev's said "These resources will be found in one of the border kingdoms"

Also looking forward to these 3 new area's, especially the 2 new level 80 ones :)

Cradle of Decay - Level 43 group instance, accessed through Field of the Dead
* Xibaluku - Level 80 group instance
* The Slaughterhouse Cellar - Level 80 single player instance
* Players can now desocket/delete gems in their items by opening the info view of the item and using the shift-rightclick menu on a gem. Desocketing will require a potion crafted by an alchemist. The recipe for this item drops in Xibaluku.

pfft, not worth coming back. if it was so difficult to optimize the game for DX10 then why Funcom had the nerve to say before launch and print on the game box that DX10 was in the game? No thanks, I will never buy a game from them.

yeah I didn't read that much about the reasource thing, it sounds like what I was asking for on the forums a couple of years back (dunno if you remember me as banok from forums). I'd like to know more, but if this is done well it could revive pvp from is vegative kheshetta zerg state.

am definatley going to come back at some point, I waiting for server merges and them to make minigames share servers (less probable?).

I remember mate :)  I find it curious that a dev said in "One" of the border kingdoms. It looks like that are branching it out more, if "PVP resources only drop in this one area then and they turn out important then it's surely a good thing. I like to PvP and I like to craft :) The crafting needs a little bit more loving for my tastes but the new craft guy looks to have a good plan.

Not saying I agree or disagree with you, but do you have a link for that statement? I wouldn't think FC would be that outright as to mention the feature did absolutley nothing to improve graphics.

If only SW:TOR could be this epic...

There was not a DX10 exe in beta. DX10 requires Shader model 4, which was not in CB either.

Not long to go now and it will be in even better than intended something which the haters will be hard pressed to disagree with.

Holy sheit, the new patch rock. How can it be fcking bigger than last one.lol...lol...lol... My god. ANother midrange level dungeon. 2 more lvl 80 dungeons. DX10, more performance increases, and a ton of new content in general. Ohhhh man, I am looking forward to when this hits live server.

Holy sheit, the new patch rock. How can it be fcking bigger than last one.lol...lol...lol... My god. ANother midrange level dungeon. 2 more lvl 80 dungeons. DX10, more performance increases, and a ton of new content in general. Ohhhh man, I am looking forward to when this hits live server.

 

For me this new patch offers nothing interesting. More PvP content is needed and bad. Everything else is just fluff.

Oh, and it might take as long as 2 months before this patch goes to live server. They haven't even set any dates yet so it'll probably go to testlive sometime next year.
