Are Hunters really as bad as what people are saying in pvp?

Or is this just the stupid people that just rolled a hutner to have a pet?

No, hunters are not bad at PvP. It's just a lot of people don't know how to properly spec them FOR PvP. I'd recommend using WoWwiki to find a go PvP spec. I'm a PvE sort of person, so when I do PvP for fun, I don't even bother respeccing and I do just fine. It's an epic battle with the rogues which is a lot of fun for me... a hunter catches a rogue first, the rogue is as good as dead. A rogue catches the hunter off guard, the hunter is as good as dead. Ah, fun times. xD

People who complain that Hunters aren't good for PvP are usually people who are Beast Masters who don't understand the role of a pet.

Hunters suck, I never invite them to groups.

I played a hunter up to 35 at one time, and they seem like a good strong class and able to control their environment well................SOLO only !

Because they are so in control in solo they think their God.   Most that play them are new to WoW, and have no idea how to play in groups.

Never ever take a hunter into Scarlet Monastery, cause you would be fighting everything at the same time.  They send their pet ahead and NEVER wait, only for the mobs to call more mobs !

Warlocks often pull the same crap, with Void Walkers. Asking a Warlock to use their imp, is like asking a 4 year old not to eat the candy from the candy jar.

One out of five Hunters and Warlocks are good, but to risky to ask them !

Well grouping is a lot different than PvP. And yes, there are A LOT of moron hunt"ards" out there. But there are a lot of gems too and Hunters can be really useful as a source of constant DPS for bosses.

It's always good to pre-screen hunters or make friends with the good ones. As a Hunter myself, w hen I play Priest, I always sorta throw in a question to the Hunter and if they know what they're doing, they'll answer it right. :3 I do it in an indirect way though... GOOD Hunters are sensitive about the Huntard thing. After all, it isn't THEIR fault that 75% of their class or more are a bunch of pet-happy guys. xD

Oh, and the beginning levels are always disasterous. Most new players to the game role hunters first.

Unfortunately you played with Hunters and Warlocks that don't know how to play there class. I have a level 70 Hunter and Warlock (also Rogue and Druid) and in any group my pet goes on passive and does not engage anything until the tank has agro. If it looks like the pet might pull adds he stays at my side. Unless FG spec, I always used imp in a group for the buffs and as a mana battery, too many locks think a VW can tank a dungeon but it never holds agro for more than a nano second and it's dps is terrible.

Back to the OPs question. Hunters are one of the most versatile classes in PvP, expecially before end-game when gear comes into play more than skill.

Hunters went from kings of pvp at lvl 60 to weaksauce, thats why a lot of player see hunters as bad in the meanwhile. There are some other issues like burst dmg in pvp which did got lowered with every expansion pack. And if you consider to play arena with a hunter, you will get not the best options in comparison to other classes. Yeah in certain parts of  pvp, hunters got a lot worse than in the core game. Hunters are still fun of course, but they have seen their better days already.

I dont think players dont know how to play or how to spec since the forums are full of informations.

Well unfortunatly I forgot to meantion I am not making a hunter lol I have 190 some days played into one already... lvl 70 & I was considering making a new character...

Death Knights... well there are to many atm for my liking so I have been considering Ret paladin... but then again from playing other characters.... if you have healing abilites you are pretty much required to heal & if you do anythin else you are kicked from groups

Unless that has changed since I last played a hybrid type class back when a druids innervate was a talent O.o

Hunters are fine in pvp.... well, good hunters....

In PvE hunters are ridiculous. Scrub hunters in quest blues pulling twice as much damage as well geared rogues? You better believe it. In fact I believe blizzard have even stated that hunter dps is too high, and may get nerfed.
