Guild Wars 2

"A full 250 years after the original Guild Wars, massive upheavals, cataclysms, and globe-spanning events have changed the world of Tyria. Human civilization is in decline. Other races are rising up, taking control over large portions of the world; the balance of power has shifted. The dragons have awoken. " blah blah blah....

anyways Anet a keeping very hush hush about this new game i mean frickin SW:OR was just announced and they have screenshots, now its expected to be released or go into beta 2009/10, so another year away and they'll be about 6 players still playing GW.  As one of thoose mmorpg that i consider to have somesort of realism (no cartoonie anime shite or WoW style) and with the disapointment in AOC this is really one of the only games ive been looking forward too and i would like to see at least some trailers or sneak peaks into whats going on down there, i live close to seatle so dont make me come down there!  this concludes my rant about nothing. chin chin.

Will Guild Wars 2 be any different to GW1?

Of Course you fool its got a 2 after it. duh.
well theyll update graphics but at the core its the same
Didnt they already do a guild wars 2 its called GW: Factions.
to the answer # 3 no you dumbass thats a expansion anways. No it will pretty much be the same.
this time the race is to level 80 or seomthing. yay im lvl 80. lets play Wow.
It will revolutionise gaming. again.
errr......maybe

ok im not saying theres no skill to it but Cookie cutter builds kinda take the skill out of most of it, i mean theres guild in the top 50 how henchwayed and Sineptitude there way up there, coming up with these builds does require some good mount of skill tho

The fact that AI is better than most humans in some buids, does not reduce the value of the game.

You can find, today, computers that win in chess facing any human, so is chess unbalanced ? does not require skill ?

The fact is, GW GVG is tons of fun and offers a good fight where tactics and skill will win your game, not grind or gear.

I'm looking forward to it, since GW was a multi player  lobby game, not a true MMORPG, and apparently GW2 will be an actual MMORPG.

TWILIGHT ONION!

If it has an endless level cap I wont play it. I am a BIG guild wars fan, and I mean BIG Iv been playing it for more than 3 years. However I will NOT play GW2 If it has an endless grind.  I don't really care if the stats stop increasing after level 50, or whatever. I really don't care to grind to a endless level. for me Knowing that little number that indicates my level is at the top of the chart the top it can be, makes me happy, I very often look at my character stats in FFXI  that I am level 75. It just makes me feel a little bit proud to have reached it. Same goes for all my online games, If there is no max level I will never be able to play this game without feeling out of place or simply have a nagging while I play the entire time.

I hate it when people say Guild Wars is not an MMORPG. Guild Wars is an online game that is played with a massive amount of online players. Thus it is an MMORPG.

You know what the criteria is? It is listed on this site. Therefore it is an MMORPG.

Whatever you want to call it, there is a difference between lobby games, like Diablo and Guild Wars, and the standard MMORPG like EQ, EQ2, VAnguard, WoW, WAR, DAoC, LotRO, AoC, and so on.

Some people dont' see any difference between the two, some people prefer one over the other.

What terms would you like to use to distungish between the two types of games? I'm happy to use whatever terms you're comfortable with.

The GW people either have nothing to talk about, or don't want to.Our response should be to move along.Pay attention to companys and games that want our attention....NOW.

This is the only MMO I am actually looking forward to. GW1 has  great pvp. Anet did such a great job with GW1 I expect this to be amazing! The mists sound awesome!

I too am interested in GW 2..from what I know. FACTIONS.....24/7 faction fighting.Great concepts to start with.But...as I said ...they are not ready to talk about the game..so why  keep peering into the fog looking for game details when the company is choosing not to reveal any beyond some initial comments.

Can Diablo hold as many players in one game as Guild Wars? No way. Ever go to a large city in Guild Wars during an event and see 100 people standing around? It is an MMO. DIablo II is a lobby game, not Guild Wars.

GW2 will probably have some very interesting stuff in it.

I find it amazing the developers who have never even been in a fist fight, or designing fighting mechanics.

Only games with more than 1M players are massively multiplayer, that leaves us with WoW and GW, the others are mORPGs. m = minor. I get your point.

I just hope they aren't going to be raid-centric (!!!!!), item-centric, level-based and just another wow clone...

But I will keep an eye out as I this is a company who have shown they dare to go down new roads..

What's your point?

No I haven't played GW because it is dated now and I have spend my time over the years in SWG, COH, WoW, AoC, WAR, EVE.. etc.

But I have read a lot and so far the company sticks out to me in a postive way.

However I hope the game will be a fresh take on the mmo genre and not just another wow clone.

GW 2 is changing to a larger world with less instances so it could be both good and bad!

the only really problem about GW1 and which i think they are going to fix in GW2 is character advancement beyond max level.  In gw1 you could get to max level in a day of solid gaming and then have no real problem finishing the story line.

The only things you had to advance (PvE Wise) your character really are some prestige armor and weapons (which are the same as regular armor/weapons but more pretty), you could get some grind some titles which has little benifet except for chest running,  and the fact theres no crafting.

In PvP you can again get titles that give you emote of a deer, wolf, tiger, phoenix and dragon (1person has the dragon and you need to sell you soul and you sister for it), you can get other titles that correspond to the type of PvP you do.

A very cool aspect of GW is Alliance Battles and i hope they bring this over to GW2, this is where you fight as a luxon or kurzick (whatever one you guild is alligned to) and your reward is Balthazar faction points (which can be used to unlock skills, armor and weapons for PvP) and Kurzick/Luxon Faction points (which can be used to trade in for materials for armor in pve ). the K/L Faction can also be used towards your guilds total where you can take over a certain Town in the guilds wars:factions where you have acess to cheaper merchants and thats it really, other than if your not alligned to the faction thats holding that certain town you cant use the merchants there.

err i think thats everything maybe i cant remember why im even writing this now shit

Didn't like GW1 alot, but it was acceptable. But GW2 really does sound like a boring grinding game like WoW or some random asian mmorpg. No thanks.
