Yeah, SOE's tact in that instance was on par with the DnL scam I've read so much about.

I personally feel that it would be difficult to trump DnL (or maybe Mourning) for that title.  I'm withholding judgment until it releases or the company folds.

Darkfall won't be a joke, unless it releases and turns out to be as bad as Dark and Light, or it may be that with all the fan hype, Darkfall will be a joke unless it turns out to be the best MMORPG we've seen in a decade. It may be that after all the fan hype, even if it were just a decent MMORPG, it would be a joke because it didn't live up to half the claims of the rabid fans.

I've played Age of Conan at launch, and while I don't still play the game, the game worked well at launch and I had no crashes, no visible bugs that I noticed and I had high frame rates during peak game times and never got below like 50 fps, mostly about 80 fps. The game was even kinda fun, but some elements of the game I didn't care for.

Now compare that to Dark and Light or Age of Mourning.

..You have no idea what you are talking about stating that Age of Conan is the biggest joke in the industry. It is still a better game then 95% of all the Chinese/Korean mmo games out there and runs better/smoother.

However, you basicly are freaking out and saying that Darkfall has the same issues as every other MMO.

Big name MMO's done by well known developers and/or companies... all have the same exact issues.  Somehow you make it seem unique to Darkfall...

Or even that its a mystery these things can/do happen.

The biggest joke imho would be the companies that spend 70 to 100 million to release a toilet fish... A small developer with almost no budget that releases a game in the same state for much less would be less of a joke...

Game could be vaporware.. I'm not a share holder, an employee and I haven't spent any money on a product that isn't out yet.  So I'm not sure exactly why it would be much of a concern for me if it was vapor ware.

The other things you listed as I've said.. are pretty standard for an MMO. 

Unless you can point me to the game that launched with all the advertised features, didn't cut classes or cities ... or put stuff off to an expansion and most importantly.. launched in perfect working order.

I remember some really good launched (like DAoC) but there was still many broken/unfinished things in the game.

I don't particularly see where you're coming from with this one, Zeblade.  The OP is concerned that Darkfall will turn out poorly, and that Aventurine's forums are being cleansed of naysayers...

It's another eye-opener.  Perhaps he was "too" vocal, like myself... Or perhaps he was doing just as he said, and they're getting uptight because someone upstairs doesn't want the public to know just how badly fans of the game are being treated.  We don't know.

All of those are much worse than DF and it is not even close.

That being said....does DF have the POTENTIAL to beat one of those 4...of course. It if never releases.  If it ends up being some tinfoilhat scam.  If it is so bad on release that it cant keep servers up past a month or two.  All of those are just some example of how it could be more of a joke than some of the above.

But for right now....no, not even close.

It's not a public discussion forum it's their companies website, of course they are going to ban you.  If you owned a business and someone was trying to bring you into disrepute on it you would do the same.  If it was was EA's website you would get banned from the game as well.

I have, and will continue to wave a yellow flag as far as this game goes. Is it a joke? Not yet, but it definately has the possiblity of becoming one. Which is unfortunately a greater possibility than the game has of delivering on all of it's promises, and or being a success.

I won't pass judgement, and I won't scream 'Vaporware!', (though I might refer to it as Darkfail on occasion just to rile somebody) but I will say that people shouldn't allow their expectations for this game to get too high. Being open PvP it is going to have one of the most offensive communities in gaming. Not everyone can win every fight, and some people can't handle losing well, and still more people don't know how to win with any manner of civility. Thus the game, even if it is as good as it's supposed to be, will tear itself apart from the inside.

 I would put Darkfall in the same category as Dark and Light which was the biggest failure and fraud that the MMO industry has seen so far.

Darkfall may not be a fraud (if it ever comes out), but I think many are going to be extremely let down.  Heck, Darkfall may even be the "downfall" of MMOs.  Let's hope not, but it may.  I think people have too much hope invested in this one.

Is this the court of law? I do not need to "prove beyond a reasonable doubt" that the Darkfall devs are hiding something, that they have horrible PR, or the company in general is run by incompetent people. I posted exactly what they're doing, you can come to your own conclusions but everything I have been saying are valid.

Darkfall is turning out to be one of the biggest FRAUDS in mmo history.

Not hard to figure it out. They invited selected friends, family, and forum moderators. Basically people who they knew they could control. The point is that they're not holding what most people would describe as a closed beta and they mislead their users from the start about the beta.

You might not like the game but AOC runs fine and actually exists. It's a bad game that under-performed but it's one of the top selling US mmo's of all-time as far as boxed copies go.

Big deal. The website has been online for 8-10 years and the vast majority of those are not active users. The fact that they tricked so many people to sign-up for a beta that hasn't happened or more than one occasion is a big reason for why the place is a joke.
