Remember he used the word “scheduled” to end in early December, so he can get out of this one easily by just saying they are behind on this schedule without any further clarification. This is similar to when he said earlier this year that public beta would precede launch by a “few weeks“. But then later backtracked saying public beta would not be “two weeks” but they hoped it would only be “several weeks”, but it would be as long as needed. The thing that is much harder for Tasos and Aventurine to get out of is this official company commitment to launch within 2008 that is not a guestimate, they have mentioned this several times and on the 17 min video also. What’s makes it even harder to get out of is their previous statements saying they would not announce a date as only a goal or one that they would then miss, postpone, or be forced to release unfinished to meet. Not to mention they have also said they are “resolved” to stick with their release date and theirs no way they would miss their release date. A very sticky position to be in, of course only people who have actually read or remember what Aventurine have said exactly over the past year concerning beta and release will appreciate this. |

Sorry, I don't believe anything about this game; personally, I think it is vaporware. I want to believe this game is coming out, but with zero leaks and minimal information released, I have very little confidence in this game becoming a reality. Of course, they can prove me wrong and no one would be happier than myself.

The game will be ready for release, and the launch may follow directly, or shortly after, depending on the marketing landscape at the time. Obviously the earlier the better for us, but there are a lot of things needing coordination for the launch, internal and external. So our side of things (meaning the development end) will be ready."
I think Tasos has already really announced the delay of the games launch in October 31st update part 1. Apparently marketing considerations and their landscapes as well as a lot of external and internal things that need coordination might delay the launch of the game even though actual development will be finished and the game will be ready for release. So basically what I think Tasos is saying is we have done are part but the publisher and other partners might hold up the launch and be a cause for delay, but its not are fault because the game will be ready for release. Blaming their publisher or GNi or the state of the market or anything else beyond their control for the launch delay could buy Aventurine some more time, but I’m not sure how much. |

it's obvious now that the game is there, all the main features are there, and the game is likely to be fairly popular (bearing in mind it is unapologetically hardcore). we can also definitely say the graphics are better than most of us expected (with some minor animation ugliness for a couple of races/sexes).
the only questions that matter at this point are: how good/stable is the game and when will it be released?
i think for sure there are external people in the beta right now but i don't think the scaled-up "open" beta has started yet, or we'd have heard about it by now.
08 release is looking unlikely i agree, but you can never be sure of anything with Av -- they could just as easily have an open beta from Dec 1-10, then release Dec 14.
I have a funny feeling there will be an announcement on Monday... |

How is any of that obvious ? Dark&Light and Mourning didn't smell nearly as much like vaporware as Darkfall still does. And we all know how those two turned out. Even in the unlikely case that Darkfall should indeed be released at some point in the future, expecting even half the promissed features to be in and fully functional would be setting yourself up for a huge disappointment, MMO history should have taught you that much. |

It just amazes me how you people are trying to hold this first time company to higher standards than giant gaming companies like Blizzard and SOE. When they say something, they're giving the best information they have available at that time. The logic that 'because things didn't go exactly to the plan that they had in early October, this game is vaporware' is not only flawed, it shows a very low level of intellectual capacity. Just calm down, take the information about timelines with a grain of salt, knowing that the team is going to encounter problems they haven't encountered before, and play WoW in the meantime. |

The DArkfall NDA, unlike some NDA's, does not allow you to state you are in the Beta. The MMORPG.com rules are that you do not violate any NDA, even if you are not subject to the NDA yourself. By saying your friend is in the Beta, you are violating the terms of posting on MMORPG.com, even though you are not violating the NDA, since you are not part of the NDA agreement. And anyway, how do you know Tasos' Mom? I heard she's the only one in Beta, and Tasos gets pretty mad at her when she breaks teh NDA.

/feed open beta will finish EARLY december....not dec. 1st. Reading comp 101. Just shows how much that side of the arguement is in need of material...just making stuff up now.

"Open" beta means you don't have to ask Tasos permission to go to the bathroom anymore, and you can just take a break from playing Darkfall, and go whenever you need to.
