Nice, can't go wrong for that price. Should get some of the 'on the fence' people to at least give it a try and see how it is. The negativity campaign on these boards is pretty big but is it more powerful than $10 for a month of play? We will see. When people try the game for themselves, they should be better at splitting the valid concerns from the made up hate nonsense I see so often here.

Waiting for: A skill-based MMO with Freedom and Consequence.

Fulmillment of desire is an illusion. Desire leads to more desire, not to satisfaction.

Don't worry, in a month they will be $1 and then MJ can brag about selling 2 million copies.  :)

Comparing WAR to Tabula Rasa, and saying that WAR is dead?

I have no problem listening to a WoW fanatic, but you just lost a lot of my respect.

It would be funny, considering how hyped this game was too :)

What would the fanboi's think?

Then by your logic WotLK must be doing bad too cause it's on sale for $25, 35% off retail price and it's only been about 2 weeks...

I dont' see any new players lasting long in WAR... Have any of you guys tried starting a ALT?  Tiers 1 and 2 are a ghost town, new players are going to get frustrated when they try to do a PQ and find out they can't get past stage 1 because theres not enough people around to do it...

I won't say Warhammer will die, but it appears the numbers are starting to point towards "niche game" for sure.

There is an increasingly smaller NEW sub rate which spells danger due to this being billed as a huge open PvP game. There is a small group of people (based on overall server numbers) that are at the 'end game'. They seem to be having battles around 200 v 200 they claim in posts. The rest in the lower and middle levels are going extremely slow through the content and half of them are logging in/out, so they are not replacing 'fresh' troops for those battles. Eventually, the top guys will get tired of killing the same old names with the same tactics.

As those people at higher level begin to quit due to boredom (fight over/over/over for weeks with no clear winners), lag issues for some, contribution system etc, where will the new people replacing them come from?

Fanbois are now blaming:

1.Wow players for ruining their game. This one is really funny. Not sure how they rationalize this one.

2.Other new subs as not playing the game "right", like the Mythic want them to. They want Mythic to put up yard sale banners saying "Open RvR today @ Altdorf from 8pm-10pm!" so people go there instead of fighting all over. They claim Mythic has not done ENOUGH sheepherding, while at the same time claiming Wow does TOO much of it.

3. LOTRO and WoTLK expansions for stealing people who are already subbed to WAR. This one is the funniest cause if WAR is a better game, why would those subbed WAR folks go play Moria or Lich King? Because people will play what they feel is more fun, naturally. This is no secret.

They point to Christmas as the turning point for WAR. I think its more like 2009. If they don't have their problems worked out by the time the new MMOs release, it will spell trouble solidifying WAR's place in Niche history. It won't die, it'll just linger there with the lore fans.

If people are leaving WAR for expansions to older games now, what do you think will happen when brand NEW content is released?

They really need to inject some sanity into the fingerpointing and direct this to Mythic. It's their baby so they deserve the blame. What ever happened to accountability?

I won't even try a free trial if one was available after reading these forums for the last few weeks.

I wouldn't say just because people say they don't like it, you should not try it. That's just as bad as War fanbois saying because they find it the best ever, then you should buy it. I did play it but only found it a fair/good game. It was fun for a month but then I feel asleep. There are others who are playing it night and day though, they see nothing wrong with it or very little. I think FFXI was the best MMO I've played to this point, but there are PLENTY who disagree with me and found it boring.

You are definitely doing the right thing. Read the forums, throw out the complete troll flames and the complete Fanboi hypes and you'll find enough truth to find whether its right for you. I bought on release so all that was available was positive hype from the company and WAR lore fans, there was no counterbalance then. I think now there is plenty of rational argument both ways for you to find the truth.

He man thanks for the cool reply.
I already had a clear understanding of the game before it released; no real/complex economy and crafting, no player housing, no pets, etc.

In other words the game was completely focussing on RVR and some pve thrown in.

Now, after release I read there is no RVR but only scenarios, its obvious to me this is not the game for me.

In fact I find it hard to understand what anyone would enjoy about this game; if they like scenarios why not play an online FPS.

If you never played it of course you wouldn't know, so don't assume.

I try not to be considered a fanboi but it's hard when you like something and alls everyone does is bash it to hell for problems that are solvable it will just take a little time. I ain't believing the new patch is going to be a miracle patch but I already enjoy the game and I like the Knights and I want to play them. I would rather not hear bashing from people who never played it or only played it for the first 10 levels. I played WoW to the 60's and I enjoyed it then but I don't enjoy it now.

I enjoy Warhammer now, most people who don't have not had the same experiences as I have in the game and it makes me annoyed and upset that people bash it so much without doing what I have done to like the game. I have stopped trying to recruit people cause its pointless, people are too fickle in general to give new games a shot, they would rather go back to games they feel more comfortable with then actually try anything else.

But as a last note, if you let people on a forum decide what games you play then don't come to my games cause your not worth killing.

I don't care for potential, every game on this site has potential, that does not make them suck less.

How else can I decide what mmorpg's are worth my time and money. Buy them all?
Off course I am going to rely on forums, and I pay especially note to the negative opinions.

I understand how you feel, as on the one hand I'm excited to try this game, and at the same time it's getting a lot of negativity of late.  However, I would point out that when/if a free trial comes out, the game will cetainly have been out for a while and might have a lot of stuff fixed; besides, if it's free, what does it hurt to atleast give it a try?  There's been many games that I've thought were going to be lame, but I eventually gave their demo/trial a go (honestly, it was usually out of boredom from everything else I'd been playing) and have found some really good ones!  Personally, for the longest time I thought WoW looked pretty stupid...downloaded the trial and found that I actually had a fair amount of fun, cartoonish look or not (infact it's a nice change, but that's not for here).  Anyways, what I'm trying to get at is, if it's free then you don't have anything to lose and you never know what gems you might come across!

Well, if I take a free trial I assume I might stick with that game and character. And when I play a mmorpg I take the first steps VERY seriously.

It takes me hours to figure out the most populated/best server for instance. I have to figure out what class to pick and what race. Also some games have crappy classes or races, so I have to figure out what classes not to pick, which takes another few hours. Lastly is naming my character; I spend some time figuring out a name which connects with the lure the game has.

For instance with the WOW free trial, I spend literally DAYS finding out the best server for me. (Ironforge I think) . Then I spend hours finding out the best class. (Shaman horde) And at least one hour to find a suitable name (Ironclad) Then only to find out after three weeks the game was not my taste. (crafting, economy)

I'm not gonna spend all that time and effort on a game which I already assume is not for me.

Actually, that is still weird since WOTLK sold so much in such a short time, why did they lower the price on it? Or did they raise it the first week to earn more cash? Very strange.

Still the game is worth $10 easy, I waste that on crap most days anyways. Even if you just play it for a week it is still a good price.

And WAR is the 3rd biggest MMO game in X-fire statistic still, and while PvP games do have more % using X-fire it is still not bad. Not good either but the game is far from dead.

Then you might as well never leave WoW, just sit on that game and sit there complaining once your 80 with nothing to do. Cause if your not willing to try a game yourself or even wait for a game to become good then you might as well quit playing MMOs if you don't want to play WoW.

It's not that strange at all. Stores and especially online stores are constantly competing in price to sell more items. They make less profit because of the lower price but if they get 10 times more costumers..
I see the same  thing happening with the Xbox360, it already dead cheap (in Holland we get €40 back form Micro$oft) but stores still are lowering the price to sell even more units.

Probably very good advise. WOW is really good and no mmorpg comes even close to it. If you could make money with crafting in general, and there was no auction house but regional economy, (and player housing) I wouldn't look back instead of wasting my times on forums.

Fanbois are now blaming:

1.Wow players for ruining their game. This one is really funny. Not sure how they rationalize this one.

One of mine and many other biggest complaints was the addition of BG/Scenarios to WAR this was taken from WOW and i hated it when i played WOW. MJ also stated they were in WAR to appeal to the WOWbies if you will. WAR is alot like WOW in its easy mode style of play but in order for Mythic to attract the ex-wowbie they had to make it feel wowish therefore making those coming to play more at home. Guess what that in itself even drove the ex-wowbies away.

2.Other new subs as not playing the game "right", like the Mythic want them to. They want Mythic to put up yard sale banners saying "Open RvR today @ Altdorf from 8pm-10pm!" so people go there instead of fighting all over. WOW and WOTLK are both PVE games and since WAR sucks at PVE its only natural for those more inclined not to PVP to go back.

They point to Christmas as the turning point for WAR. I think its more like 2009. If they don't have their problems worked out by the time the new MMOs release, it will spell trouble solidifying WAR's place in Niche history. It won't die, it'll just linger there with the lore fans.

I like how people call WAR a niche market. Its basically the same game as WOW minus decent PVE, cool looking items and several million people. This is war failed people did NOT want another WOW clone.

If people are leaving WAR for expansions to older games now, what do you think will happen when brand NEW content is released?

They really need to inject some sanity into the fingerpointing and direct this to Mythic. It's their baby so they deserve the blame. What ever happened to accountability?

Your right in the fact that its Mythics failure. They thought by taking a proven PVE based game model and implementing it into theres that it would be a success.  Now had WOW implemented RVR like DAOC had well then nothing could ever touch it. I really don't know why they haven't done that either. For what its worth i think the numbers have dropped off so much that EA/Mythic has told the sellers to drop the prices. I've never seen a recently released game basically be given away. I don't see why they are doing it considering that those of us who paid full price have been quoted over and over telling people basically not to waste your money. I've never in my MMO career seen so many negative comments from a game so shortly after its release but i know why there is.
