news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20081128/ap_on_re_us/wal_mart_death

It continues to amaze me how people can act like a horde of charging barbarians looking to sack Rome during the season of "goodwill towards men". Maybe people should concentrate more on the goodwill part rather than if they are going to be the first ones to get their hands on a Wii. And people wonder why I've lost faith in Christmas.

Does this make anyone else mad?

What can you say about this?

I never seen a more pathetic site - in my LIFE.  In my life.

The person will be buried, someone's husband, brother, father, because people had to rush-in Wal Mart to buy discounted prices.  Truly goods is more important than human life.  The guy, probably working in this economy, to support himself.  Maybe working two jobs.  And gets trampled upon by people.

Hard to believe.   Is this what we have become?

Damn who would go near a WalMart on a Black Friday?? I don't even go near that place during the week. I'm suprised the police didn't start tear gassing people when they broke through the windows.

This is why I've moved all my shopping online during this time of the year. No lines, no fuss, good deals and it gets delivered to me. Beats standing in line at 1am to watch folks get in a fist fight over some meaningless piece of crap that they would have never given a second look before, but now would kill over because its 30% off so they can five it to Uncle Louie that they haven't spoken to in 10 years.

You think like me.  Sometimes I wonder if people even think like this anymore.

The people that were there probably went on with their shopping, went to the checkout, went home and wrapped their presents and apathetically told the story of the guy who died at the door.  Meanwhile, his family is having to live through this never getting to see him again or experience him again all because some people could not act like civilized human beings and instead thought it more appropriate to push and shove their way through the doorway.

I don't think people put much value on human life anymore outside of those people they know.  It's almost like they can feel no emotion for someone if they do not have some kind of personal relationship with them.  And even then, a lot of people seem pretty emotionless for those people as well.

Who would have thought that shopping online could now save your life?  I'm the same, what little Xmas shopping I do is done entirely online just to avoid the shopping warriors!

what kind of an idiot stand in the way of a crowd of that size without a riot shield?

I remember back in 1999, folks kept asking me if I was stockpiling food. I always answered, "No, I'm stockpiling ammo and making a list of people who are stockpiling food"

I scored a 37" LCD today for 400 bucks.   Waited in line since 1am and doors opened at 8.  A guy ahead of me had brought a propane heater with him. (it's cold in michigan)  He wound up lighting himself on fire.  The guy was literally running around with flames coming off him.  He got his blanket and coat off and got put out without injury- but man I thought that was crazy.

The cops shoulda been there, all over the place, for a crowd of that size.  We had cops rolling through by us, park in the lot, and there weren't even 200 folks waiting.

It's a damn shame either way.

All humor aside, that is really terrible, they trampled some poor guy, and for what? A savings, a discount, standard death and the like doesn't really bother me, but this.. this was just so.. greedy. Awful.

its a shame, its surprising how a 34 male cant get out of the way of the crowd, i mean i could see an old person being trampled and die. But the guy was so young, i dunno though, once i see a crowd of angry minorities wanting to get into the store i would make a break for it.

You've obviously never been in an out of control mob before. A stampede of people can kill you as much as a  stampede of cattle can. Most likely he just didn't see it as a possibility until it was too late. It's easy for us in hindsight to say we should have seen it coming but another when it actually happens to us and we never imagine that it could happen. I'm sure this poor guy never thought he would be trampled to death by a heard of overeager Christmas shoppers. This sort of thing really scares me as to how the value of human life has taken a backseat to our pursuit of  material things. I really think our obsession with having the newest and latest junk has blinded us to the basic belief that people are more important than acquiring things.

People like you actually sit outside our country and say stuff like this to each other?  Have you ever even been here?

This could happen anywhere, and I'm willing to be it has.  Like someone else pointed out, we hear all the time about your less than civilized soccer games over there.  I never thought to categorize the European nations altogether for a few nitwits and their behavior at a sporting match however.
