Its not animes style in that its stylized and such. What I think zorvan is refering to is the architecture and the way the ships and such are drawn. I watched the youtube vid you linked and the ships look like something out of robotech or gundam or even cowboy beebop at least to me they do, and not in a bad way either. It looks like a pretty good game. I just stay away from item mall based games.

Tried this game not that long ago, it is impressive in some ways would have been very enjoyable if I could actually find some english speaking players ( which I couldn't ) ,  lag is a major issue, found myself freeze framing for minutes at a time and found that people like to camp boss spawn points.....which made the kill boss mission you had very hard to complete.

I'll try it again when they get some of the issues ironed out.

Don't know if you can run it?

I don't know whats going on but my first char got stuck on that tutorial mission. Man I hate this tutorial so much. Just seems hella broken. Tells me to shoot a raider. I kill a raider but it doesnt count. Guess I killed someone elses raider.

Finally I get to the waypoint and kill the raider the game wanted me to kill. But the whole time the game keeps nagging to hit my V key and select the waypoint. Strange

Final straw I blow up several asteroids yet it would never count the loot I just received from blowing it up. Just kept bugging out on me, telling me to loot the asteroid.

Looks like my character is just screwed; forever stuck on this darn tutorial.

EVEs tutorial used to blow chunks too but at least you could cancel it!

Cant figure out how to chat either. Guess chat isnt working or something. Will try it later on a new character

Well the tutorial is a bit desoriented. I was stuck in the looting too but i delete my character and restart it. This time i have taken the time to read and i manage to pass it. Anyway the game is not bad but if i want to play a space ship game i rather play Eve but for those who wantr a free game they should give it a try.

More than 200 missions? What exactly is a mission? If it is a quest I am not impressed.

Im not sure to understand you. For me a mission is the same as a quest.

I've gone through the tutorial so far, and it's not too bad. A little buggy but for a beta it's fine. The main complaint I have so far is the damn mission giver continually nagging you every minute or so with that nails-on-chalkboard sound it makes as it's typing. Seriously drives me nuts. I do hope they take that out, as there's no need to continually nag a player when all they have to do is look at the mission info if they need to.

Geez, this game looks like it took the worst parts from WoW (the mechanics) and the worst parts of EVE (space ship setting, god awful combat) and forced them to marry each other.

Ummm, eww.

Parts from WoW... ???

In fact it's more like...

MMOGs such as EVE Online, features a point-and-click system, stats and skills. In Taikodom you get to pilot the ship yourself just as in Freelancer and X2. But the big difference lays in the skill each player has based on the following required knowledge:

- Getting to know the universe;
- Knowing how to use your resources (ex.: Certain weapons are better against certain ships and so on)
- Being able to coordinate and join efforts with other pilots. It is quite evident that union and organization are very important features in Taikodom.
- Being talented in the profession you choose. Piloting, trading, writing, meaning mastering your skills to succeed in society.
- Collecting and managing resources (money, equipments, ships, etc).

Like the other guy said you pilot your own ship

The combat seems very Freelancer-like

Taikodom begins the selling of hoplons online

Players with less time to play Taikodom, but who dream of getting the big ship and the best items that only veteran players have, can now buy hoplons (H$), a second in-game currency. The good news will become official in the game?s website on this Monday morning, December 8.

To fully enjoy the benefits that buying hoplon brings, players must choose between one of the hoplon packages available on the site, the packs vary from H$ 500 and H$ 5,000. Inside the game these hoplons can be converted to taels, the common currency used in every in-game economic transaction, including free commerce between players, and in purchase of items such as ships and weapons.

Hoplons also allow players to buy affiliations, which work as an exclusive club that gives its affiliates personal advantages like bigger storage deposits at stations, Access to other star systems, and fast passages by tolled portals while the Affiliation lasts, which can be 30, 90 or 180 days, depending on the plan. Along with the Affiliation benefits, players also get a proportional amount of Money in taels.

Primarily, for players living outside Brazil, the purchases of hoplons and affiliations can be done by the PayPal system.

It's currently in spanish (brazillian) voiceover - but with an english interface. English version under construction.

It is definitely a slick production - I have just started it and looks rather nice. Will update later!

F2P. (Ignore the cash shop).

I find the narrowness of your opinion refreshing.

I tried this game when I saw it in another post I think. Everything was good up until I hit open space and it lagged so bad I couldn't do anything.

Is this game Java based? Is there a fix for the laggy game play?

Just wondering. Can you walk around the inside of your ship, can you walk around inside a space station, and can you land on a planet and walk around the planet?

When we get back from where we are going, we will return to where we were. I know people there!

It's really just like in EVE , your restricted to your ship with just an avatar picture to confirm you actually did make a character.

Don't know if you can run it?

I downloaded and have been playing the game for hours now. It's not too bad of a game, more casual friendly than Eve. I could actually see myself adding this to my games playing list once they get some major issues fixed, such as the god awful lag when you got more than 10 objects moving around you. It becomes one heck of a slideshow.

I know that it is in Beta and can live with that until it's addressed. It also has one huge memory leak, after several hours you will have to log out if you are able, it seems to be more on their end and once they reset their servers, your good to go for another few hours or until you got a bunch of folks or npc's dogfighting with you and then it's a toss up on who gets the lucky "I got you between the lag spikes shot".

They have some sort of crafting, was still sorting that out when I decided enough of the lag for tonight. I will be keeping an eye on this one and playing it as well to see if this can become my E & B void filler.

Sorry for the ramble or lack of directed thought, going on 72 hours now with the flu and my thoughts ain't working so well. Give it a shot if you like space MMO's, you might actually like it.

Bah item shop , enuf said... no thanks....

If it wasnt for the item shop and buying advantages for ingame use I would probably be interested in trying it...

For the number of times that SOE has destroyed the game I loved, even after it was very clear it was not what the majority wanted, I feel that they should start making donations to us- Paradox (SWG)
