So i've gathered a bit of a reputation on these boards as a bit of a WAR fan boy. So for me to write this is actually pretty significant.
The way things are going... WAR is pretty much going to fail... hard. It had good population to start with... but imo, it was released far too early and people have simply buggered off to other MMORPGs that are more balanced/polished.
However, bugs/imbalance/unppolishness aside... the MAIN problems i see here with WAR that NEED to be FIXED SOON are:
1. Population - there are too many servers and they need to be merged 2. Social aspects - we need item linking NOW and we need duelling NOW, as well as more emotes 3. More responsive combat - enough said. 4. Some kind of renovation of the keep/battle field objective system. Frankly, PVEing undefended keeps and BOs all day isn't my idea of fun... and i happen to be on the most populated EU server. Even IF there isn't some kind of increased incentive for defending, at least make the PVE part more interesting (e.g. introduce a more complex mini game for Rams, instead of just a 'click on the line' game.......) 5. General bugs... especially the obvious, simple ones e.g. the dismounting bug. I mean COMMON! HOW HARD IS IT TO FIX? 6. Make it easier to lock zones, and dont have Serpent's passage on the front all the time - or introduce a SINGLE QUEST for ALL the scenarios.
So yeah, coming from a former WAR fanboy, here are my thoughts. These issues really need to be addressed, otherwise this will be an empty game within a very short period of time. I mean, the biggest, bestest guild on destruction side on our server all just left for another game recently... they were Server Police of Eltharion. |

OP you forget the most important point of them all. This game has no RvR even though that was the most markeded part of this game. Everybody wanted to get a pice of that 100vs100 combat. Well the truth is that nobody got anything as RvR technically could not be supported due to lag. Fix RvR!!! and Lag!!! |

Attackers get loot, RP, and XP for attacking making it lucrative but boring when no one shows up to defend. This is why scenarios are popular its a steady stream of available xp & rp despte being worth 'less' now than the RvR lakes. I also disagree with you Scamman on lag. I've been in dozens of 48+ vs 48+ fights with minimal lag, of course i'm smart enough in RVR to turn my settings down to balanced. My friend she gets lagb ecause her video card is a peice of shit. Lag issues seem to vary and actually be a minimal problem for only a section of players.
btw OP I disagree completely with #2. Neither of them will help the game. Item Linking would be a boon for sure and I'd like to see it but Dueling would actually be destructive to the game's set up like scenarios only worse because everyone would cry that X class on my realm is better than X class please fix. Classes are balanced against their destruction counterparts it would be completely unbalanced. If you want to fight someone fight the other side thats the whole point of an RvR game..its not supposed to be Internal Realm EPeening. |

No matter how much i love WAR i have to agree. i just (with a tear in my eye) canceled WAR. It is a great game, but there are to many low servers in EU. all are low, and the world seems empty. so im going back to old wow just to try the hero class, and as it is now im gonna stay back there. i never meet other people beside in scenarios and its bad. there allmost never someone who wants some open-rvr, and since pvp/rvr is what i like, its gives me an empty feeling. perhaps ill be back when ALOT of servers are merged and they have fixed some of the still many small bugs that just enoys me sometimes (and there is still to many) |

Want to save this game. Re sell it as DAOC2 but box DAOC from OF times up to SI and update graphics a bit. Just end this game already. |

Its already "over", ie. always going to be niche. It was over about a month ago. Whether it nose dives like AoC or can maintain like CoH I dunno. |

I really think this game could have done so much better if Mythic hadn't misjudged the server number. From what I heard about the Beta, people were having a whale of a time, despite the bugs, because the population was rammed and engaging in RvR all the time. Mythic find themselves in a worrying situation now. They need to stop the falling sub numbers fast if they are going to save this game. Jacobs needs to swallow his pride and start merging servers in NA (EU died the moment GOA were announced as contracters). Let this be a lesson to developers about making arrogant statements that are only going to come back and bite you on the ass later on. |

There are no stupid questions, just stupid people. |
WAR is boring, all i have to say about the game really. |

It's in this situation because of people like you OP that have been bashing anyone that criticized the game for it's obvious flaws in Beta and post launch. So gratz, you have the game you wish for now, it's what people like you deserve. |

Well I could honestly have fun in WAR despite various design issues. There were only two things that were bothering me the first month. 1) was the excessive number of people using warbuddy and/or the various versions of it. Seeing as how the video's of what it could do were all over youtube I don't think it was much of a secret. Regardless of the many "tin foil" hat comments.. when you see a guy flying around over the battle ground its kind of hard to ignore.. as I don't recall any class with a "fly spell" in nordenwatch... The people who amazing had a special "escape" speed or teleported out of danger etc etc That could have worked its self out on its own... however, I think after the massive amount of radar use leading to the big radar bans in DAoC .. I just was beyond sick of that crap in pvp games. 2) The main issue I had was the RvR or lack of. Again coming from DAoC my dying server with a max population of 1000'ish players have more RvR going on than my "high / high" WAR server. DAoC had at least two battle grounds many people never left.. yet there was always something going on in the frontier. Even if it was just 8 mans... and when a keep was attacked... people showed up to defend (oddly enough). Often the only action I found in the "open" in WAR.. was finding a keep under attack and defending it by myself until the enemy got inside and ran over me. Boredom = cancel The game on its own was fine... just wasn't anything going on IN the game to keep me. I really wish they had opened the Origins server in DAoC and done it as a true classic server.. then I would be happy to give Mythic/EA my money. Being able to choose the skills you want to use, offers much less variety than pre-made class based systems. -Future Game Developer |

The only youtube videos of "flying" on youtube we were able to find was a crafty montage of zealots or magus "special" move ( /special ). If you think you found something else please post links here. If you say that there is so many of them then support what you say with links please. I don't know about everything else. We're kind of happy that there is no gold-sellers. To be honest untill i read what you wrote I didn;t realize anyone could have a problem with that.
To be honest everything else i read is garbage. We're all havign a blast with this game with no end in sight.

From what I've seen there is no way MMOs will ever get out of WoW's clutches - Blizzard makes 150 mil $ each month and won't stop at anything, including blatant copying, viral marketing and who knows what else to keep that cake. There is NOTHING people won't do for that kind of money. If WAR folds then this is it for me regarding MMOs - I'd rather not play anything then see this travesty go on in this genre. |

Well it is a sad day for me I love WAR in all it's aspects but it is dependant on a large player base. Everyone has come pretty much to the same consensus of what needs to be fixed in the game IMO. But it's not like you can re launch a game. Even if eveything is fixed to some level I don't think you would be able to get the numbers back to make it work. I guess I will trek back to LOTRO for my PvE fix. But PVP is dead for now Until something new hits the market. (Darkfall maybe??) The main thing I got out of WAR is a pretty solid guild of people I like and hopefully we can all find a game we can agree on that we can enjoy as a team. PLAYING:AION, MO,LOTRO(Life Account) |

WAR is another good example of game which most work on it was done on getting ppl hyped about it instead of investing time desigining the game. As a closed beta tester I already knew it when obvious bugs were not fixed - bugs so big that you don't even need to beta test they are just out there... when this stuff isn't fixed you know the game is just not going to be what you got hyped about and another game on his way to be forgotten World of Warcraft is a proof that MMORPG quality should affect schedule/budget and not the other way around. |

The testers RvRed so they assumed their system was fine.
See the thing is of course a designer think his system works, otherwise he wouldn't make it. But then you have to do everything in your power to break it. Mythic did not do this. They just "put it through its paces". But did not go though the various use cases.
AOC was pure hype. WAR was misguided testing and not wanting to see bad things. |

Lol, calm down Markoraos. WoW is trashed at any given moment on any given forum, and yet it just celebrated it's 4th anniversary. If WAR fails it'll do so quite on it's own. One of my primary issues with WAR are the scenarios. Not only do they detract from what should be the prime focus of the game, RvR, but abstract away players from the overall community. The last few days I played few people were available for PQs, and fewer still in the RvR zones. Maybe things have changed since then, but you know ... the whole thing with first impressions and all. I wrote today that I'm somewhat conflicted over WAR's demise. On one hand I'd like the genre to learn from yet another failed run-of-the-mill fantasy themepark. Most players just went back to WoW, or to whatever game with orcs and elves they played before. EA had quite a hill to climb to begin with, and when they offered nothing incrementally new ... well what else did you expect?

You are so over the top crazy with this blaming of the players for the faults of the game. According to you everything was fine in Warhammer, no you said better than any other game and the fault this time is because a few people criticize the game on forums. Really, that is what ruined warhammer now? Servers just started withering away, because some liars of forums had that much power over players and potential customers? Do you really want people to believe the game is that weak that a few trolls can torpedo the entire project?
Sorry mate, but if the gameplay was as awesome as you present it to be, then people would be lining up to log in. It would not matter what a hand full of critics say on a forum they most likely do not even frequent anyhow. They would not be walking away and would not be merging servers. Why don't you take a step back and look at things a bit more objectively. Even Mythic has enough integrity to admit and try to address the games issues than you. Every time I turn around you are blaming people for the problems of this game.
I know you think you are doing a service with your little crusade, but I doubt it is having the effect you think it is. Just ask the Vanguard crusaders how that worked out for them. |

This games needs TONS more pve content to where it is everywhere and always something to do not having to grind out high 20s more pve content will bring players in which will help with the rvr as well as it stands WAR is gonna fail plain and simple unless it adds tons of pve content I know the pvp players hate to hear that but its true you need the masses for the epic rvr battles and to get those numbers to stay in this game you have to have a deep pve content |

Hmm lets see the OP points again to adress the ""Lol, I heard so many "complaints" - actually pure BS " comment:
1. Population - there are too many servers and they need to be merged Obviously this wasn't an issue that was brought up during beta, but people were saying that realm population as a whole was too low to begin with. Bells began to ring when GOA president stated they were starting with 500 people per side and people rightly said that it was't enough for healthy ORvR activity. 2. Social aspects - we need item linking NOW and we need duelling NOW, as well as more emotes Was brought up during beta and post release, fanbois like yourself said it wasn't needed and some even stated it as a feature since they didn't want to see channels spammed. 3. More responsive combat - enough said. Well, where to start with this one. Again was actually brought up as a feature of WAR by people like yourself as slower combat aparently = tactical fighting... 4. Some kind of renovation of the keep/battle field objective system. Again, even now people like you keep saying that endgame is fine. Enjoy. 5. General bugs... especially the obvious, simple ones e.g. the dismounting bug. I mean COMMON! HOW HARD IS IT TO FIX? According to you Mark, 90% of problems are due to population (WoW also had the same problems at release due to the same problem funnily enough), and things like simple bugs are very minor and don't affect the game. You've been spouting that since the game released. Hope you are enjoying it. 6. Make it easier to lock zones, and dont have Serpent's passage on the front all the time - or introduce a SINGLE QUEST for ALL the scenarios. End game barely tested and NDA kept until release due to the fact that they didn't people beating end game content before game release, or so that is what we were told by people like yourself and the OP. And now the very same people are complaining about it...
So here we are, with a mass exodus happening and people wondering why there are so many complaints on the forums and the so called haters being blamed for it. And all these complaints comming from an actual fanboy who has been defending these bugs since release, and now we have another fanboy saying these complaints are BS. Very cute.

I'll counter you by listing WoW complaints... 4 YEARS after release: 1. Extremely linear leveling. This wouldn't be so terrible if there wasn't just one route to go... which merges for both factions very fast. Replay value: 0.0. 2. Extreme lack of variety within classes. You have 3 talent trees and that's it. 3. Classes are lackluster and unimaginative. Both factions have the same bland classes that share similar mechanics (mana.... 4. Timesinks at any possible opportunity. Mana and hp regeneration is unbearably slow. Horrible flight times, broken LFG-ing requiring you ages to find that group. etc etc. 5. Fixed number of players PvE instances which are severely increasing LFG times and putting arbitrary limitations to group compositions. Endless grief there "we can't go, we don't have a fifth" . "Sorry we'll kick you out now, even though you waited for an hour because you're one too many." 6. Completely dead lower level content. A huge part of the game has no other purpose then just another tedious timesink until you get to the "actual" game. 7. THE major gameplay modes do not exist until you're max level. In essence you need to "work" your character until you get to max level where you finally get to "play". 8. Completely dead and static world as a whole. Players have absolutely NO import whatsoever on the world. It just lies there, dead and uncaring. 9. Horrible character customization, both at character creation and later on in the game. Ok they introduced titles now, after only FOUR YEARS of player appeals... But there is no armor dying for example, nothing whatsoever to distinguish you visually. Nothing. 10. No housing, not even communal. Nothing to call your own in the world. 11. Completely inexistent world PvP. And no that WoTLK thing does not apply - its just another BG without designated number of players. 12. Lack of class synergies, especially in PvP. Each class plays on its own. Completely selfish and autistic PvP. 13. Horrible instanced PvE design. Each one of those "challenging" dungeons is completely static - you just need to learn those steps and dance the dance. There is no need to think on one's feet - just follow the steps. 14. Just 4 (now 5, whooohoo) BGs. Pathetic and insulting. Online FPSs which don't require monthly subs customarily ship with DOUBLE the amount of PvP arenas. 15. Badly designed BGs. They either drag on to eternity or are farmed by "who cares" leechers. Probably the worst instanced PvP I saw in ANY game. 16. PvP itself is almost entirely gear dependent. Utterly ridiculous for more reasons than I can count here. 17. Almost complete lack of open world group PvE content. 18. Dreadful farming required at almost any step of the game. Reputations, crafting materials, percentage drops from quests, honor, arena points... It's just brain-dead AFK farming required to get almost anywhere n that game. 19. Pathetic attempts at tongue-in-cheek out-of-lore pop reference humor. It is almost as if the devs are making fun of players actually attempting to take that, already pretty thin, lore seriously. 20. Cross server scenarios - any idea of any PvP rivalry on server level is completely gone now. Who cares about anything? I just want my honor points... 21. Character movement and interaction feels cartoony. No feeling of solidity that most other mmos like LoTRO, WAR and AoC have. It is almost like Super Mario in the land of MMOs. 22. Insultingly slow time Bliz takes to address player concerns and requests. As I mentioned before my hunter was nerfed to utter oblivion and I couldn't get into a group for 6 months before Bliz decided to do something about it. 23. Overall the game requires horrifying amounts of time to enjoy. If you want to see those vaunted end-game raids you'd better say good bye to your real life.. or at least make it completely subservient to the game. Want me to list some more? My point is that WoW can go on with those kinds of serious flaws that haven't been addressed in YEARS, while WAR is butchered and killed on these and other forums for a much much smaller number of grievances. Sorry but this strikes me as colossaly unfair and frankly very very fishy. I played WoW since its release and I play WAR now. I'll say that WAR, with all its current flaws, is a much much better game - both potentially AND in actuallity than WoW. That's my opinion and the opinion of RL people that play with me. The ONE THING that is a real, serious problem with WAR now is that there are too many servers - and there were too many of them since the beginning. The game really didn't have the opportunity to take off because you need to have a certain population for this group-oriented game to really shine. Now the problem is getting worse because it is a vicious circle - a lot of my pals retained their subs but stopped playing "until the population picks up." It is not going to happen this way - Mythic needs to bite the bullet and do massive server merges right now and EA be damned.

WoW gets bashed as much as any other game so saying WAR gets unfair treatment is not true. The number one problem with WAR is simply Scenarios drawing people away from oRvR, until people like you accept that fact scenarios will continue to provide easy xp, boring people out, people quitting from grinding those scenarios and then leaving the servers empty (in that order).
Blaming people on forums for the state of the game as it is now is dilusional. |

Oh well so it is ok to post crap on this and other forums then. Lol I remember when the game realeased how the hateboy mercenaries were all over the game saying "stay away form it -it has no engame PvE". Of course it all turned out to be an intentional lie because now we have those very same "concerned citizens" saying - "stay away from the game! It's endgame requires PvE!" Loool.. I'm not saying that game doesn't have its flaws and I never claimed otherwise. What I'm saying is that I really cannot explain this massive glee some people seem to experience when they see a game fail - in fact it seems that it gives them so much pleasure they will actively go and invent bullshit just in order to create a negative atmosphere.... and then they'll smugly go back to WoW. I might be stubborn but I'm not dumb. The writing's on the wall for everyone to read - if WAR fails then there is no future for MMOs. If EA with all its money and a stellar design team failed to budge WoW 's massive inertia then there is no chance for anyone else in the market. Just like AoC's failure hurt WAR so is WAR's failure going to hurt any other future MMO. There is a global crisis going on guys. Do you think anyone would invest in a AAA MMO if they saw goddamn EA fail at it? No.. they'll all say aw screw it - there are safer investments than that. If EA + Mythic can't even attempt at WoW then that's it, good bye mmos. That's plain economic sense. Money talks. What we might get in the end is the fulfillment of the old prophecy "Only WoW2 can beat WoW" and you know what that will mean - complete death of innovation and progression in MMOs because Bliz does what Bliz does best. WoW stopped MMO evolution for at least 5 years, many would say it actually set it back. If WAR fails then there is no hope for the genre whatsoever - WoW2 or whatever Blizzard's next mmo is going to be is probably going to be even more bland, plastic and shallow than WoW is. FFS WoW made EQ look deep, complex and freeform. Christ! |

However, on WHA I can afford to be critical but not here. It is you and wow fanbois like you who can't stand any other game to succeed and will do anything to hinder it that make me what I am on these boards. WAR has its flaws, oh boy it does have them, and not all of them are fixable. However it is a great game nevertheless and I enjoy it immensely and I would hurt if it failed, and especially if it happened through no serious fault of its own. Please tell me why do you and your fellow haters find so much joy in other games' difficulties? I'm really curious - is that a spurned lover thing? What is it? "You bastards turned your back to my baby! I hope you suffer!" Is it really that good for you? Does it make you feel righteous? |

Good god man, all I see on these forums is your constant barrage of hatred toward WoW. What on earth has this game done to you to incite such bitter and vitriolic scorn? Sure this game is not for everyone, and I can respect that, but you carry on as if Blizzard have personally driven to your house and murdered each and every one of your family. Calm down! WoW isn't going to die any time soon, and contrary to popular belief, it is NOT to blame for all the ills of the world, nor the current state of the MMO industry (you can thank spineless developers and fat cat publishers for that). |
