Vista here and I get CTDs every 40 to 60 minutes. If its due to low resources or something then XP should be better since the sys requirements are lower. On Vista Ihe longest time between crashes (about 2 to 3 hrs) has been on Todbringer assuming because it has the lowest pop atm = less ppl zerging around the newbie zones. |

I have Vista and I am getting occasional CTD. It's mostly when I am doing something really intense like fighting or entering a player quest. I submitted a bug report and you should all do the same. |

Hello
I'm running on a core 2 duo 2 ghz 2 gb ram and geforce 8600 gs 256 mb
Nothin in here is bad. Yes it's a laptob (asus) but it's a good one. Bough 1 year ago. I'm running vista.
I get CTD each fucking 30 minutes. Each time I change zone. each time I get in a rvr zone. Each time I get in a PQ zone. That is seriously pissing me off. I updated my drivers (sound and graphic) I've put all my graphics down (even resolution) and I run with nothing on background. I formated my comp 1 month ago and I run the file check in the game each time I play it.
Nothing is working. |

I am running vista, with a geforce 7800 GTX. Never had a CTD with Warhammer. Also, I play on minimum graphic settings too. I have never been a big fan to show spell effects in crowded games like this one, or since EQ1, After the 50th cast of healing/damage spell, theres really no difference between the first time or the last time you cast. Tho, I also do a clean install every 6 months or so since uninstallers of other games don't clean up their crap properly off of the registry and drive like they should.

WAR crashes on both. When i played OB i had 0 crashes. Now i have crash every 30-40 mins on both, Vista and XP. WAR is not bugfree and sooner or later it will be much more stable. |

Vista for a cure? Jesus Christ. How much does Microsoft pay you? Vista is garbage, sorry to repeat the obvious.

CTD's arent' related to which OS your using. Its related to a memory leak thats been present in the game for months. The CTD's ahve gone down but the recent patch seemed to increase the numbers again. If you have Vista and never CTD its probably related to the fact our computer is specifically built or atleast strong enough to handle Vista. To be honest anyone running Vista with less than 3 Gigs is going to CTD no matter what they do in my personal opinion.
If you aren't buying or building a new computer don't buy Vista. Don't 'fix" / upgrade what isnt' broken when it comes to OS systems. Besides Windows 7 will blow Vista away when it releases might as well wait. |

Anyone that knows anything about PCs means this is also going to be a type of card hit rather hard by any sor ot memory leak / ctd problem. Laptops unless specifically BUILT for it are NOT good gaming machines. |

i have vista and its not nearly as bad as when it first came out. i have not had one ctd since i changed the graphics settings in game (to fastest) and personally i would recommend ppl to vista. imho its so much nicer than xp, and i have not found a program yet that wont run on it. so i think ppl were scared away by how bad it was when it first came out and dont realize that at least in my case, it runs perfectly. xp was a really great os but i like vista better ( for the most part its not perfect, but niether is xp) |

Its simple decision. If you are running 3 gigs ram and less, get XP32. If you running more than 3 gigs of ram get Vista 64. Vista's filing system and administation set up is in a word unique and isn't worth the hassle for normal people. XP64 is basically a glorified Beta system and has too many bugs to run. Vista 32 and XP 32 will not reconize over 3 gigs of ram. There isn't enough 64 bit programming out there to worry about 64 bit operating systems.
Overall I like XP over Vista. Waiting for the next thing |

1. Vista 32bit SP2 can use and recognize all of 4 GB. Depending on your motherboard and add-on cards, you might get less than 4 GB recognized, but that's not an issue with Vista SP2. My Vista is showing 4GBs. Btw, you can even enable recognition of over 3GB Ram on XP and 2003 Server 32bit by using special switches (not the same as 3+ GB for a single app). 2. My laptop with Vista 64bit and 9700 NVidia does not crash. 3. My desktop with Vista 32bit and 9800 GX2 crashes once in a while, but number of crashes can be dramatically reduced by lowering graphics options. I do not get any FPS improvement at all (my specs are overkill for WAR), but I get less CTDs. |
