The increase in GTC prices is entirely demand-driven.

After reading a great many QQ posts on this subject, here's my hypothesis...

Supply for GTCs has not changed much.  The economic downturn has caused some sellers to leave, but just as many have joined in from the increased prices.

Demand for GTCs has increased greatly though, causing prices to increase, from several sources..

  1. Illegal RMT farmers must now purchase 60-day cards for all their farming accounts, but each account still only gets about the same amount of play time before it gets banned.  So RMT farmers need to buy 60 day cards more than twice as frequently as they needed 30 day cards, hence demand increases.
  2. Big alliance types with 'ready standby' alts that are only activated as needed need to be payed with 60 day cards, and not 30 day cards.  While this isn't naturally any more demanding than paying for two 30-day cards, the 30 day cards are gone so they all need to compete for 60 day cards.
  3. The end of Ghost Training means that the above Big Alliance Types and people who grow characters to sell for ISK need to keep their subs current instead of just activating them when their skills finish.  This further increases demand for GTCs.

I think the people with alts they don't keep continually subscribed and people who take breaks for a while don't make up more than a tiny fraction of the people affected by the switch to 60-day cards or the termination of ghost training.  A lot of people have been exploiting the system for a long time, and CCP decided it was time to close the loophole, regardless of whether it had been a 'feature' in the past or not.

i saw ppl selling 10/12/15 90g GTC in past
but today a 60d gtc is 32$/24€ and that are allot of money

so u can buy 1 bn whit 20€ wash that money and buy 2x60D gtc thats why demand is soo big

So 30-day GTC's used to sell for around 200 million and the 60-day GTC's are selling for anywhere between 400-600 million with a current price of 500 million...with the current fluctuations with the world's economy and them closing the ghost training loophole what's the problem, the price seems pretty much on par with what it should be given the circumstances.

oh also x_rast_x i forgot one thing if i remember well a developer from POTBS talked about the farmers way to pay games
some farmers use robbed CC details to pay the game or pay whit own CC and then go at bank and talk to cancel that payment the bank give money back instant and some times that account remain bugged and can play all time for free

if i'm going to spend cash (and not isk), then i'd rather pay for a 90 day CC sub for a couple of dollars more than a 60d gtc.

GTC's are priced that high because people are willing to pay that much, how much easier and bloody obvious does it have to get?

Its funny how in a game where people are so proud of the complexity of the economy and make enough ISK in that economy to pay for their subscription - still don't understand supply and demand.

First GTC cost more RL cash so GTC sellers ask for more IG isk - then GTC buyers agree to pay that price.

No one is forced to participate in the GTC market.

Bingo, thing is ofcourse that 90% of the world population lacks the brainpower to both breathe and walk at the same time. That means that you get a lot of tools in EVE as well, regardless of their e-thug appearance.

You cannot be ruler and player at the same time. CCP is there for the money. Also, the so boasted 'free market' of Eve isn't so free. It's an artificial market made and controlled by CCP. Ask yourself, who gets the money from all this isk trading?

It's a too shady business when the same company supports and encourages item/gold trading for real money. As intended I suppose. I just hope all the people who agree with it, never try to bash those asian games with item mall, ever.
