....and play on the pvp Siege Perilous server? Most of us care more about gameplay than graphics Why not Ultima Online? They have a new expansion coming out soon and they have maintained 100k subscriptions for quite some time now. Check my post history if you think I am a shill... |

I couldn't even register when I wanted to give it a try. I gave up from pure frustration with their shoddy registration system. I figured that if they couldn't even get that right, what did that say about the rest of the game. |

I didn't play UO, but aside from AC I've never heard a game get better reviews. In fact just yesterday I went to the UO site and thought about giving it a whirl. I do see alot of people complaining about Trammel (wth is that anyways?) and massive botting. The botting thing really turned me off. Anyone around that can give a current state of the game AND also give us that didn't play it a summary of how "far behind" we'd be in the grand scheme of things. I left EQ2 and returned after a year and the gap between myself and others really made it hard to play at times - no group for you! But once again, it does sound like UO is still king. |

I would actually like to hear as well, what is the current state of the game. |

Because the game has been ruined by EA. It's Ultima online in name only these days. It's not the great sandbox game it once was. The Age of Shadows expansion put the final nail in the coffin for the player run crafting and repair economy. It's got more in common with Sim's online now, and it's full of players running bots for just about everything. |

Have to agree with Zayne on this one, tried the ultima kingdom reborn trail a while back and was enjoying it but not enough to buy and subscribe....but it seems EA thought that I would be overcome with the pure joy of the game and went and billed me for the client...before the trial was up! Sent email after email about it and guess what....no reply... Don't know if you can run it? |

EA's customer support is like driving a 5 inch rail road spike into your frontal lobe. However yeah I do miss the old days of UO. |

Been playing on and off for 11 years (this includes about 20 times resubscribing and cancelling), with various old computers and new ones, 56k modems to cable modems, from Windows 95 to Windows Vista and not once have ever had any issues with their registration website, mis-charges, etc. |

Acutally in reply to EA's customer support. I have a guild that transfered servers weeks ago and our guild rank bugged out and I have used EVERY method to get into contact with them , including website feedback, calling them ect ect. So please I have a unique perspective with them and getting the cold shoulder for weeks. Forgive my derailing. <3 |

UO is nothing after AoS. Its a cheap version of WoW now. They should of left it how it was, or even turn it back how it was and people would join. They had plenty of subs before AoS, but decided to change the game for some odd reason and thats when everyone started to leave.

Siege still has AOS system so crafting is sort of useful but still broken gameplay wise. IS speedhacking in pvp a problem as pvpers say, as many complain on the boards about it. Of the 100.000 subscriptions more than 50% are in asia, so that leaves about 50.000 subscriptions on the 'western' servers. UO is a sandbox and 'open' world, but it ha been neglected and abused and EA's stupidity should not be rewarded, before they really fix some of their things.
Like better customer support and proper ongoing events and not leave 6 months between each. Also charging €14 a month for an 11 year old game does not help either!

I've been tempted to go back a few times but I just can't do it. Plus it looks like people on stratics are still whining and complaining after all these years even though they got Trammel. I think they are spoiled. "Don't sweat it -- it's not real life. It's only ones and zeroes." Gene Spafford "A lot of hacking is playing with other people, you know, getting them to do strange things." |

"Easy" only equals "better" for crack addicts and MMORPG developers. |

Agree with donjn, I been on n off for the past 11 years n never had a problem with support. As for the the 'Vista bashers' , their complaints are usually legit n require a whole different forum...=P |

I quit UO for WAR , I'm enjoying the break from UO , there are a few things coming up that make me want to try it again soon.
1. Event Moderator Program coming back with players taking on that role http://www.uoherald.com/application/ Application deadline is November 17th, 2008.
2. Stygian Abyss http://www.uoherald.com/stygianabyss/
3. The game has lasted 11 years..
UO just needs a few thousand friends to return , with fresh ideas and more support for the large community. |
