Personally the OP,did nothing for me ,because i really can't believe word of mouth from anyone that went through an effort to get on a Korean beta?That tells me it's a fan boy that is willing to look blind at a game.

I want to hear from a player who couldn't care less about this game,and will give me an unbiased report,better yet i want to test it for myself.

You know, I think we get it. You don't like the idea that Aion has a decent sized following, you can stop spewing the negative all over the forums. Honestly, I believe you have already been told multiple times that Aion is NOT about "innovation" or bringing something entirely new to the market so stop using that  as a justification for unnecessary remarks against it. Fewer bugs can mean simple, but it can also mean careful developers.

You want something new. Aion is obviously not going to stand up to your criteria. Move on and wait a few more decades for your ideal game.

It might be a few years before mainstream game developers realise that level grind mmos have gone out of fashion.  Until that point I won't be buying into any p2p games.

Umm, I am pretty sure that MMOs have JUST come into fashion.  It will be a long long time before a mainstream developer goes away from the level based system.

That's right because who cares about character progression anymore, it's all about the endgame. And if you don't play the endgame, that is either raiding or PvP sieges, then frack you and go play Oblivion, Witcher, Mass Effect ect..  This is what is going on in eq2 atm and is effectively killing off some of the population....

Again be careful what you wish for.

 

 edit: This is a general response to Pludd and his claim that level 'grind' needs to die, and is not reflective of Aion.

There are MMOs out there that dont focus on a level based system. Take Guild Wars for one. That's pretty huge.

Maybe it will take you a few years to realize that MMO's are not for you. Well enjoy your F2P games I see that Runes of Magic is projected to be the best F2P MMO. So good that its supposed to compete with P2P. Oh btw duel class leveling system, oh snap, not for you.

Good point, it'll be interesting to see what GW2 will do because that will more of an MMO then GW is... But wait didn't I hear GW2's max level is 50? .... Need to look that up.

edit: did a quick search and the level cap could be as high as 100.... lol. :P

Companies that try to build there own game engine in house from scratch are likely to be riddled with bugs. stability, workability of the game engine not content is what matters in reguards to bugs.

Some people cant afford to pay for MMOs. I know I used to be like that but now I pay for them.

Some people cant afford to pay for MMOs. I know I used to be like that but now I pay for them.

 

From my experience, you end up paying more for so-called F2P MMOs, since they have those "item shops" which you just have to use if you don't want to fall behind.

Anyway, thanks for info on Aion, I wish I lived in Korea and could try it out

Some fluff updates..

There is armor dye. And apparently there are NPCs who can alter what gear looks like. So two people could be wearing "So n So Robe" and graphically look 100% different not just the color of it.

I believe these NPC's are not available til level 30 but i'm not 100% on that.

 

When crafting weapons/armor there will be various graphics you can select upon crafting the item. EG. You could make "Sword of the whatever" x2. And each could have different graphics..  I have not expirenced this personally yet in game so I can't give 100% confirmation but I've seen numerous people speaking about it including some english speaking folks in game.

Can you move around while in vendor status? FFXI was my first real MMORPG, I found it nice that I could sell stuff and walk around without having to keep shouting and pressing the trade function.

After playing games that had the vendor function, but you had to stay in place to do so, I was like... WTF?

 

It's lame to having to stay put while selling stuff.

 Most MMOs do not allow you to walk around while selling stuff so I would not hold my breathe about that feature.

imo individual carts + an AH is not such a bad idea. take WoW for example... AH is there but alot of people tend to spam trade chat anyways. This is probably due to 1) trading directly avoids AH tax and 2) people tend to put up overcharged goods in auction houses.

don't think its such a bad idea to compliment both features.

I don't believe they are having a closed beta. What they are going to have are beta events. My guess is that they will be similar to the Guild Wars events.
