Based on the most recent videos, live showings, tv coverage, and screenshots.... I (and many others) are of the opinion that the graphics are way better than WAR, WoW so if those games are also insulting...i think DF is going to do just fine.

Funny how people have a one track mind and read what they want to read. Where exactly did i "sleg" down WAR's graphics? I like WAR graphics. I played WAR, and WoW (similar graphics) and thought they were both enjoyable for the exact reason you gave about the IP. However i think Darkfall's are WAY better. It is possible for people to have a favorite game and NOT bash various other games completely. Some people on this forum should try it sometime. UO has neither. "Everyone" never played UO to begin with it was a very niche game. It's a false choice anyway. There is a minimal level of graphics people find acceptable and a minimum level of game play. You need both. As individuals people will decide if Darkfall meets those criteria. I like good gameplay but I also like good graphics. However, I'd still pick gameplay over graphics. If you tell me to go play UO, I don't mind. However, I am currently playing a MMO with even worse graphics than UO, so I don't think that will really prove your point. |

I don't think they look "awful" at all.
Look at the foliage, the shading, the lighting -- those are not dated in comparison to any of the MMOs on the market, aside from AoC, and we all know what a great success that one has been with the gaming community! The Black Knight looks like pure cheese whiz, but if you look at the lighting and other things, it is obvious that it is the artistic style that is stupid, not the actual graphics engine. The bottom line is that if you look at any current major MMO you're not going to be able to show me anything that makes those screenshots look "awful"...so, while I am willing to be objective and am hardly a blind fan of Darkfall, I don't think its as dated as you're making it out to be. As for the gameplay vs graphics thing, it makes no sense to use 10 year old games as a basis for that argument. What most people mean when they say that is the graphics don't have to be an A+ if the gameplay is good. Does your avatar make you powerful in real life? www.mysticalenders.com |

The worry for me was is animations which looked kinda crappy at times but who knows how that'll turn out. See thats just it, its like looking at a Playboy, and expecting the women to look that attractive, when we all know they airbrush to make the product look better than it really is. Just because you said "based on the video and.....", you havent differentiated between the two. All you have to do is admit that since you havent played the game and seen the actual in game graphics, you dont know if you'll like them or not. All you can say is, I like the graphics in the videos and screenshots, allthough thats no real indicator of what the ingame graphics will be like. You are giving creedence to the positive possibility, while ignoring the opposing possibility, as all the fans seem to do. |

I made one point, very simple, and even now you are admitting you misread and made a mistake...but instead of just saying that you are trying to make a point. I agree that there is a difference between videos and in game graphics, i said that in my first post whether you want to believe it or not. End of story , very simple, yet you still want a debate about something that isnt there to debate. Based on the videos it appears that the graphics are better than WAR. Thats what i said. Which clearly states that i believe if the graphics in the video are what we will see in game then they are better. Which clearly means that if they arent the same then it may be different. Im sorry arckne but i hope you find whatever you are looking for on these boards, but im going to have to put you on block.
