After watching a good portion of all the game footage, I noticed that the Asmodians are getting their asses kicked left, right and center by the frail-looking, pretty-boi Elyos. If there is a video where it's the other way around, I might have missed it. It just seems to me that NCSoft might just place their favor for the Elyos, and that would be a shame. Elyos might get more 'stuff' if my guess is right.

I personnally am picking an Asmodian, and granted that all classes are available for both races, I will be chosing the Cleric class(is that what it's called?) simply to try to balance out the game. To me it would seem that the majority of the Aion fans will pick Elyos, my reason for wanting to choose Asmodian, and for Cleric well let's face it, nobody wants to be the healer in a MMORPG and I haven't seen too many of those in all of the MMORPG's I've played.

I'm just concerned that Asomdians will have the shitty end of the stick. Has anyone else noticed this?

The factions are the same, The only difference is the devine power skills for each faction.

Actualy one could argue the opposite, but from an advertising standpoint it is easier for Joe "the gamer" to think good vs evil rather then the complex lore that they have. So the Elyos will win in ads because they are "good" I suppose

Or it could be the fact that Asmo tends to attract more hardcore players so far, from people already learning about the game I think its a 60% asmo 40% elyos from the aionsource polls.

I don't know if you and me are the only ones that enjoy playing a healer. But at least we will two. May be i have to go Elyos to keep the balance .

Seriously talking, tanks, healers, buffers are not the most popular classes but it's courious that in almost all the best clans i have been we get more tanks and healers than really we need.

I hope Aion is going to have a good balance of all 8 classes.

I have never been so confused about which race to pick in my life of MMO's. On one hand i love being the bad guys. On the other hand, Elyos sky city looks unbeleivably amazing. Yet i love the dark style of asmodian home city, but the fact that it is not floating is kind of a turnoff now that elyos get floating cities.

Some people only talk sh!t online. I'll talk sh!t online and i'll say it to your face.

Actually both side would have enough players to remain balanced.  The player race choice will not exceed the threshhold to unbalance the game usually.  Considering the type of PvPvE this game uses, numbers will not always determine the winner either.

Even if lets say race choice on a server is Elyos 60% and Asmo 40%.  Even if every single player participate in the Abyss.  It does not mean Elyos will win pvp conflict in the Abyss (not taking in account of the NPC race appearing either).  Even if a bigger difference appears, always a way to fix it.

I won't really choose my race till it is time to make my character.  I don't care which race as long as I am satisfied with my avatar.

As far as NCsoft favoring one race over the other.  Pure white wings is always easier to use to apeal the masses, but I doubt they favor one enough to make a difference to game balance.  That is suicide attempt for any game.

They made something interesting with the beta sign ups, let's see how that turns out in terms of balance.

I liked how they opened servers as soon as the previous ones were getting completely filled, instead of releasing an estimate which could have leaded to too many servers, 10 days before the real thing happened.

Anyways, both races are equally liked (always depending on where you ask). I honestly can say I haven't decided yet and it will all come down to racial skills, once we get detailed lists.

It's a tough choice between the two, before we knew what the Asmodians looked like there was a small debate whether they would end up ugly and monster like or pretty just like the Elyos. I'm glad they went pretty with an ounce of badass. If I hadn't picked my guild before seeing the Asmos, I think I would have picked them as my race. In fact I will play on another server and at least go through the first 20 levels with an Asmo.

I was worried it would've been like WoW, to me Blizard just seems to adore their Horde races, they just seem much more interesting and have better racial abilities, whereas the Alliance races are just kinda boring and have racial abilities that nobody uses. :/

...and how can you pick your guild already before the game has been released? I never quite understood that.

I'm a heavy forumer, I liked the people in said guild at the source forums and so joined. I join guilds that have people I like. Simple. I also don't join guilds based on needs, like item needs or goals.

I don't understand why people do that. If people are cool, have a sense of humor and are down to earth, awesome that's all I'm asking for. ;)

Some people join guilds ahead of time to be at the top and beat the content as fast as possible. I find that reason pointless, but who am I to judge?

Also a lot of the pre-made guilds come from another game... The guild is there, they just need a new game. ^_^

I always play on the side that has the darker more foreboding looking cities, armor, skills, etc.  SO...THIS time I'm going to play Elyos, although my initial impulse when I first started following this game was to roll Asmodian.

By the way....I play healers too. :)  So now there are 3 of us, and there's a "balance" issue again.  OH NOOOOES!  ;0)

After having played most major MMOs on the market, I am presently waiting to see what game developers will do with the genre. In the meantime, I have returned to EQ2 and single player RPGs. I support games of all genres. Every gamer should have a game they truly enjoy.
