I've only recently bothered to check gameplay videos of Aion and search a bit on the game's features. And although the graphics seem decent (a bit too anime for my tastes but I can live with that), when I looked at the combat animations....oh my God! The sounds and animations of combat remind me of coin-op machines back in the early 90s. They are frightfully similar, to be honest. Is there going to be a Western version with tweaked art-style (always with regard to animations and sounds) or is this going to be the final gold version? I was thinking of giving it a try but it would be impossible to find myself immersed with combat like this.
PS: This is not a troll post but a serious question |

I like the combat - it is different, interesting, fun and fast paced. Removing it would just take away another selling point the game has. ------------------------------

As far as i know, they are working in the localization for western countries and talked about not just translation but some cultural localization too. Anyway i don't think it is going to include combat sounds and animations. Just in case you have only checked the youtube videos, (that I'm sure you know you can't make a good judgments on them because low quality and so) you can try the videos here http://www.mmorpg.com/discussion2.cfm/thread/208764 to get a more accurate impression. |

this makes absolutely no sense; I said I fancied trying the game, but expressed serious concerns over something which, for me, is a turn-off.
Is it prohibited to express dislikes? And I thought the Darkfall forums had a bad name with fanbois... |

you know, for someone who has never heard of this game, finding the right sources is not as self-evident as it may seem.
Anyway, thanks for the link. |

A western tester said it's ok for Korea but it could be annoying for a western audience and reported it to the Aion community team. Don't know what they made of this remark, though. Maybe you could switch off your own shouting in the options. |

It's okay to be sceptical but don't say something that isn't right =S
This mmorpg seems to be doing things right on every accord, also making grouping more attractive is great, been waiting for one of those which felt like it had a meaning being in groups again, outside of the dungeons, battle mini games, or Battlegrounds.
Aion looks great, moves great, and feels great. |

After having watched the latest HR videos, I can attest that combat is indeed a major turn-off for me. Anyway, I guess it's what they say to each, his own. |

I don't know how anybody can be turned off by the combat in this game, it's so much more exciting and fast paced than other games. If you take WoW for example, practically every skill as a warrior just recycles the same dull animation (either a spin-slash or a fast slash, possible with a little bit or animated blood). In Aion, every skill has is unique and just plain look cool Maybe it's because My first MMO was korean and i grew up on JRPGs, but I love everything about Aion. To each his own I suppose |

Indeed, some people like ugly awkward combat, and some like over the top flashy combat. /shrug. :D I'm actually curious to see what Bioware will do with Old Republic since they've expressed combat in most MMO's is neantherdal. But anyway. (,,,)=^__^=(,,,)Game Latte Vidcast |

I clicked on that link, and you said it will be a live feed? Hmm. Well it's working, but just doesn't seem to show anything other than in-game footage that you would see on youtube. Guess I'll really have to wait until nov. 11th lol |

Stayontarget... don't be attacking every person who comes with a skeptical opinion of Aion. What hurts aion's rep more than any troll is a community that can not respond to another's questions or opinions in a respectful manner. It's almost 2010, and I am just not wiling to tolerate clunky graphics while being told that "gameplay is more important than graphics". That excuse won't wash with me any more. I expect my games to have both good graphics and good gameplay. |
