Hey do they really need to make a Aion NA  Beta testing just like the Korean one ? I mean  once they tweak the game just the right way on Korean version cant they just make a duplicate English version for NA ?

I'm asking this because 1st Ide love to get this game at christmas time 2nd it would be great to  get the patches at the same time or close to the Korean version this time :).

I think you're underestimate the work involved in localizing a game and preparing for its release! ;)

We have no intention of releasing Aion in anything but brilliant shape. That means that we're taking our time to ensure localization is properly done (including cultural adaptions), that server infrastructure is reliable and working, and not to forget -- that people know about the game. It's been a good ride so far, and we're still not up for an entirely clear lane. Release is 2009, and we'll get back with a date or more precise time span as soon as we can.

Yes I know but at this point I think I'm underestimating a bit but NC Soft is a successful company and are located in the united states maybe they could have pulled it off if they planned ahead of time but I'm probably underestimating again lol.

I do think that when Aion is released in the united states it will have many more players then when Lineage II was released even without  offline advertising mainly because mmo's are more mainstream these days. But yeah there are people that dont know about Aion yet . I'm asking around in another mmo i play if their going to play Aion when the game releases and about 50% of them say yes and the other 50% dont know about it yet.

Same here, I have been trying to find the answer to that also.

NCsoft West is in the US, and they are slightly less successful. See Auto Assault, Tabula Rasa, etc etc. Aion is (thankfully) being done by the NCsoft of Lineage/2 aka NCsoft East which is very not in the US.

And we can only hope it doesn't appeal to a damn one of them. Keep in mind the boom in the MMO genre and it going mainstream was a result of WoW which has completely bastardized and hosed just about any chance of a decent MMO that has more complexity than smashing your face on the keyboard and being granted loot ever coming out. I have higher hopes for Aion than that. Warhammer already screwed the pooch again and offered up another WoW clone, we don't want more, and the community bred from WoW is only fueling the fire. I would be quite happy with this becoming a niche game so that we can be spared the smacktards of the WoW-like MMO community.

As for the movie, awesome, I just wish it had a high res version ;_;.

I always thought thaT NCSOFT West was in charge of L2. I do agree with you about the game being bastardised lol but lets hope they dont go the direction of WoW.

Actually they might be, because I remember something about Richard Garriot when Lineage 2 came around. I think they might have just been in charge of the western release, not the development, as I'm pretty sure NCsoft East did everything related to Lineage and basically nothing else until Aion came along.

But the main problem with lineage 2 was its handleing in the US. Although some would say the grind given the release that wasnt that uncommon at the time, it was inbetween 1st gen and 2nd gen mmos so the high level curve was expected. The thing that plagued lineage 2 was the inflation, bots, goldfarmers and the massive dependence on buffs.
