Then go on , dont follow Df or hold your breath , you may never get a box release depending on your area and what happens , it might be DD only for some people , only difference at all what so ever is you dont have a cardboard square with a plastic cd and a paper book in it , big deal..
I too realy like to have a box version , i would love nothing more than to have a nice looking DF box so i can set it next to my pc screen and swoon over it every time i look up , but if that doesnt happen its not going to change the game or my interst in it in the least.

The fanboy regime has been high on the hog hyping Darkfall in any forum they can touch in overdrive...like it is the second coming. There is no way it can live up to that type of scrutiny. As to Vaporware rumors, as one person said...this game has been discussed close to 10 years? In one form or other (I would like to see that corroborated. I only know of at least 3+). How is that NOT like Vapor. Yes, it is real now, but there is no way it can meet any expectations.
His point is that hyping does not automatically equal failure. Something you seemed to miss. I would also like like to point out that the hype for DF is entirely generated by the fans. I was not privy to the hype for you examples, but I would ask you: how many of these games did the company advertise like crazy before they even began beta? (Note: if you look carefully at the announcement you will see that Tasos speaks in the past and present tenses about actions performed by public beta testers.) A paltry one million subs? What are you smoking? One million subs is a huge number compared to most MMOs out there. If you would compare it to WoW then I would suggest that look up what an outlier is. WoW is not indicative of the average MMO. In fact, it's subscriber base is so incogruous with that of most MMOs that it is quite likely in that catagory where it's number is thrown out when determining the average (outlier). Also, since when did 8 become equivalent to 10?
Just thought you might be interested in forumfalls reaction to your post. I am a skeptical supporter of DF. I am not a fanboi nor a troll. I seek the truth in every discussion, and I am truly sorry if I mistakenly state a fallacy. |

Sorry to rain on the parade here...but I can imagine that although the game is launching...I know that there will not be any physical box in the EBgames here due to the name. They have to change their name to something else if they want to release in NA. guess all we will see here is EU servers. I can just imagine how frustrated NA residents will get when this game "launches" |

OMG, Is something burning, Dam you Darkfall for setting these flames! You and your non-hyped machine. 8 years in the making what where you thinking? Making a game ready to realease what are you mad? |

And with both WAR and AOC i knew they would either fail, or do well and have a bunch of "dummies" trolling forums saying how much it sucks. There is not a MMO in all of history, that hasnt had some guy say he "KNOWS IT FAILED ON EPIC PROPORTIONS".. You my fellow forumer are one of these people. Also, since when does "Vaporware" and "Fail or Success" Have ANYTHING to do with eachother. All this news has done is shut up alot of vapor trollers, but we see the ignorance in the fact that some still go on. Be as realistic as you want, Hell even i wont guarentee this game will be a success. But If you smell fail already, you have some problems. Some people only talk sh!t online. I'll talk sh!t online and i'll say it to your face. |

Correction, earlier this year, very foolish and silly people considered it vaporware. The proof has been out there for anyone that wanted to look. They would just much rather laugh at this game than support it though. People are morons that way. It didnt' go from "vaporz" to "release" in no time flat, because it was never vaporware... |

Tasos said along time ago that they are going to test it so much that it'll be ready for release very soon after beta. He's just holding to his word.
Yes its been hyped but it's all been underground hype....not media hollywood bull$#1+, like most AAA MMO's out there.
I'm not a fanboi. It could fail but it could be great too. If it fails I will lose hope for the MMO universe until another seeming limitless non linear game comes out. |

This game didn't even remotely fail. All the hype was for Middle Earth Online, which got the axe a year before LotRO was released (a facelift of MEO). There were no high expectations for LotRO, and it had the best launch of any MMO in the past 5 years. Almost 100% bug free. Doesn't make it a great game though... I can go on if you wish... None of these games can even get just a paltry 1 million scrips.1 million is not a paltry number by any standards. 200k is considered a great success. WoW is just an outlier, not applicable to normal MMO standards. Its not something possbile to reproduce, as much as companies try. They'd somehoe have to make a more dumbed down game than WoW is, problem is, all those noobs the easy games(WoW) cater to, are already playing WoW. There are no more. Yet, here we go again. So, I just watched the video that was previously linked... and here's what I see: The UI -- The interface rivals that of Anarchy Online... that's right, an age old, ancient MMO. That is EXACTLY what this interface looks like. There's no style, no graphics, just plain blue lines, text, and black, hooray? The Animation -- The characters walk like they have sticks up their arses, and look at that mount animation... the mount is bobbing like a freaking pendulum, congrats on the least life-like animations ever boys, congrats. Walking -- Yes... walking. Seriously. I have never seen anyone walk that slow. What, are we going to attack each other at a snails pace, and see who gets bored first? Graphics -- The graphics look good. Not great, but good. Everything looks a little too plastic for me, but still, it's not that bad. All in all though, ready for release? You've got to be kidding me. PS, at the end of the video THE GAME CRASHES!!! Are you kidding me? HA. If you're looking forward to this game, cool... but honestly, if not even the devs can make it look fun, who can? EDIT: Here's the video that was previously linked, if anyone wants to see what i'm talking about.

The riding mount animations look retarded, but over all it didn't look too bad. I liked the archery and spell first person. Most games hose that up horribly.

I'm a fanboy and even i don't believe that. A 3-4 week beta is just too short to fix all the bugs that will come up. I doubt they'll rush the game now after 7 years of constant delays that have almost completely destroyed their credibility in the eyes of the MMO community. Well it's all for me grog, me jolly jolly grog,
all for me beer and tobacco! |

There is recent footage of them playing the game for almost half an hour, plus 7 other gameplay videos and over 620 screenshots.
You fail.

Excuse me, if you want to blindly believe that a company that has consistently failed to allow any outsider to actually play the game and report on it, actually has a playable game you are truely overly trusting. All those videos only show what they want you to see. It is so easy to stage video of what you know as working in the game and then put it on the web. You can do that with any game that is years from release. If they have such a great game then why are they hiding it? Huh? The only reason to hide anything, especially in this industry, is if you have something to hide. So far Adventurine has done nothing to make us trust them. They are basically good at hype and disinformation, beyond that who knows. Personally I would love to see one of these Indie firms put out something worthwhile. The big gorilla's in this industry won't budge from the Wow mold and will only change if someone small takes a chance and succeeds.

The devs never poured loads into marketting and hype like the aoc or war devs, infact Darkfall never received any hype other than what a few fans gave it and the hype is due it being the only real full pvp game in the making for quite a few years. |

Excuse me if you only seem to get your info from this website and not the official one. They have welcomed at least 2 people to play their game live in the studios and have reported on it. They arent hiding anything. Unless you consider a 17min 100% ingame footage video, and a 30min+ live demonstration of the game being played online (not some offline mode) at a convention hiding...then i dont know. And as far as them only showing us what they wanted to....thats silly. If that was true they wouldnt have been playing it online. Im sure the internet going down at the end of the video wasnt planned lol. And even though it was the internet and not the game...lets just say they are lieing about that for the sake of arguement. What game still in beta doesnt have some crashes? Hell WAR still has CTD issues and its a few months after release!!! ~~ Darkfall Recap of everything that has happened the last 3 months: http://www.mmorpg.com/discussion2.cfm/thread/213296 "The monsters are tough. I was looking for a challenge, but these things are just too damn smart." -DF Beta Tester "If people were dismissing it, then they wouldn't be talking about it. The well-meaning gamers root for efforts that try to raise the bar. So who's left? It's so easy being a skeptic." -Tasos |

I am taking a two month vacation from work mid December to mid February just to play Darkfall non stop. I already feel the excitement of early EQ days. |

First of all, they lost connection to the greek internet, the game didn't crash. way to pay attention! And your only bad points for this game are the graphics and animations? This must be the best game ever because evrything else is perfect. Seriously, if you want shiny graphics go play AoC. It's unbelievable how retarded the MMORPG.com community is, learn to read up on something before you open your hole. You guys are a bunch of stupid kids who want to play free korean MMOs with shiny graphics and spit on anything that isn't exactly that. If you are too blind to see what Darkfall could be then that is really a shame... |
