does that mean there are only 5 or so quests between level 1 and 20ish or are those the "must do" ones. I started playing FFXI with my brother but gave up about 8th lvl, couldnt find quests to level on and combat/characters were dull - we were trying to find quests to do but didnt find a quest giver, I assume that we just didnt know what to look for.

Oh, worry not, there are several more quests you can complete around these levels, these are just the most useful for new characters that I had in mind. To find quests it can be a little difficult, any random person can give a quest, so sometimes you just have to keep looking around. “The contents of this post do not necessarily reflect the views of MMORPG.com and its management.” |

I also tried FFXI - didn't get past lvl 10, mainly due to lost exp... Anyway, by what I read, FFXI seems to be a group/grind-oriented game. So you get together with other ppl and start killing things. Through it you get to know the so much talked-about 'wonderful' story of FFXI. |

Originally posted by mylin1 IMO,the quests in FFXI are not that good.Questing in FFXI is not very good for making gil nor is it any good for xp,unlike other games that xp off of quests. There is a few ideas to grind for gil early on in the game, and new players SHOULD go after these.Gil becomes a real problem VERY quickly in this game,so you should start saving more than you need early on. Myself i always went after crawlers in saruta for there silk. Two players or a very well geared vet can take these down level 3.Silk for years sold around 10k a stack ,no idea what it is now ,but i would bet it's stil laround 8k? maybe.Anyhow if you are willing to spend a few hours at it and learn/cycle the spawn points you can bring home some real good gil. One thing i can recommend is FISHING.It is often scoffed at as not much of a gil maker but i disagree.Once you get to catching Black Sole, you can sell it for a decent amount. As time goes along you can hand in crafts to your guild master for pts.The points would allow you to gain [FISH HANDLING]to use in making Sushi. At the very worst,it is still handy to be able to make your own Sushi for yourself or friends. It takes a lot of time as you would also need to raise COOKING up high enough to make Sushi. It is a VERY tough road ,through crafting as it would cost you tons just to get there, but in the long run it pays off. One thing this game lacks bigtime is a NPC to sell goods to for a decent price. As it is players must rely on the auction house and a dead economy.Veteran players can make there own or know people who can make it for them,so the AH relies on the few newcomers who join the game every day. You can look up quests at Allakhazam website, this way you can plan ahead, for things like gaining your ninja scroll or drain scroll.I might also add, that you need a certain rank in each city to allow new quests to open up.You get that by doing the lowest quests and working your way up.
