It really surprises me that after all these years nintendo is still afraid to venture into the online community with an mmorpg. With such a rich history of characters and many creative devs I couldn't see anyone more fit to make a mmorpg with the quality "fun" as the key point. |

Nintendo is still taking baby steps into limited online multiplayer. I could just imagine a Pokemon MMO but to fight/group with anyone you would have to exchange Friend Codes first. Sounds hilarious and unfortunately would probbaly be true. |

Its bound to happen, you just wait. Heck even cartoon network has an MMORPG in development as we speak. Hi! My name is paper. Nerf scissors, rock is fine. |

Could see some mileage in a Marioland: Online type game. Although I'd rather gouge my eyes out with a fork than play it. |

I'd like to see a Mega Man classic MMO from Nintendo. And on a more realistic note.. a Battletech MMO will do just fine. |

The Wii's a bit limted in terms of hardware for a MMO, though Monster Hunter 3 has some elements of a MMO and at the moment is the closest thing your going to get. |

I love Nintendo, but to me its pretty obvious why they havent ventured too much into online gaming. Nintendo is very much about storytelling and taking the user in different directions. They also need to be in control of everything that happens in their games, and especially that kids are "safe" playing their games. Nintendo would never be comfortable running a gameworld, where people could do, behave and talk like they wanted to. The simple concept of verbal abuse which is SO present in many MMO's would be a deal breaker on Nintendos part and would ruin a vital part of their reputation; especially amongst the parents-segment. A great example of this is the "chat" in Mario Kart Wii, where friends are allowed a sort of communication while deciding on where to play. The communication is done via a bunch of predefined sentences, and it really gets frustrating fast! This is how they control what the gamer does in their online "world". Imagine the verbal often gay-discriminating abuse being delivered in HALO multiplayer on the XBOX...not very Nintendo-like ;) Too bad, as communication between players IMO is the most mportant aspect of online-gaming these days. --------- |

Actually, Nintendo had one of the first online games on the console market.
Phantasy Star Online.
Theres also rumor of a Pokemon MMO in the works. |

I am aware phantasy star was on the Dreamcast. And like everything else from the Dremcast, it ended up on the gamecube. Also, Zelda MMo would suck. Why does everyone assume great single player games will = great multiplayer games? Though I suppose Zelda lends itself better to the MMo idea than these nutters that think Kotor and Elderscrolls will make good ones. |

Yes, I can see it now. "Lets all raid Ganondorf for the 100th time, yay!" Zelda would be a terrible idea for an MMO its story is so limiting. I mean come on how many Zelda games are out there and what do you do in every one of them? Yeah, kill Ganon save Zelda.
It's a Jeep thing. . .

I mean come on how many Zelda games are out there and what do you do in every one of them? Yeah, kill Ganon save Zelda. Actually thats not really true. You hardly ever rescue Zelda, only a handful of them. And the Zelda storyline is one of the most complex stories in video games right now.
Elderscrolls is again, an open-ended story with tons of possibilities. Elderscrolls is also a poor example, because you cannot do half the things that you can in Elderscrolls if it was online. The quests would be different, you wouldn't be able to kill anyone you want, likely wouldn't go anywhere you wanted. It'd have to be changed, limited. The FREEDOM has always been the pull of Elderscrolls, and once you take that away, the 'story" is rather crappy.
ZELDA on the other hand, already has the established location/races/common enemy. I still think its a bad idea, but better than the other two. |

The problem with today's MMOs is that none of them are original. Everything is based off of a specific IP and they are just not done correctly to make both fans of the MMO genre happy and those of the IP. It's a Jeep thing. . .

Posts like this confirm that some (there seem to be an increasingly high amount of them) MMO "fans" obviously don't know what an MMO is or secretely hate the genre.
There is not one thing about Nintendo that you could even remotely claim would make a good MMO. They are having a lot of success in their own market, but I'm kind of tired of all these companies suddenly "drinking the MMO kool-aid" (in other words, milk you for your money with a horrible MMO). |

Well, with the release of Animal Crossing: City Folk on the Wii, Nintendo is taking a closer step to an MMO. With the ability to visit each other's towns and an auction house. And with the release of Animal Crossing, they are releasing the Wii Speak . Read about it here. |

zomg mega man or pokemon mmo plz!!!! |

Maybe it wont work a zelda mmo but come on, swtor will be same kind of mmo as wow only its in sw settings. And if a elderscroll mmo i rather see daggerfall-morrowind then an oblivion. Oblivion was nice but to much casual if elderscroll at lease a good sandbox with good pvp not mass market themepark mmo we already have so many on market.
Bethesda are good rpg makers but if mmo they need to go sandbox. |

I would love a lighthearted Super Mario RPG-styled MMO. Waiting for Fallen Earth, World of Darkness, Old Republic, FFXIV |

I would like to see Mushroom Kingdom Online.

True, ive pondered how a combat system would work for it and the best thing i've been able to come up with it something *similiar* to DBZ budokai but not quiet the same. Would also need one of the best character customizations to. like the ability to create shapes out of a small blank square. (the ability to create your own robot master and name him) Dreaming.. |
