lmao........blah blah blah, random data, blah blah, xyz's opinon, blah blah.......
This game, is what it is, it is a tight RvR PvP based game, that most of the folks leaving, don't get, or don't care to.....sure it has it's flaws, but I will say this for Mythic, they are a good customer oriented team, that is listening to it's player base as much as humanly possible\feesable.
Say what you will, but the launch of WAR is \ was one of the strongest, and tightest launches for an MMO in , oh let's see YEARS, heh......
Jo Blow can pull data how ever they want....but unless you work at Mythic, your not gonna get a real # for actual sub'd and playing population, regardless......
You folks that enjoy the game, keep doing so.....heh.....start "worrying" when merges are actually announced.
Does everyone think this game needs to hit close to WoW sub numbers in it's hay day or what?! That is retarded......this is an RvR game, not everyone is gonna play it or like it.....that's just a fact. (You can tell teh ignorant, as they stand around in Warcamps and what not waiting on their scenario to queue up, OMFG go do something while your waiting! gasp)
I play on Wolfenburg, and although teh posted numbers for my server are not the highest, I have NEVER logged in and found a ghost town, no matter the pairing or tier......
Part of the problem with not "finding a group" and what not is the fact MOST players look for that "OP" well op, heh.....hence toss peeps in lava till you puke scenario, even though there are like 5 scenarios at that tier....jfc, try something new.....lol
Public Quests is a BRAND new thing, nay it is not perfect, but IMO one of the coolest implementations of character advancement in a LONG time.....
Ahh hell......why bother, rofl......WAR should have never been any of your alls "The ONE" MMO.....seriously folks.....the game is doing good, and I guarentee you that Mythic has more in store......
Waiting on MortalOnline, TCoS, DF, and anyother MMO that has something appealing to it, nod |

I for one am not a power gamer i just enjoy the game, and im in no rush at all to level i believe a good 75 % of the pop are the same ( i might be wrong im not perfect ). And by no means is this game perfect but i believe it will have a good future and cant understand why people want it to fail and revel in the fact that it might ? baffels me |

Originally posted by zimmy910 It takes time to reach the maximum level. My highest char is only 26, and I've played since launch (I do have a level 22 character, two level 12 characters and a level 11 too). My guess is casual players who are playing only 1 character (all players I know seem to try out multiple classes to figure out what they like best, though, so not sure how realistic it is to assume only 1 character) will take about 3 months to reach max level, and the game's only been out for a bit over a month. At any rate, only so-called "rushers" would be max level by now, even if the retention rate was 100%. |

How many people play WAR?? Is it more than AoC? ------------------------------
|
|

Here, Ill quote myself (sorta) "Jo Blow can pull data how ever they want....but unless you work at Mythic, your not gonna get a real # for actual sub'd and playing population, regardless......"
But I am pretty confident that with all teh anti AoC bandwaggon jumping that went on, as well as other facts that there is a larger playerbase in WAR then AoC atm. /shrug I could be wrong, but I dunna think so.... |

game has a decent player base just atm alot of ppl are standing to the side waitin for the big update coming in december that will, by theory, fix most if not all the issues with the game. |

He's wrong about the 100k anyway, pretty sure I read a report somewhere stating that WAR had to have around 250k subscribers to break even.

"Break even" as on a monthly basis? |
|
|
That seems doubtful. I assume it was based on some x year Return on investment plan. Although i guess it would really depend on how much they sold to begin with... hmmm

EA has TONS of money, and running this game is a minor expense for them. They would keep it around even if it had *less* than 100k, just because of the negative PR that comes with a public failure. I think they'll keep above 250k subs easily, especially after they've had some time to fix the game up, and add the additional classes. And there will be solid growth after that. LOTRO had a similar big-hype launch followed by a big loss of players cycle (sorry, it's not WoW, so go back to Wow), and they've been growing steadily ever since then, with enough interest to launch a paid expansion. I think that war will stablize at a reasonable sub base. I think it will settle at 200-300k... Generally war is a pretty good game and not terribly broken. The quick server mergest is a brilliant move on Mythics part. I know personally if I was responsible for a game launch I'd have the ability to move accounts between servers available day one! I would totally expect to have more servers at launch then after 6 months. I'd probably lease my computer equipment month to month the first year so I could downscale without loosing a lot of investment. So far Mythic seems to be making the right moves. |

I think the game can still hit 1 mill subs, but they have some work to do, to regain the people who quit and continue to sell new boxes. But, the flip side is Mythic seems to be very much on the ball in this regard. A major patch in December and 2 of the cut classes. Seems like a great start. Also, many people who said they quit are just waiting for a few months for more content and bugs to be fixed. Wow didnt start with 11 mill subs -- nowhere near that. Also WOTL is coming up and it will take some of those fence sitting wow players to realize it is the same old crap from tbc reheated all over again. WAR is at a crossroads, but I truse Mythic will lead it down the correct one. |

WoW has too much inertia, especially with the new xpac being released. WAR is going to have to fight to keep its subs above 250k, there's just been too much negativity surounding it's launch. Yes I think it's going to be a much better game soon, but most MMO players these days are ADD-addled, and any new MMO release has to be just about PERFECT at launch or most of the masses will run back to their safe and predictable Blizzard home. Get over your superior self on that ADD comment. Here is the truth. In the past, people were willing to put up with problems. Part of it was the type of users, but also partially due to choice. When UO first came out, how many mmorpg options did players have to choose from when problem reared their ugly head? Now WAR comes out and has it's issues, how many mmorpg options do players have today? Many more and because of market pressure, they don't have to put up with it. |

I played on Phoenix Throne one of the CE servers and considered highly populated even though it says med/med. The place is a ghost town. Pray to God, Row for shore. |

DAoC would have been more of a hit than EQ2. I played WaR in beta and playing it now... imo it is fun, I play WoW 2 yrs, never much of a PvP player... in WAR, I love it. I feel DAoC would have proven a much better game with the balance issues discovered in DAoC, but never fixed. WAR has the same issues with balance... I feel, that if ORDER creations were made to look *Cool* like those of Dest, then I feel, that the % of players playing would have made the servers more balanced. I hvae talked to many, the Better you look, the more you would like to play. Like today, I was in WAR Scenarios 19 times.... we won 2 times. If this continues, than you will see an EXODUS from Order.... leaving this game in such a flux, that it will feel as I did with AoC..... *Vacate asap* I like WAR in the most part, even though as an Order guy, I feel.,,,,.,,.,.,.,. like the continious underdog

So I hope for you and the other boys it will not be the case, but I was impressed in seeing so few negative reactions - even on mmorpg.com And short "it sucks" comments are always disgarded by me. |

^^A major patch in December^^ I read same As in my earlier patch, the reason why more players when Dest??? becasue the *toons* looked really cool.
look at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CdWP0WfUxJc vs http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EU9E3yeCa0U .. what would you like to play? The majority of players would love to have the Best/Coolest looking dude on the block...
