i havent played since early 2007.  i wasn't a well known member or anything, and i had only played for a few months at that time, but i am really missing a true tactical mmo like this and im really debating on coming back.

Just wondering what i should expect to see new in game.  i dont want every patch note or anything, but new features that you guys like would be nice to hear about.

and also, i dont know anyone in game anymore.  Anyone have recommendations for clans/guilds, whatever they are called, for either axis or allied?  im not biased towards either side.

I been playing so far, and to be honest I was expecting clans to be inviting all over. But have yet to be asked any, but dont matter for me. I guess ill find a unit to play with as time goes, atm I am mostly playing support to others I see doing initiatives. Joining tank columns, joining as a fighter or bomber for air missions and so on. I am not good at anything, but as long as I can be an extra target or bring something to the ones doing the group attack / defence, im happy.

There can be only one

Lots has changed, and more good stuff to come.

Version 1.29 is due to go into open beta very very soon (a few days, I'm thinking).

The new website is updated several times a week with dev info and community news. You can also sign up for an RSS feed or news via email if you like.  Here's an article on what to expect with 1.29:

If you're looking for a squad, check out the recruitment forums:

Hope you come back and give it a try!

All squads can auto invite now so allot of people don't bother scouting for new memberys anymore because if you are ranked as a recruiter they come to you most times. Also most people not in a squad do not want one as most people who do have already joined one with this feature.

If you are looking for an allied squad message me :) We are allied only however.

I too am on the fence about returning, but with the new unity 2 engine going on test, i havent seen anything changing about the wobbly infantry combat and unrealistic weapon handling..

great to see news of the yaw fix

no navy stuff..

Am i missing some info someplace?

I was playing the last few days and some of the free trial players are real asses.  They think this is wow or something maybe?  Thie one guy, Maddymax on the Allied side , thinks he is a member of command or something I guess.  It takes time to learn tactics in a game like this, don't think you can come in here and tell people where to go and where we should attack.  You won't get help from people if you are a pain in the ass.  This isn't wow, we use teamwork here and everything is done for a reason.  I have met some of the "MMORPG free trial players" and there are some nice people.  I just hope people like Maddymax are the exception and not the rule.

In the beta which you can download on the homepage has a large amount of training material. The game does have a learning curve so I'd recommend it to anyone who is just starting out. Another suggestion would be to join a squad or ask in game for help. Most people with any rank have been in the game for many years and love to help out.

See ya in game S!

I started playing this game on the first release day. I think it was around 2001. I had so many great experiences and the game continued to evolve in a positive way. I went back about a year ago and had a good time. I know this gets brought up a lot, but if they would just update the graphics (even a little bit), I'd really enjoy that.

The player base is *generally* very helpful and friendly also. WW2 online will always be one of my all time favorites. It's not a game like cod4, it is very tactical and realistic. That's what I like about it. I'm not a huge graphics snob, gameplay is what matters, but if they just modernized it a tiny bit I am sure more people would play. Honestly, the main thing that chased me away last time was just how dead it was during a lot of the hours. Considering the monthly fee, you want to be able to play when it fits your schedule, not someone else's. Still, a great game.

It's been rumored/in the works for quite a while now, but I don't know of the exact status of it. Going back to my previous post, I want to see it. Last I read they were working to get the Chinese launch going and then they were going to refocus some energy on that. I'll believe it when it happens.

I think I first heard about the Unity 2 graphics update in 2004.....the last I heard it was coming out in 2009.
