WoW and WaR pictures are irl Ingame footage. The other pic aint, well yes maybe but they have edited it to look good

That Darkfall image might be doctored as hell but it's still damn ugly! To put that forward as evidence of good graphics is absurd. Take those rose tinted spectacles off!

Compairing a new games graphics to a 4 1/2 year old ones isn't fair at all.

WAR however is far from the prettiest MMO released lately, I would say it is the ugliest even though it is supposed to look like minitures it just looks dated. WAR do have other good points however, but graphics and animations sure ain't two of those.

DF should be compared to Aion, AoC, Guildwars 2, Spellborn and maybe LOTRO. There it is fairer and with the exception to LOTROs avatars the graphics of those games look at least as good as DF.

DF ain't looking bad, I'm not saying that but you should really compare it to new games and more new games than the ugliest you could find.

In every MMO i play i turn graphics to lowest so i can better enjoy the massive Battles  ;)

Only play sandbox games btw so massive Battles are possible ;)
 

hmm guys you are wrong... reflection on the DF orc isnt bad..armours are shining in DF looking real especially plate armours like the one orc is using in the photo..

And the whole scene its behind the orc reminds me good memories of hellish graphicks of god old games like morrowind and oblivion.. much better in detail also than wow's and war' s orcs ..by far

The fact that the poster might acted a bit foolishly is one thing .

The quality diferrence between the photos is another thing.

Well, I am sorry again. It is not a new car with a brand new paint job and laque and what not... Or.. maybe you think "car" is the only plate in existence? It is supposed to be Armor... with Armor plates. Not plastic.. Not  a shiny pimped up engine hood... armor plates. But then, why do I even try... You compare subpar MMO graphics to Oblivion. the only way I could get decent graphics out of WAR was to turned my AA to 16x ... as for WoW yes it's older and kinda outdated but I think WAR coulda did better with there graphics system.

I beg to differ on this not being edited. If this was an actual screenshot why are certain parts of the shot in blurred, like motion. Such as the orcs hands n part of its armor being slightly blurred. As well as the posts of the chain fence also haveing a motion blur. Along with the fact the orc has a person standing on his shoulder. I know the second guy is supposed to look like he is standing on that rock behind...but look at the distance n all...that person should be quite a bit smaller.

Not puttin down the game...just think this is a edited pic. I do think tho either way, the OP is comparing DF graphics to prolly two of the ugliest games on the MMO market today. Perhaps should compare to games such as TCoS,Aion n other games that will prolly be releasing around the same time as DF. Then it would be at least a fair comparison.

  Yeah, DF graphics are bad -- can't argue with that. But the gameplay is supposedly good.

Actually the vast majority of gamers would argue that DF's graphics are better than WoW, WAR etc and only really fall short of AoC in the fantasy genre.

Animations arent the best.  Art style is personal choice.  But graphics, shadows, lighting...you actually cant aruge that they are bad.  Just what the engine produces technically is above what most games are right now.

think df and warhammer comparisons are apt.  Both are games made for large scale pvp and had to adapt their graphics for that.  Both are neither gorgeous or appalling.  To be honest however i do enjoy the Darkfall artistic approach a little better.  Especially with the orcs.  Some of the Darkfall cities i have to say though do look a little dated and blocky.  but those are also customizable cities.

Art style > graphics

we'll have to wait and see what Darkfall brings us.

However, I personally dislike the graphics ( I am basing this on one of the newest DF videos - the one you have to download). The lighting is decent, the shadows are decent, but I think the animations are elementary. The blood effects, for example, do not look very good to me.

  But then again, you have to remember that Adventurine took the project over from another company and that they are relatively new to the "gaming scene". They are not experienced (again, relative to other companies) in programming, etc.  But hey, maybe the dumbed down graphics are for a reason (large scale battles would lag with better graphics, for instance).

  I don't think the graphics will compare to whatever comes out in early '09. Again, this is my opinion that I am just voicing -- I am sure that the gameplay outweighs the graphics.

And we're still only in beta...so we can't really judge these things until atleast open beta. The massive battles are a big factor though. I do like the art style of the game though and that is much more important to me like I posted above

I have taken the question one step further.Why has Blizzard not taken the millions they are raping from players and put back into the game some hi res textures?Heck Runescape did it?Unreal Tournament released a separate hi res texture pack what 8 years ago?This is the modern era and some people DO have the machines to enjoy a nicer looking game.

I'll tell ya i downloaded the newest video of gameplay ,i think it was 49mb,the older one was huge like 600 mb.Even before it finished downloading i was thinking"this prolly won't even work"..lol sure enough,it said windows media player cannot open this file,it may not support the format.I was like come on man wtf.So i can't even comment on what the game in it's present state looks like compared to others.

1) Animations are pretty bad or missing, I agree on that.

2) They didnt take project over - the guys from razorwax moved to greece and started a new company there with the same people, but with different ownership percentages, and more money.

3) Graphics wont compete with what? If you compare it with other mmorpgs that have collision detection and can handle 200 people fights, then I think it will do just fine. If you compare it to some single player game, or an instanced mmorpg, then it probably won't compare.
