Best viewed on SONY high-depth TVs? Or is it a requirement?
You can make a PC that can play most games, asside from the benchmark of the year, for the price of a next gen console or two. And you can troll forums on it |

Well first off, Sony HD tv's are not top of the line like their tube types were. Ask any expert, they won't recommend a Sony HD, there are much better ones out there for a lower cost. Second, Smedley is so clueless, any quote from him is just a laughing matter. Hopefully once these new MMO's fail Sony will wake up and fire him. Until that happens, SOE is SOL. |

The console crowd will not tolerate any bugs in their games and most MMORPGs are as buggy as a swamp and SOEs are buggier than 2 swamps and a sewer. It's funny that SOE is always trying to innovate in directions that, historically, have been their weakest links. What's next? Are they going to open up a new school to teach people how to be customer service representatives?

Fuck Sony, and especially SOE. I wouldn't own a Sony product if it was given to me for free. I remember back in 1999, folks kept asking me if I was stockpiling food. I always answered, "No, I'm stockpiling ammo and making a list of people who are stockpiling food" |

I agree,
Smeldey is a moron, he ruins everything he touches (this might be Sony company policy though). EverQuest was a nice game for the first 3 expansions, the 37 expansions after that sucked! |

I would have to agree that for me (own 3 xbox 360's and 1 ps3) the ps3 is better. I just got done owning my brother in a close defensive game 7 to 3 madden 09 way better graphics on ps3 than 360, lol. 360 has nothing on the ps3. After my brother brought the ps3 down and now he's living at home, wow. I love the ps3 now and am addicted to it. They've got alot going for them compared to the 360. |

Consoles do not really belong in the mmorpg market. However, consoles rock when you're playing online against someone on a sports game. =) Consoles are fun when you get home from work and feel like playing a little madden. |

Consoles will be fine for MMOs in another generation or two, when everything is HD and they've moved beyond restrictive, simplistic controllers - both are already happening though. Consoles siphon more genres from the PC with every generation as they become more capable. When was the last time you played a platformer on your PC? |

Hmm, not sure about DCU, they do have Jim Lee as graphics boss and he is really good. I'm not betting money on either of the games but you never know... At least COH should be a bit nervous about it. Still, I'm surprised that there isn't more MMOs for consoles than FF IX, there is a market for it. But I prefer that console gamers get their own servers, otherwise I don't really mind. |

They still haven't managed to take shooters away from PCs and that's one of the biggest genres in consoles. |

Man, talk about the Sony haters. I owned a Xbox 360, it gave me the ring of death 4 different times. When my warranty ran out, I traded it for a PS3, best freaking choice I have ever made. As for the games, I like City of Heroes/Villians. But once you been there and done that, it is hard to keep on playing it. As for the gaming side of SOE, they are pretty good. I didn’t like SWG before NGE, so that is a non issue for me. I did love EQ1, the rest of their games was ok. As for consoles, they will go the way of the Do-Do. Eventually they all will merge into a Hybrid PS3/Xbox360/Wii/Pc. People are getting tired of the war of the consoles, so they need to focus on gaming like Sega did. But for right now the PC blows away the consoles on every genre of gaming, except sports and pirating. |

I dunno, a mmo on a console would be a little cumbersome.. could you imagine trying to bind all the wow functions to a console controller? think of all the menu scrolling it would take |

I really don't understand why people are so opposed to MMORPG's on consoles. Who says that console MMORPG's will turn out to be the same as traditional PC MMORPG's? If I look at the upcomming PS3's MMO's, The Agency, DC Universe Online, they seem to be completely different from traditional PC MMORPG's. |

In respect to console vs PC, I own a PS3 and am very happy with the quality of gameplay and graphics. I have played many PC MMORPGS as well as two PS2 MMORPGS (Everquest online and FFXI) and found that the differences are slim -- At time I have enjoyed the ps2 MMORPGs (EQOA) more than the PC MMORPGS, and vice versa (SWG). I have been hoping for a good PS3 MMORPG since I bought my PS3, but I don't think that The Agency nor Home can fulfill my expections. Unfortunately for us PS3 MMORPG'ers, it may still be some time before we will get a good MMORPG from SOE. On the issue of PC Gaming vs Console gaming, keep in mind that the PS3 has USB which can be used to connect a keyboard and a mouse (however I don't think that this will be required) so there should not be that much of a difference. Also, I personally feel more secure with the prospect of playing a MMORPG on my PS3 than on my PC, simply because I use my PS3 for gaming purposes only and my PC is more likely to become "infected" or crash. Anyways, thats just my 2 cents. |

I wouldn't mind a console MMO if it played well and had good controls, I would much rather sit downstairs on a comfy recliner in front of a 50" HDTV instead of on my computer chair in front of a 22" monitor. |
