I have been waiting for nearly four years for this so called, next Gen MMO. Nearly every MMO game I've touched has been a let down to the point of shelving the game after 1-2 weeks of play. MMOs require a monthly payment. Granted, it is only 15 bucks on average, but if an MMO doesn't live up to it's expectations, I generally never come back unless something dramatic occurs. That leads me to my question: Where the hell are the next generation MMOs? I seriously don't want to wait til I have kids and raise them to their teenage years before I see a next gen. /Rant. Excuse my post...I'm just rather fed up with waiting year after year after year........ |

Debateble whats next gen, it dont realy matter. You like a game or not if its 4 years old or just released, find one you have fun with. You have pelenty of choice. Make list of what you think is most fun to play. Search games and find out if they have those points you think gives you fun. And play it simple as that hehe. |

Just because you don't like AoC does not mean it is not a next gen MMO. Next Gen will never be next gen. When it happens it becomes current-gen, hence, constant dissapointment. |

I think the nextgen mmo has to have a solid and flexible code-skeleton to be able to build on it. |

Think we will have to wait still 4 more years. I was expecting 2010 to be the year where next gen sandbox hardcore games would appear again, but, doesn't look like it. |

Jumpgate Evolution Darkfall maybe Earthrise
Some games that may offer something different and Darkfall certainly looks different and challenging. \ The issue for me is twofold. 1. Companies are making money by puking out the same crap in a different skin and as long as that model works then they will continue to do so. However I have noticed a big drop in player patience on a personal level and watching in game chat and reading forums. 2. Technology needs to catch up with expectations. AI, Graphics, Sound, world detail. All takes massive amount of juice from the broadband and PC. Some companies are trying to break out of the box but technology holds them back. Vanguard came out way too early and tried too much and AoC has had a similar experience. I found WAR worked ok but its really simplified the graphics and sound to accommodate.
