I'm looking forward to the DirectX10 that's coming with module 8.  Everything I've seen of it looks unbelievably awesome!

Rerolling a character just to play through the new starter area with all the DX10 goodness is where it's at.  :D

Everyone knows there's a new system for creating characters?  You can now create a character from predesigned templates if you're not familar with the game mechanics.  There's the posbiilty to create a specialty build from scratch, as it's been since day 1, and if you had chosen one of the predesigned biulds you can opt out during the leveling process so as to take control of your own development. These changes should make it easier to understand for players who are unfamilar with the system or are coming from more generic linear games.

Good times are coming!

And as I said on the official forums, it's the perfect time for veterans to try out Permadeath with the new character slot

Nah I don't consider this a shameless self promotion! Think of it the forum here is Ridiculously small here and only the D&D fans read it. If I wanted to promote the game I would post this right in the WoW forums like a lost moron. ( But I did think of it ) I posted here for people who have played and are thinking of coming back this is a good time. That all. Most who already play only post on the Turbine' forums anyway.

Cheers see you in game!

Anyone knows when the update comes to Europe?

Even if I havent played DDO alot I really miss the dungeons and maybe will re-sub to check out the newbie zone (and the simplified character creation)

If WoW = The Beatles
and WAR = Led Zeppelin
Then LotrO = Pink Floyd

So the hirelings are not going to be in this mod? Did they say when they would go in?

And no download it seems on fileplanet or on the official site to download mod 8 without having to use their launcher. I can download it 100x faster on fileplanet than DDO launcher.

I think someone posted here that it is coming to EU 1-2 weeks after US gets updated. I know it was mentioned on Massively to expect a 2 week delay getting mod 8 for EU servers.

We normally get it 2 to 3 weeks after, it really depends on how many problems there are and whether it is worth waiting for the first patch.

I hate the launcher! It is slow! It is updating now, but I wish I could download it one big file hosted somewhere. They did it before and do it in LOTRO.

Hopefully no emergency hotfixes.

Anyone have problems with the game using DX10? When I enable it far orr stuff in the distance flicker real fast, even standing still.

Well the engine supports it and they are not afraid to go back and revisit core parts of the game, so maybe one day. I can imagine not just the cloak designs but the number of animations required (a backflip should look interesting in a cloak) it is going to get trumped by things like level increase, classes and races for the foreseeable future.

Speaking of WoW, a bunch of my friends and I (all veteran DDO players) decided to roll up new toons to run the new lowbie content. I can't tell you how many WoW players we came across. We split our group and lead the WoW players groups through the dungeons helping them learn the mechanics of the game. About 15 of them subscribed and can be seen daily on the game. Hmmm... Maybe it should be posted on the WoW forums.
