Blizzard's arrogance and Warhammer Online Warhammer Online recently declines in the number of subscribers all of a sudden, why? In fact, the reason is obviously indicated from guild forum, message boards, and in-game chat; that is, it's the Blizzard's WOW new Patch, borrowing a lot of Warhammer Online features. I cannot get it detailed, but I think it got a high percentage of correctness. It is so hard to imagine that a company with more than 10 times of the subscribers in the MMO market with care that much of other small companies, but the fact is, perhaps a high-ranking people or companies, has won too many, and they tend to think, not how to move forward again, but how to maintain the existing advantages, which is moving steadily and eradicating the opponents. We can imagine, after the Wii controller is presented, its competitor PS is so eager to immediately copy its idea. That's the same thing that Microsoft or Sun to deal with small companies and studios, and now it appears in the Blizzard's spirit. Blizzard in the past made the Warcraft, Starcraft, Diablo, even Warcraft3 also put forward a number of new ideas, but, right after WOW, Blizzard I can say is it only wants stability, and the creative spirit of its early years has passed away. Blizzard earned so much money with the innovative experiences in the past. In theory, it is not difficult to put forward any new innovation, but now with the number of subscribers, it could be a burden. Blizzard is afraid, it's afraid unlike a small company's "We can do it again if it fails" but "If we fails, it's a direct loss." The same arguments can be set to almost all large companies, and even nation including the United States. It's all true about United States, which holds the world's superpower and many resources, but still interfere all over the world, all the smaller countries, is it moral for a superpower do so? I can not see tolerance from a big country to treat smaller countries. It supports small countries, for their own interests, on the other hand, it will never allow others country to sit equally and as long as there is a sign, US would definitely do something to prevent the growth of others. It is totally hegemonic mentality of the great powers. Unfortunately, today, Blizzard has come this way. WOW is not a bad thing, but it contains too many commercial and political considerations. It is not copied from something else the whole things down. It only picks innovation to copy. No matter how bad a online game is, there will always be their features, let alone some well-made and famous titles? Smaller companies may struggle to make one or two plant new ideas, and then Blizzard is not trying to think anything new, but seeking the new ideas from other game, and then copys it, and blends it into its own game WOW. It might not save much work of RD, but offers no help to the overall progress of the online game industry, only to help progress for themselves. I think this was enough, in short, supporting small companies is not easy, it is easier and intuitive to support off-the-shelf winner.Although Blizzard comes to this step I don't like, I will not say I would never play Blizzard's games, but how about giving some support to smaller companies, it is always the goal, at least mine. |

There is nothing wrong with Blizzard maximizing they entertainment value of their game. I'm all for it.
Personally, I think Blizzard has gone downhill beginning with Warcraft 3. I've been a fan since the beginning, but they are losing the sinister, evil "edge" to their games that companies like IDsoftware and 3Drealms had. Just look at Diablo 3, it looks like a cartoon(although I'm sure gameplay will be good). Extremism in the defense of Liberty is no vice. |

No idea what the op is ranting about, his thoughts are random like somebody who is mentally unstable, and his grammar is worse than mine. Which is pretty bad. Pretty dumb to equate your hate of America to how how Blizzard runs its business. |

I am currently subbed with WoW as well and seen this new WAR ideas implemented in their game, all I can say is, its pretty much a knock off copy in its current state. There ToK looks nice, pretty and colorful, but we know who the innovators are. There PvP is kiddish now compared to WAR (imo), the BG's I cant even tolerate anymore since you got peeps with Tier X gear 1 shotting ppl. Alliance and Horde have the same Classes and this is blizzards way of balancing the game. I said it once and will say it again, if your into PvE scripted instances raid, this is the game you want to play. Open world PvP is a joke and means nothing. Now when Lich Kings comes around, we may be singing another tune, but as for now, its the same ole WoW since the release of TBC. The new BG sounds pretty cool with their siege weapons and flying machies, the only downfall, people will get uber just like they did in AV and the BG's probably wont even last more than 10 minutes. PvE = WoW wins hand down since they had 4 years of improving their game. WoW isnt a PvP game like DAoC or WAR and never will be, unless blizz releases WoW 2 PvP = WAR wins hands down since Mythic had DAOC to work off of. WAR pve still needs some love, but it isnt that bad. Fallen Earth / Lords of War |

I guess an America doesn't know the truth...but enough of that. the op has alot of good points about Blizzard but believe it or not, WAR will not fail even through Blizzard's sucesses. Surely we all know that Blizzard's new expansion could make or break the game but as a MMO fan, I say let it make it so that millions of people could still have fun (even though none of my friends do) |

to the OP WAR released in a unready state from a faulty run beta where they never had any of the testers play the game the way it would be played by the public they focus tested parts of tiers at the time and did not invite the player types to beta that they ended up targeting WAR had all the chance to release a great product and failed to do so you cannot blame Blizzard for the state of WAR

You gotta be jokin' if you think Blizz took something from WAR. Lots of MMO had achievements and Lake Wintergrasp is very different from castle sieges(+it's more interactive than a small castle with 2 floors and a standard boss in the midle. Give L2 castles already) They do plan to add BG Exp and other stuff but that's in the future(and to be honest, I doubt they will do that since there are many twink subscribers). I'd rather call Mythic arrogant. They gotta be on some uber kind of crack if they think they are fighting with Blizzard. They had lots of money from EA, yet they made this craptastic game.
Comparing MMOs with burger companies-the epitome of logic. |

If they can do it, and do it better, who cares? It's called competition and business. |

Honestly, if that were true, people wouldn't be leaving WAR to go back to WoW (same with any other game they've been accused of copying). They didn't get 10 million players by accident. Give credit where credit is due. |

they normally always do it better, that is why their games always have been market hits that people play for months , sometimes years (and not talking about wow only). Now it might not be your style of game, and many accuse blizzard of dumbing down games and things alike, yet when you try to get the masses , you have to search for the lowest common denominator. that has been a business strategy around since the roman empire (bread and games) and used in almost everything. |

Someone translate this to me. I haven't seen such a terrible message for a long time (besides the obvious trolls) in any forums. ----------------------------- Ted Treffon: I don't represent Hardbodies. Ted Treffon: No, I don't represent that either. |

Did you know that Warhammer was made with less than one third the budget of WoW with 1 less year of production? Yet, I find WoW craptastic. How do you explain this? ----------------------------- Ted Treffon: I don't represent Hardbodies. Ted Treffon: No, I don't represent that either. |

I don't know what you are hearing, but I'll tell you what I'm hearing. I'm hearing one person's opinion which happens to be different than 10 MILLION other players. Of course, I'm sure it's easier for some people to believe they are right and the whole world is wrong. How's that for clarity? LMAO!

Sure I give them credit, hell I even had fun in WoW in the days. WoW is a game now called ----> Been there and done that in some other game.. Ok they got 10 millions subscribers, it took them 4 years to build that base of subscribers, it didnt happen overnight or in 1 month. So I give credit where credit is do for being around for 4 years.
