*There are two purposes to this thread "The Official Races Thread". The first is to inform people of the Races in game as the information becomes available. As well as allowing people to make assumptions and share their dream characters they wish to play in Star Wars The Old Republic.* I will be updating regularly and have two sections, one dedicated to current well known Star Wars Races of the time frame. As well as Star Wars Races currently in game and confirmed. (Confirmation can come through either screenshots, video, or press release from a credible source. Currently Confirmed Races-
Speculated Races-

I have left this thread very open and not filled in alot of speculative races because I would like to hear what the community thinks before I start throwing all of my own speculations in. I did include Mandalorians because I think that is one Race people would die to play come time for the game to release. Also Feel free to add in your own cool race ideas that you have dreamed of for a Star Wars game. Me Personally I always wanted to be a Ewok Jedi who owned his own ship and flew across the galaxy. Maybe I will see my dream some day. Most likely not in SWTOR. As soon as I hear everyone heres opinions I will start adding more links and speculative races to the list. I will also keep full coverage on the races to make sure we get them all in one place for people to find. _____________________________ This is his story.... |

I have a feeling wookies will be a race. If not playable they will certainly be a compainion. Also droids will possibly be companions too. Twi'lik will also be a race.
Classes: Bounty Hunter (like boba) Smuggler (like Han) Commando (like stormies) Jedi sentinel Jedi Consulate Jedi Knight 3 types of Sith Playing: Tera, BF3, ME3 Waiting on: Guild Wars 2 |

Just restrict them from being Jedi and you would have yourself a winner. Then again now that I think of it Grevious did use lightsabers. _____________________________ This is his story.... |

Yes, well Grievous wasn't fully a droid. More like a Cyborg.

True I think maybe then working in cyborg parts for humans would be a wonderful idea. I believe they tried this with Galaxies but it just looked silly. I guess those damn droids will have to stay companions which is not a bad thing seeing as that it more or less their definitive role in Star Wars. _____________________________ This is his story.... |

Twilek Rodian Droid Zabrak The more races the better. I think Droid would be awesome as a playable race, especially from an RP perspective if there is any RP to be had. |

I think the only official races are human and sith. The rest has not be revealed yet. I'm pretty sure Twileks and Mandelorians will be in there also. |

If there are no Bothans, this game will suck. BTW, "Sith" is not a race. It's a philosophy, or an ethos. Sort of like National Socialism. I might add that Mandalorians are more like another flavor of humans, they have no distinctive difference from humans. Might be interesting to have Rakata roaming about. CH, Jedi, Commando, Smuggler, BH, Scout, Doctor, Chef, BE...yeah, lots of SWG time invested. Once a denizen of Ahazi |

Ewoks and Droids. But not the cool droids... no I want to be one of those Imperial Droids that look like a shoebox mounted on wheels like the one that runs from Chewie in "A New Hope". And Jawa's heck yeah, lemme be a Jawa or maybe a Sand Raider! |

Apparently, a Mandalorian would be anyone who would be willing to live by the principle of the mandalorian way. |

Not sure as a class (I could forsee a Mandalorian smuggler, for example, as opposed to Mandalorians who are pure commando types), but certainly a skillset associated with Mandalorians to reflect their lifetime of training in martial arts of all sorts. Of course, there's always a tradeoff here, so if you want mad Mando skills, you can forget about flinging a lightsaber around, for example. A Mandalorian skillset might not be particularly helpful in some aspects of being a smuggler/rogue type, but certainly help in outright combat. An avatar might have the Mandalorian skillset, but specialize in melee combat, for example. Some Mandalorian skils might be particularly useful for say a squad leader type class that specializes in buffing the abilities of others through leadership skills. A Mandalorian skillset might have some benefits for a ranged weapon specialist. The possibilities are limited only by the imagination. Which I hope the TOR devs didn't leave at home when they left for the office. CH, Jedi, Commando, Smuggler, BH, Scout, Doctor, Chef, BE...yeah, lots of SWG time invested. Once a denizen of Ahazi |

I think that I'm going to be a human, but in other cases, yeah humans are great, really loved them in the star wars field and in star wars galaxies I think that I wes a human |

My first choice of a playable race would be a Wookiee. I have always been a Wookiee in Star Wars Galaxies. I always liked having Zaalbar in my group in Knights of the Old Republic. Plus I've always been a big Chewbacca fan. When we get back from where we are going, we will return to where we were. I know people there! |
