Man, you know, I just remembered how much I liked Dawn of War.So, what the hell happened to all the neat tanks, and army type equipment, and all the neat stuff that they put into Dawn of War and their other single player RPG's??? Seem like Warhammer took all the good stuff that we loved out of WAR online. I truly believe that had WAR stuck to what they gave us in their RPG single player games, like Dawn of War, it would have been much more successful. At least that would have really set it apart from WoW. Instead we have the same old sword swinging, mage casting, melee and spell bull crap, rather than having an all out WAR with the equipment and fun stuff that should have accompanied it. I suppose that would have made it too much like Tabula Rasa, but still, what happened to the real Warhammer type of equipment? Bah. |

Second Dawn of War was made by a completely different company and it sticks to the Warhammer 40K IP. WAR is made by Mythic and sticks to the Warhammer Fantasy IP. If they'd of left anything important out there's no way in hell Gamesworkshop would of let them continue with this game. Games Workshop created and owns the IP. Third Dawn of War is not an RPG game its an RTS Game with a Storyline like most other RTS games. |

alot of people dont know that warhammer is several different types of settings ... fantasy ( warhammer fantasy ) such as WAR future (warhammer 40k) such as dawn of war and there are lots of subtypes .. bloodbowl ( fantasy style football ),space ship combat , sea combat in fantasy times ( sails and oar type stuff), squad based combat ( both fantasy and future style) , epic ( very large scale batles using tiny minatures to represent armies of 100,000's strong) roleplaying games ( 40k is actually based on a subset of rogue trader role playing game rules) there is also a game using individual models as heros using those foot tall things ... never got nito that tho so dont rememebr what its called. its been around for a long time ... i know i painted my 1st "beaky" space marine army in 1991.

The Warhammer WORLD isa world based in the Warhammer 40,000 UNIVERSE
It is a medieval, feudal world settled by men and fought over by invading races of Eldar, Orks and chaos
10,000 years beforethe current game year at the time of the Great crusades of Man, lead by the Emperor of Mankind to bring all the lost colonies of man back into the fold, the Warhammer World was missed as it is surrounded by warp storm of a magnitude untold of and no Navigator could hope to fly there
During that time the world has degenerated to a barbaric state and during all the fighting, the technologies of man (from the Golden Age of Man) andthe technologies of the other alien races have been lost and forgotten and the races have gone through a natural evolution/deevolution over time
Hope that helps as a quick jump into the difference and similarities and remember the Warhammer 40,000 MMO is in production by THQ nowand due out 2012/2013 (hopefully) and Dawn of War 2 is due out April/May nextyear |

its not canon. But there are many "warhammer fantasy" like worlds in the 40k universe , also the chaos gates in the north are left overs from the old ones ( the ones the necrons wiped out) so theres lots of evidence but nothing stating in black and white this is the case.
besides if this WERE and it ever were found by the humans of 40k it would be wiped out since they beleive in Sigmar and not the emperor.

Don't ever mistake THQ and Relic games for EA. Dawn of War came from them and Games Workshop. I find War fun to play in bits now and then and I gave it another month. Not sure after that. I think it can be fun at times. I personally feel that if it can sustain a decent playerbase of two to three hundred thousand it should be ok for the players. The problem after the initial falloff of 35-45 percent will be can they sustain what remains. By that I mean when you get to 40 basically you have the open RvR zones to play. Will that be enough to keep those on the edge playing? Playing the same RvR zones every night? Yes they can patch and add more, but with the big patch coming in December it may be not quick enough for those players. That would mean we would not see a large content patch until late January February? War may have made a mistake in trying to be too many things at once and yet not being that great in any of them. I had given up long before release on it being a new DAoC. I played closed beta for quite a bit and it was fun ...I posted bugs regulary and unfortunately it didn't change much. For me...as I said, I am playing...having fun when I do, but it is not a game I play regularly. I guess it comes down to what you are looking for. A quick fix of excitement or getting away from the world for a few hours and exploring a new world. War is sort of teeter tottering between trying to give a new world or giving you a quick hour of inflicting doom upon other players. The pieces are there for RvR yet meaningless, the PvE is there, yet not better than the most common F2P. One good thing about PvE is the fact that kill 20 dingledorfs means you only have to kill 20. No need to kill 50 to get your drops. |

BAh. I'm not a troll. I don't even post that much, and yes, I am unfamiliar with Warhammer. The truth is, I played Dawn of War, thought it was pretty kuel, and therefore gave Warhammer online a try. Pardon me for maybe thinking I would get some of the same in the online world. It wasn't like I was flaming the game. I was just wondering where all the kuel stuff from Dawn of War went. Now I know, not because of your rude reply but because of what the others said. Why call someone a troll just because they post about something they wondered about. Sometimes people are trolls; sometimes people are ignorant, needing some information; then again, sometimes people are just rude like you, and even if you think you know everything, insulting people while you make your almighty knowledge known is just pitiful. Too bad it happens so often here at MMORPG that everyone who posts better be ready to also be flamed and/or insulted. Thanks for the information to the others that replied with a desire to inform and not insult. |

Maybe sigmar is one of those primarchs that was deleted from the imperial records. If you are not being responded to directly, you are probably on my ignore list. |

They were probably just amazed that there was anyone alive who browsed these forums and didnt know WAR is a fantasy game. So either you were a troll - or you just wandered into a store - saw 'Warhammer online' and bought it without knowing anything about the game - which seemed unlikely but apparently was the case. |

Originally posted by Ruakh I never called you a troll...is your English comprehension that bad? I said you either are or you have no idea about Warhammer. I still am on the fence on if your really that unknowledable. It says on the box and in the game for Dawn of War Warhammer 40k. How can you mistake a Science Fiction game for a Fantasy game its obvious from screen shots of both games that they take place in entirely different Settings. I really hate to think that low of humanity but.....you give me no choice. The fact you then come here and complain because a Fantasy game doesn't have Science Fiction tanks and guns ... .. I mean Come On... |

Look up the Libre Chaotica books from Black Library
they cover everything from the Warhammer Universe about Chaos and the different godsand have information about Chaos Space Marines and 40k Technology, especially about Bolters and Chain Axes/Swords
Also, one of the Lizardmen Rare choices in the army book is an Orbital Defence Platform left by the "Old Ones" |

Over hyped with outdated non-revolutionary gameplay. pretty simple. But this game was a massive screw up, people really expected a lot more and that's what the problem was. We all were looking for something a lot more revolutionary. |

Well, I started this thread just actually expressing that I wondered where all the kuel stuff from Dawn of War went. I did that because I knew it was Warhammer on the box and thought they were related. I did not research anything; I just knew that when Warhammer online came out, I wanted to try it. I don't care that they don't have tanks and stuff as much as I wondered why not. Now that all that is answered, it doesn't much matter anyways. I have a level 32 Shadow Warrior and play the Order side on Eerie Downs server. 1. I haven't been able to do one PQ since level 22 cuz no one is around. 2. I can't or haven't been able to do any RVR because I actually haven't seen one Destruction player in the RVR since level 22. I realize being in a Guild might help to do keep runs or whatever, but not seeing one Destruction player in 10 levels is still crap, don't ya think? 3. The game is totally unsociable, meaning people rarely ever speak in chat. I mean it. You hear just a bit more since they added channels 1 and 2, but as a whole, you might go for hours and not hear one stinking word from anyone. 4. The game is so empty, that you rarely even run into any Order players. It is so bad that I felt like I did when I tried to return to EQ. There just wasn't anyone around. 5. T1 and T2 was a blast. If the game would have stayed like that for T3 and T4 the game truly stood a chance. But when I have to play just one SCenario for T3, and one other SCenario for T4 because they are the only one that pops, something is terribly wrong. 6. It used to be that if you checked servers, at least at the busy points, that at least a good portion were med/med, now, it doesn't matter when you check it is low/low on all but Dark Crag, which hoovers at med/med. I could actually go on, and that is sad, because like I said, T1 and T2 were so much fun that I thought the game was going to really be a great success. You could see up to 15 groups all around you in both tiers. You could do PQ's anytime you wanted, cuz there was always enough players. You could fight in RVR all the time, so much so that you were in danger of getting ganked anywhere you went, and could always fight back because you had so many of your players around too. Scenarios were always full, and you seemed to have a choice also. Now say what you want, but I know this is a true statement: It is totally disgusting that all of the things you might want to love about Warhammer fail because it is so fricken EMPTY. I mean how is that possible in the first 2 months of a NEW MMO? Well, I think they overestimated the population, made too many servers in anticipation, and are now hurting themselves because of that situation. They have too many servers. Everyone feels the oppression of never having enough people around, and it is causing the people who RESUBBED to be quite unhappy now too. Remedy: Merge those fricken servers so we all have a decent population to play with. Otherwise I know I'm not paying 15 bucks a month and not getting anything they promised, which I believe was supposed to be a pretty heavy dose of exciting RVR PVP. Bah Don't shout me down, but since I was acccused of being a troll, I figured I might as well use my own thread to voice my frustration, cuz Warhammer has sucked the big one ever since I hit level 22. Flame on. See if I care. |

Well the Warhammer 40,000 MMO is probably more what your looking forand that'll be out in 4 years or so andis being developed by THQ who made Dawn of War
But yeah, its the first month the server coverage is going to stretch out the players til more join in
give it a break for a month then come back to see how it is |
