SWG is still struggling to catch up with it's shock change from simulated world to mainstream MMORPG, these systems should have been implemented years ago.

I thought your group search tools were going to cure all ills? (instead, as predicted, about all it does is help people to know there isn't anyone else on their server).

And btw, SWG's biggest problem is that it WAS switched from a simulated world to a "wow clone" (which is what is meant by mainstream MMO) , ie it went from the game it's player base wanted to a game they didn't want.

BTW, care to provide any backing for your "more players than ever" comment?

Way to put words in people's mouths, WC. Please link to the post where the group search tools were going to "cure all ills."

Can't because like all embarassing posts I found it was unsearchable and probably deleted.

badgerbanger was arguing AGAINST server merges/free transfers because his group search tools idea was going to make things great on the dead servers.

Obviously it did nothing.

And oh, btw, SWG ALWAYS had group search tools, just not in the chrome shiney NGE UI, you always COULD search by profession, planet, etc.  So really he advocated adding something that was already there.  And the Devs wasted a whole publish on this idiocy.  I note he got kicked from the Senate.  Possibly because the Devs got embarassed by actually grasping onto a "senator" idea and implimenting it to public FAIL?

Play the NGE TC(s)G</a>! It's Free! Its Fun! http://sturly.com/qd2

I was under the impression he STEPPED DOWN from the Senate ... and considering he's thrown his hat in the ring again for the Gameplay Senator position, I find it hard to believe he's angling for a job that he was drummed out of.

I'm not Badger's biggest fan. I'm just striving for accuracy here.

So I started to walk into the water. I won't lie to you boys...I was terrified. But I pressed on, and as I made my way past the breakers, a strange calm came over me. I don't know if it was divine intervention or the kinship of all living things, but I tell you, Jerry, at that moment ... I was a marine biologist.

"Stepped down" is a nice way to get Blix out of the quandray of backing his lunatic proposal (and wasting months of Dev time on it) isn't it?

And as for going back, well, Blix and DevH are gone, there are new Devs in charge.  Just as dumb as Blix, but I digress.

Does everything have to be a conspiracy around here?

How many conspiracies have their been with SWG that actually happened?  Many.

The CURB...  Fantasy..  Sold to us as the improvement of the existing system.

We got?  CU.  Thrown together within weeks, radical change.

FRS disables after CU...  Sold to us as " a new FRS has been designed, it's ready to go, we just need LEC approval"

We got?  FRS was disabled on purpose to further the plan to nerf Jedi through the CU into a normal profession in preparation for the NGE.

"The CU is here to stay"  (Smed in May 2005, when they clearly were already planning the NGE)

We got?  The NGE...  The complete deletion of the remnants of the skill and profession systems.

CU profession revamps, ranger revamp, smuggler revamp?  Sold to us as fixing the problems created by the CU.

We got?  NGE.  Most of the stuff we wanted revamped was deleted instead.

Jedi will NEVER be a starter profession, promised during CU\

We got?  Starter profession Jedi.

How much of that, which became reality would have been dismissed as "conspiracy theroy" at face value back in the day?

Yet it all became reality.

So don't even bother accusing us of conspiracy mongering.  Nothing we could INVENT could possibly surpass what has actually HAPPENED in the scandelous history of this game.

What people do not understand is that they blur the distinction of Grand Conspiracy and Normal Conspiracy (usually for the sake of attacking others safe in the anonymity of the internet). Grand Conspiracy theories are ideas like: shapeshifting reptiles from the 4th dimension secret rule the world through the freemasons and the shriners. These ideas are rightly discarded, fun though they may be.

Normal conspiracies happen all the time. Just look at any federal penitentiary, and you will see if is full of men who conspired to do evil against their fellow man.

Companies conspire regularly, and some, as in the case of SOE with regards to Galaxies, way more than most.

Unfortunately, people have a tendency to lump the two kinds of conspiracy together, and appeal to ridicule is a fallacy that is fun to use, since it is a particularly nasty personal attack involving the mental health of the person attacked, one finds it often on the internet.

If anyone accuses any company of conspiring to cheat and screw people, that is not something anyone ought to ridicule as a "conspiracy theory." It is well within the normal realm of human activity. When dealing with SOE, in fact, it is highly probable, and, as you have pointed out, has happened many times.

Well, lets pose a more appropriate question shall we.

How many "conspiracies" have you put forward that have later been proven?

...The spread of secondary and latterly of tertiary education has created a large population of people, often with well developed literary and scholarly tastes, who have been educated far beyond their capacity to undertake analytical thought.

Announcement made, along with a full denial of an SWG shutdown from LA, nice work WildTwat.

Got anymore stunningly accurate predictions to share?

I happen to not believe anything SOE/LEC state with respect to SWG, their denial doesn't surprise me.

But I will put real money on the NGE not surviving the release of the new game.

Don't worry fanbois. The NGE is the greatest game on the market. I'm sure a little competition won't hurt it at all.

SWG needs a lot more of the systems that you see in games like EQ2, looking for guild interface, mentoring system and things of that nature are standard fare in modern MMORPGS.

I was under the impression he STEPPED DOWN from the Senate ... and considering he's thrown his hat in the ring again for the Gameplay Senator position, I find it hard to believe he's angling for a job that he was drummed out of.

I'm not Badger's biggest fan. I'm just striving for accuracy here.
