Everquest had platinum, gold, silver and copper, platinum being the most valuabe. In trades, people only based value of items on plat. Sorry if this isn't what you were asking. |

Yeah, that's more different denominations of one currency. If I recall, it was pretty easy to exchange them, so it didn't affect the gameplay very much. Might be interesting to see what would happen in a system like that if only players could exchange them. Would the relative values of the different coins stay consistent with what the game says they should be? It might be interesting to see. |

As usual, this only becomes useful where it's actually useful. If you're looking to make a game where players can work within a financial system, but currency reserves, speculate and do all that, then yes, multiple currencies are important. If you're just making an EQClone, then multiple currencies will likely end up entirely redundant. |
