After making that other post about how I have recently joined AoC and really like it, I got 3 mails asking me for buddy key. I'd like to help out as I naturally have one (my box is new), but two of the mails had bad english gramar and it made me think on the gold diggers. I would hate to waste a buddy key on a gold digger. What do you think, is it normal that gold diggers approach you like that or am I too worried?

They are your keys so you can decide who they go to. If someone seems supicious then you simply dont give it to them.

When i usually ask people for a buddy key its usually formal and very well written, as you dont write slang and obscenities to get something for free right?

To answer your question most likely they are, the first impression is everything.

Edit: Btw id like to rejoin AOC to see if its changed is there anywhere to download an EU client (i have an account)

Honestly I'd wait a little longer, there are some decent updates coming soon. Plus there seems to be a problem with lag spikes currently. There's also dev talk about merges, populations aren't that great across the board right now.

I came back from the dead once, true story. On the buddy key front, some of the bad english is people from the developers home lands, and seeing as my english is the only language I know, I cant hold theirs against them.  I wouldnt worry - not like they can just make a zillion gold in ten days anyway.  Maybe spam a bit, but with the reduced workload the GM's are sure to have seen as of late, they can knock any spammers out pretty quick I'd guess.

AoC has done fairly well in the gold spammer department actually. They have reduced their population to the point where gold selling is not really a profitable enterprise.

Has there ever been any discussion about if there was going to be a free trial version sometime down the road? I was (technically) in the beta, but I was always away from my comp on Sundays, which was when the testing days were happening, so I never really got to try it out for myself.

Yes my server is busy, because I chose a high population server. You probably know which of the servers that are busy considering the time you spend in the AoC forum. Anyway, what I wanted to say, FC did not get ridd of the gold spammers. First time I checked mail I was happy because I got so many messages. Guess what, all from gold spammers. It does not annoy me in any way, I just don't want to give them a buddy key. I rather want to give it someone that want to play the game because the like to play.

ROFL. Myself I never did the a email with the buddy key number. Another Funcom lie on the box as far as I am concerned. Of course I have never received a reply to the service dept email I sent when they broke the game to where it would not load with their first patch after release so no surprise.

Too bad for them as I am in a guild with about 50 active players, some of whom may have at least tried the game if I had ever gotten a buddy code to give out or if they had ever responded to my "game won't load email".
