I haven't even turned my gaming pc on in 3 months having been crapped on by Vangaurd and AoC.

I am still looking for a game that can capture my attention and get me to feel like I am a part of some action. From what I read from negative and positive reviews is that WAR throws you right into the thick of battle. It sounds great. But my one issue preventing me from firing up my pc again and actually playing an MMO is simple in this case:

Is there more open rvr or scenario play.

I'm down with scenario play, but nothing makes me want to spend my money more than open rvr. I don't care about numbers, I don't care about trash talk. I just want to load into a game and be able to exchange kicks in the teeth without having to que for a decent battle.

Now I understand that the game has population imbalance and scenarios provide a much needed break from getting rolled on sheer numbers alone. But is there accomodation made for this type of gameplay right now? Or am I better off staying away from MMOs.

I've tried almost everything out there to this point and AoC was kind of the last straw for me. Every game has something I like, but just not enough to make me want to come back for more.

Your mileage may vary, but on Volkmar in Tier 2, every night that I've logged on for the past week I've walked out into the Open RvR zone in Ostland/Troll Country and found a fight.

I've only done 2 scenarios since I've been in Tier 2 and I'm almost rank 17 and renown rank 13.  (tier 2 is from Rank 12 to 21).

I think it depends on the server though.  People say that on a lot of servers everyone just does scenarios, but I haven't found that to be the case on mine.  I've been doing Open world RvR pretty much everytime I log on since I was like rank 5.

Scenarios just offer me a break from it tbh.

Scenario play is currently much to rewarding and is definitely cutting into RvR.

Also Order is vastly out numbered and getting hosed by a large number of extremely inhibiting bugs and imbalances in T4.   If the game is not 75% destruction soon I will be surprised.

Lastly populations are completely screwed and the amount of RvR can vary wildly depennding on population and the character of the guilds on the server.

Don't play this game for RvR yet.  Seriously.  Its a disaster.  It might recover but a lot of damage has been done and is continuing to be done.  And 2/3 of the active playerbase is hellbent on making it worse.

I suggest you wait for a bit, open RvR isn't everywhere, either its only in 1 pairing of a tier, or its not in a tier at all (poor tier 1).  they are working on fixing it, but we don't know what they are doing exactly, so i suggest a wait and see for you, maybe check back in a week or two to see what kind of patches they have thrown in, and ask again if that has changed anything,

Everything creates huge amounts of negativity on the internet, that's what the internet is for: Negativity, porn and lolcats.

Just so know this specific server, Volkmar, has had Altdorf invaded and almost sacked by destruction.  And currently Order is completely unable to attack any T4 keep doors and there cannot do anything meaningful in T4 yet Destruction side is free to lock zones and attack their fortress.  And their Zone Control resets at crazy time in a matter of minutes making them unable to push even before when only 50% of the keep doors were broken

Volkmar is one of the very very few servers with an only slightly outnumbered Order faction.

Seriously.  Do not play this game for Open RvR yet.

It seems like several of those bugs in Tier 4 have been fixed as of today.

It notes the postern door fixes as well as other fixes.

Judging by the speed at which they're addressing these problems I think we'll be fine.

That fix mentions nothing about the Front gate being unattackable.  It fixed posterns being attackable.  Also the reports from Volkmar are more recent than that hotfix.

Either way zone control has been bugged for 6 weeks to vastly favor destruction.

There is RvR here and there but I just got to T3 on a medium population server.  Im fine right now cuz I don't really want to do RvR all the time.  I like to mix it up with PvE, scenarios and RvR, but I usually RvR maybe 3 or 4 times a week and try do it for 4 hours or so.  I had fun a few days ago for 5  hours doing RvR we eventually controlled everything for the Order in all  T2 relms.

But once I get to 40 im sure there will be mad RvR cuz that is endgame mostly.  Im sure there will be some dungeons to raid as well.  I think you gain more RP for RvR rather than doing scenarios. But im going to try and get a group together or join one for a nice RvR session.

Open RvR is what you make of it. I can only speak for the Tier one and two levels though.  In the Tier one areas three people (as long as one is a healer) can take over all of the of the control points in all three of the the RvR 'lakes' in less than two hours if there is no player opposition.  If there is opposition you can battle back and forth for as long as your persistence lasts or the other side zergs you out of existence.  But most of the time there is no opposition.  Once you take over a control point and convert it to your side that control point can't be taken by the opposition for fifteen minutes.  This tends to cause significant pauses in combat in these RvR lakes.

Scenarios are just the opposite.  They consist of constant and continuous battle for up to fifteen minutes at a time.  With the non-stop battles that occur in scenarios you get significantly greater amounts of experience and reknown points than you do in RvR lake action.

So what I'm gathering here is that the RvR at the higher levels is bugged and the numbers are so skewed to Destruction it wouldn't be fun anyway.

Scenarios are a quantity over quality (grindlike) approach to gaining reknown.

So I'd probably best off playing Order on a moderately populated server. Anyone know where I can go to see what the populations look like?
