Turbine has released these new screenshots giving us a look at the new Legendary Weapons being introduced in the upcoming expansion to their popular MMORPG based on the works of J.R.R. Tolkien.

To be honest, I prefer more realistic renderings but these seem to be a mit "meh" to me.

I hope there are more.

Unfortunately I can't even identify the type of weapon. Is that supposed to be an axe?

With the next expansion you'll see legendary legendary items.

Now that I really look at the first picture, it looks like he is raising an epic sword in one hand (couldn't see that before) and he has an axe in the other.

In which case the sword does look pretty good. You just have to know what to look for.

are these the items that level with you?  if so cant we choose any old item to be our "legendary" one that stays by our side for the length of the game?

I can't say I'm impressed. Especially the first pic (which I guess is a Champion dual wielding a sword and axe).  A glowing purple ball on the top of each blade? And the others seem to have a glow in the middle.

I'd rather see the whole thing glow, if they must, not just one bit of it.

I'm pretty sure they don't glow all the time. Just when you are perform some skill. If you look at the dwarf with the hammer there is nothing there.

the dwarf's hammer has a blood red dim glow at the end of it

Was it too much to show a glowy bow :(

The "glow in the middle"  isn't the weapon glowing, it's the effect from the skill being used, has nothing to do with the weapon.

The dwarf's hammer had a red glow at the head of the hammer. And the captain's lance has a blue glow around the whole weapon.

Actually, the items you have now aren't the legendary items.  I think you have to locate a base legendary weapon (I assume in Moria or an area of the new expansion) and then locate the items with which to upgrade them (I think some of these can be found on vendors, others are found in the world as loot drops).  Once the item is bonded to you, then it levels up with you.  I think you're able to alter it as well (like change up how legendary it is) throughout the course of the weapon's life.

Yes there will be player crafted ones as well.
