Im playing eve-online for about 4 years.

CCP removed 1 month time cards because people from the EU where buying them for dollars. Now u can only buy 2 months time cards.

Should have done it years ago.  The only reason it's controversial is because the playerbase is used to being able to pay for a month and then set a two month skill when the pay period is almost up.

Not sure how that relates to the time card thing, you've always been able to buy time cards for dollars - unless you're talking about EU folks skirting the VAT by paying in USD?  I don't see how CCP benefits from that one way or the other - though I could be mistaken.

AFAIK they harmonized the time codes a while ago so that they didn't have to carry two different values (30 and 90 days), and split the difference when they came up with the 60 day cards.

Wow this is pretty weird.  Glad I got my Battleship V in when I cancelled my account about 6 months ago.  lol  Seems like they'll lose more than they gain doing this.

jakin i have 4 account and 3 of them are not 100% for me only are more to give a hand to my corp
when u have to train skill like 100 days do u ganna pay 45€ for a alt account to get a skill ?
when u put 45 day skill and go on vacation or test other game do u ganna come back ? i have payed months just because the skill was finished and i opened the account to put a skill

today a 60d gtc is 500m and will go up
small organisation(corp/alliance) will die because dont many of that afford to pay capital alt account whit isk

As many of you know by now, on Wednesday, Oct 15th, CCP will put out a server update disabling "ghost training". Ghost Training was an unintended feature where unpaid accounts of EVE Online were able to continue training skills. While this allowed players to run multiple characters on a shoestring budget, in all effect, this was a bug. It should be noted that we're not changing offline skill training for active subscribers in any way. This change only affects those who do not have an active subscription. Does that mean that CCP is a greedy money chewing monster that just loves nerfing things? Of course not. We're a company like everyone else, we make a game, that we happen to love making and for most of us is the passion of our lives. But it's also a company. We make a product, sell it, get salaries and then continue maintaining the product and making it better. Now I'm not saying that if me personally would be at the other end of this Dev Blog I wouldn't be annoyed by CCP's actions. We are gamers. We game the system. We figure out how to maximize our returns. There's no surprise that people have done this for the simple fact that it wasn't banned per se and also for the fact that it was possible. But recently we have seen a surge in this behavior in a way that we were essentially supporting and maintaining a large number of customers that weren't paying us regular subscriptions. That's not fair towards CCP as a service provider and it's not fair towards other players that pay a subscription but don't make use of this bug. Now a single customer that doesn't log into the servers may not weigh heavily on our database infrastructure, just as a single snowflake isn't that heavy, hardly a measurable quantity. But it's hard not to notice an avalanche if it hits you. And that's what was starting to happen in our database. We can look at this from a variety of angles, but it all comes down to: 1. There was a way to progress a character in EVE without an active subscription 2. CCP noticed a surge in the trend and decided to fix the leak 3. Players now have to pay a subscription for characters to have them progress We truly hope that the community will understand our actions and continue to enjoy playing EVE as much as we enjoy making it. Yes, just like every other game on the market that makes you pay for every single expansion.

All I'm saying is it's pretty stupid to say "CCP=Greed". CCP is a business and as such they try to put out the best product at the most competitive price while still making money. So there asking me to pay to train a 2 to 3 week skill on an alt. I may not like it ( I don't actually ) but it's not that big a deal and it certainly doesn't rise to the level of CCP=Greed.

I haven't seen angry players like that since SWG's NGE.

Has nothing to do with respect, just logic. Training skills while your account is inactive just isn't logical. It's nice, and sometimes handy... but not logical.

Ok I am going to sound like an old fart here but...

Don't schools teach economics anymore ??  When I was in school an economics class was required.   AS I said in another post companies are in business to make money.  Companies are able to get loans to expand by showing growth in income.  No bank is going to loan a company money if it has flat growth.

I have noticed a lot of people seem to think companies are in business to serve them.  Please people throw away your rose colored glasses.  Companies are there to make money and grow and make more money.  PERIOD.

Everyone seems to think the world economy is in bad shape now. Well it is. However when the great depression hit the economy had negative growth. 

Its all about growth. Would you want to be making the same amount of money 10 years from now that you make today ??  Neither would any company.

Shhhh....logic won't do any good when people have been deprived of something they see as their god-given right. You know...receiving a service (aka, gaining skillpoints) without paying for it. Obviously, everyone has a god-given right to this.

Skills continue training even if you are logged off or if your account is inactive (in the second scenario you can't change skill training, though). As a result, it is a good idea to train short skills while you are playing and longer ones when you log off. If you want to switch skills, you can simply do so by starting another skill training. The points gained on the previous skill will not be lost, but you don't benefit from the training until the level is fully completed. The highest level for any skill is Level 5, but some skills also have an advanced version. Some of those advanced skills influence the same area as the basic version, others only a related area.

The skill trains until the level you're currently training is completed. You can't start training on the next level or new skill until you login of course.

I dont recall them specificlly saying its now a bug.... just saying that it will no longer be available, seriously people are reading way too much into this, I think its great, stop people having so many damn alts and get the game back to the way it should be!!!

i think people are more angry about it for 2 reasons:

1.  Game time codes are at an all time high, causing many to leave an account inactive until funds are available or price goes down.  Note that the plan is to reactivate the account.

2.  this is probably the biggest gripe about this change.  they gave ZERO warning for this.  So no one was able to make any necessary adjustments to skill plans.  if they gave even only a month time this wouldn't have the effect it does not.

for those that don't play EVE and don't understand why players are upset:

This training while away (note you could not queue skills) has been in the game for a very long time and has become a mechanic.  It was and apparently still is an advertised part of the game.  Therefore CCP saying that this has to be fixed is rather misleading.

To the OP. Get a life.
