Just out of curiosity, and I don't know if anyone here can answer this question, but how will Iceland's financial crisis affect CCP and EvE, if at all? Even though I am on hiatus from this game, I would HATE to see EvE go under because of the credit crunch.

Of course take everything with a grain of salt:

PrismX:
You don't need to worry about CCP as all our revenue is in Euros and Dollars. If you really want to sympathize think about our poor non-icelandic employers who are paid in ISK yet have financial obligations, like student loans, in another currency. That really hurts right now.

But no worries, CCP has weathered worse and has no intentions of falling short this time around.

I think I take comfort for that, except for the bit about the non-Icelandic employees being paid in ISKs. That really sucks, since everything is frozen atm. I hope that there is relief for them prontissimo. I have been reading in the financial news that a lot of British accounts were with Icelandic banks, in particular the Icesave online accounts. A lot of small  investors have been extremely badly hit. Then there is the horrible catastrophe with British local councils (i.e. local government authorities) putting their deposits even until recently in the Icelandic banks. Local government agencies have now lost a lot of tax payer money. What a fiasco!

Maybe I'll get rid of my All Access account and reopen my EvE accounts to support CCP in these hard times. Depends on whether I am more direcly affected by the credit crunch than I already have been.I'd rather support a smaller company than a large company in bad economic times, because it's usually harder for smaller companies to survive.

I'd also be a little worried if these euro/dollars were currently deposited in an Icelandic bank!

I've noticed that the price of game time codes, when paid in ISK, has gone up dramatically. Maybe that is already a sign of the global financial crisis, with less people wanting to spend money on GTCs only to exchange them for ISK ?!?

Anyway, I'v gone back to a normal subscription for now. Paying the next three months per direct debit (again)

I think the people in some of the EvE inside forum threads can breathe easily. My understanding is that the British government is freezing assets only in the Icelandic banks, not all Icelandic assets in all Icelandic companies. Hence the UK-based EvE server should have no problem continuing to run especially since CCP would be paying for it in ££.
