Wow...

This game has to be in the top 5 most boring, least intelligent and biggest let down I have ever played.  And I've played nearly everything.  This game makes WoW look difficult.  Asian Hack N Slash games are even more challenging.  But, the game being 3 year old friendly isn't why I dislike it.  EVERYTHING is bugged in one way or another.  The game is probably a year from being tuned to finish.  There are still items in the game for classes that have long since been removed from the game. 

Quests make you choose a reward even if there is only 1 reward.  Boss mobs sometimes run off only to come back fully healed.  Targetting system is unreliable.  blah blah blah...I could go on and on mentioning every aspect of the game.  Scenerios, bugged... Guild system, bugged.... Alliance system, bugged...  Your mastery tree gives bonus to abilities 3 levels before you can even get the ability to take advantage of the bonus.  WHAT?!?!? 

The community, you ask?  How is the community?  Let's just say, it seems that most of the gimps from WoW who have never played an MMO besides WoW are now playing WAR.

Anyway, I'm just a tad let down by this game.  Especially after waiting for 3 years and being a 7 year DAoC player.

I understand there will be a few of you that disagree and will choose to try and insult me in your clever little ways.  Feel free but the fact remains, WAR is weak.  It doesn't compare to WoW in PvE content and is laughable compared to DAoC in RvR.  LAUGHABLE!!

Funny seeing people tell the OP that this game isn't for him. Notice him saying that he's played DAoC for 7 years? This game was supposed to be for him. This game was supposed to be the next step for DAoC players. Instead it's a casual game for ex-WoW and FPS players.

I think a lot of people are feeling this way, the amount of threads that bring up much of what you say is scary.

In all fairness though, when people have issues with something they tend to voice there mind. Those who are happy with it generally keep quiet. Anyone who works with customers knows that they will always here when someone is unhappy.

Well if the things he brings up in his post are actual facts, as in real problems in the game, and if he is basing his assessment, that the game is "weak", from these facts/issues then it would seem that his assessment is "fact" as pertaining to his issues.

You sound a lot like me OP, former DAOC player looking for DAOC 2, similiar game but improved.

WAR is definitely not that game. Sure, it might make some folks happy, but those who really loved DAOC for what it was won't more often than not. (IMO). 

Mythic's attempt to make the game fun by making everything easy, friendly and with little grind basically built a shooter inside an MMO world. 

I know some people think this is the greatest thing ever, but not me.

Im playing the game and OP is right, these are the facts.  There are many other issues in the game that remain to be fixed. BUT, at launch there were many more issues that Mythic has now already fixed.  Combat lag, scenario queuing, taking over keeps, class imbalances- all but many other things have been addressed by Mythic.  Yea the game needs more work, but its only been out for a month or so. Mythic is polishing and patching the game at a very nice rate.  All and all, this game has amazing potential.  Im not alone in that conclusion.

We all tell the truth huh. Whats strange is MOST and all you have to do is READ on any other forums almost every DAOC player likes War. hmmm And War lol was NOT made for DAOC players.

What did people say about World of Warcraft the 1st month. Give me a break.  You could not judge WOW in one month well you cant judge War. Just makes you look silly. Just like AoC yet that looked bad and most thought it was over and done with. Yet its growing strong and more are joinning.

To the OP I agree 100% about the bugs and the NPC that runs off comes back healed OMG drove me nuts. But I have not had one in 4 days. Not one has taken off at SUPER SPEED.  You do have to agree that MYTH listens. 

Oh what MMO does the DEV talk to you? Why come here and say this stuff? VN boards Mark Jacobs just posted a thread today..  Its easy to say something when they cant read it or hear you huh.. 

WAR really is a boring and easier version of WOW.

Well its good he did this, ive showed a friend of mine this little review, and also other players reviews and he did not buy game wait untill this is fix.
 

So its a good reason to place this kind of little reviews on forum thats what they are for vent your opinion about the game you play, its you who not seems to understand nature of the forum.

He did not rant whine cry about game he just stated some facts about how bugged war is.

Community no surprise here, wow have so many players that its obvious new games will get many ex wow players who wanne try something new, this will im affraid happen for years to come.

But its also a logical choice for them war is in many ways same as wow only more focussed on pvp, so they leave wow for wow2:P

Ever since WoW games have been "rushed" to the market.  VG was rushed.   AOC was rushed.   War is no exception...clearly it was rushed.   Any bets Stargate Worlds and every other up and coming new release is rushed and unfinished buggy messes.

Sooner or later the developers and the publishers will wake up and realize that this is no long a new genre and that the people that they are targeting to play their games will not play them if they are not good games right out of the box.

Wish to play an exceptional game try - Mount and Blade .  Without a doubt the best game to come along in years.  :)

Weaknesses of WAR are Chat interface needs total rework, actually hampers the community feel.  Mail system is obnoxious.  Lag is always an issue with the lag correction being non-existant.  Graphics are relatively retro.  PVE is a simple design given its there to tie in different PVP zones.  Class Balance still needs work.  Order/Destruction balance has too much effect on servers.  Crafting is an afterthought.

Strengths are PVP is more inspired than any other game. Combat is simple and quick to understand. While it being a memory hog, it really doesn't take a super system to run. Grouping is actually easier to find.(this actually might be a weakness considering some of the people out there.)  All Senarios have time limits so you can't get buried into black hole of BGs.  Different starter zones so you don't duplicate missions with every alt.

While probaly not being quite as strong as WoW, it isn't a pile of refuse like AoC or Vanguard. 

This game is very dependant on the people you play with.  Make sure you have friends or a good guild like Scumdogs of Sea of Malice server.

The thing about reviews is that players don't know what they want, and that includes me.

If I read this post before buying the game, I wouldn't have bought it, after buying and playing the game, most of those things are minor flaws for me and none of them game breaking.

I find the pvp in war extremely weak and boring 9 time out of 10 you can tell who's going to win before it's even begun, the system also has the same weakness as WOWs pvp with melee completely dominating the game.
