Seems we'll soon get a duel spec system in WoW, a system where a tank spec warrior for example can swap to a DPS warrior mid raid.

Other having some addional UI stuff like the wardrobe mods to support this feature blizzard didn't say much else.

discuss...

And what is wrong with making WoW easier?

OH THATS RIGHT!  You're one of those people who think that WoW is an 'easy' MMORPG and the others are really challenging and difficult, or maybe you're of the opinion that they're not just that WoW is really super easy compared to the rest of them.

You're wrong.

What, you want an explanation, an argument that you will instantly dismiss anyway?  You can barely string together a sentence, I'm not wasting anymore time on this!

mmm......  nnnggghh...  But you ARE wrong!   ffs.  Or perhaps I'm reading too much into this and you were just being a jerk?   Perhaps thinking isn't the cool thing to do around here, maybe I'll take a leaf from your book.  Yeah I think  I'll pop over into the SWG forums and start telling some vets how great the NGE is, or start making Brad McQuaid themed haikus in the Vanguard forums, or hang around the EQ2 forums telling everyone how popular WoW is.  Maybe I'll make some friends!

Many people have predicted the imminent decline of WoW for almost 5 years. One day, they will be right. Even a broken clock is right twice a day.

actually it doesn't make the game easier it makes it less encumbered by its own system, which is always a good thing.

Hype is my nemesis. i will fight it til the day i die whether i take it down or it takes me down. So depressing, Yes?

I like to think of it as making it that much better than any MMO out there, yay!

Thats great news really. Now the pure classes like tanks and healers can enjoy the game like their dps friends.

Dual specializing just dosen't make any sense.  To specialize in something is to put focus on to one thing.  Dual specializing  in the game seems to be more like a uber jack of all trades.

just stupid imo.. in wow a warrior is a tank, if he dosnt tank he is useless. because outher classes is mutch better in dps than him..

i played warrior for  years, and MS build whas the most boring build a warrior could get, but it whas the only useable thing for pvp, because of the MS heal reduction debuff..

the most fun imo, whas tank build because of stuns, but how many skills in that tree is PVE only?

Why dosnt blizzard separate pve from pvp, or atleast give pure pve skills a pvp buff.. like taunt could get a dammage reduction buff like we get in warhammer online?

I just bet blizzard loves cookie cutter builds & twinks..

about time, we've only been asking for the ability to have dual specs for 4 yrs now, not like it's a new thing i know EQ2 has something similar and i'd be surprised if there's not any other games that have it also. i'm sure it'll be used periodically in raids, but i'd bet it's main use will be for pvp/farming.

you can find info on it at: www.worldofraids.com they've got a short video regarding it from blizzcon--it's all on their front page, hard to miss.

Blizz devs talked about it yesterday at blizzcon.  Wont be in for wrath launch but some time after.

Blizz said it wont be instant, you cant for example in PVP see a warrior running at you and you change spec to fight him only for a hunter to have ago and you change specs again, there will be a cooldown and other restrictions.

what blizzard want to do is lessen the idea that most players have of "we have to bring a mage for CC or we cant take that ret paladin because boss #3 needs 3 healers and we only got 2"  With duel spec that ret pally can DPS his little heart out but then switch to his secondary holy spec for 1 boss fight then switch back for the rest of the raid.. In other words its win for the raid group and win for the ret pally.

How many of us have been in a raid group that is forming only for the raid leader to "say sorry not enough healers online.. raid cancelled", well duel specs should stop this.  I am all for it.

Any one been invited to a raid group only for a cheecky raid leader to say "you can come but you must go back to town, spend gold and change spec for Boss #2".  again duel spec sorts that out.

Also means no more "can I join your guild?".. "no sorry we are full of DPS warriors".

The only downside I can see is loot.. more fighting over loot cus a rogue wants it as well as a druid who wants it for his secondary feral spec.

Ex wow players never die, they just come to MMORPG.com to bitch

Isn't there a similar system in EQ2 with mirror's in peoples houses?

This will be great for healers and tanks. So - for example, a healer could have their regular raid spec and a secondary spec that could be used for either farming or for PvP.

Although there are other implications of the new expansion - e.g. if someone is serious about PvP, will they also re-glyph for arena? Not sure how expensive that would be. I'd imagine at least some players would level their own inscription bots.

As to the person who said DPS warriors are useless - he's completely wrong. Most sunwell guilds bring DPS warriors to a raid - both for their personal DPS, their off-tanking, and the buffs and debuffs they provide.

Although I welcome this addition because it increases diversity in play style I also see a lot of confusion coming.

May contain nuts.

I can see why they have done this. People were getting fed up with having to pay out gold to swap specs whenever they switched from PvP to farming to raiding. As there are so many avenues for gameplay and different builds for success in each, they had to do something like this to aid flexibility between them all.

Any new or returning player to WOW, send me a PM for some help getting started.

This will enhance many aspects of gameplay.

1.  Respeccing to do your arena games
2.  Respeccing to fill a heal/tank roll in a 5man PUG group.
3. Respeccing during a raid to adjust to a boss encounter
4. Respeccing just to get INTO the raid

Players were already doing all those things, this will just make it less cumbersome.

but wow.. think about the looting implications.  Do you think the standard will be " Only roll need if you need the item for the spec you are in".    Because..wow.. those rogues are going to get mad when my moonkin is rolling need on all their items (feral gear).

Yep, EQ2 do have quite a few good ideas like when you can use a armour and show another one, takes away that feeling that many players looted a junkyard because their armour's doesn't fit together.

But this isn't the same since you can respec in the middle of a RAID. But it is good, will make it easier for players to find a group.

PUGs are PUGs, can't expect any better.

Doesn't have any implications on guild raiding scenarios.

lolwut?

Let me explain how it will help Pugs.  My main is a moonkin.  With this change I can have a 'secondary' spec as Feral.   So I see a group advertising  " LF1M, need tank".   I can change my spec and main tank the PUG which I couldnt' do as moonkin.   Same thing with Paladins.. they can now spec Ret, but be able to fill a "LF1M need healer" or "LF1M need tank" easily.

Doesn't have any implication on raiding?  Are you joking.. do you know how many times a raid guild will switch out a healer for DPS or vice-versa in the middle of a raid (especially when first learning it).  Generally you want as many DPS as possible when doing the trash, but then when you get to a boss, you will want 1 or 2 extra healers.    Ferals on trash, restro on boss..... Ret on trash, holy on boss.... The same thing can be said with tanks and certain encounters...  How about 4 horseman?

I actually think the one area that hasn't been touched on a lot is trash mobs.  With this change.. trash mobs  will go down much much easier because as it is now, a lot of healers are nearly afk for trash and only really see action on the boss mobs.  Can you imagine if 3 or 4 of your holy priests can spec shadow for trash and your restro druids can spec moonkin for trash?
