Wow SOE made a great GU. I will not list all the details since there is a thread here that posts the details. I will just point out a few thing I think makes GU #49 so great for me. I will start with the downside first. I logged in and was blown away by two major fixes. First they have finally fixed the disappearing shadow problem. They also added dual core support. The downside is coming. The performance increase was significant. In Qyenos Harbor even near the broker I got over a 10+ fps increase. Game is looking and running better then ever. Then bam! Client crash. Log back in run around, client crash. I was starting to feel worried. Logged in again crash. I contacted SOE by phone. I got a csr in one ring I repeat one ring! Never have I gotten to a csr that fast with any game. No wait at all. I explained my problem. The csr said "no problem I will send you an e-mail on some files you will need to delete". I got the e-mail in about 2 minutes and I followed directions. I logged in again and the launch scanned my files added the deleted ones and I was back in game. I did have to spend a bit of time resetting my UI and graphic settings. I played without logging out for about 5 hours no crash. Many claim SOE has terrible CS in this case they were fantastic! MMORPG.com stickyed my thread on graphic setting I will add to that thread the advice I got from SOE incase others have the client crash problem. So the game is looking better and running better then ever before. Time to visit the new guild halls. They are fantastic. Guild halls have been wanted for a longtime and SOE made really great looking ones. My guild is going to be patient and work together to get the huge one out on the island. It is really fantastic and expensive but worth it. My guild were cracking up with the next change to housing. They said we will never see Ecco again. It is common knowledge I am all about player housing. SOE added one simple thing. You can scale the size of your house items. I spent the next two hours redecorating and it was fun. I took my small pets like my black house cat and scaled them. Chibi (small in japanese) is not so small anymore he is now a panther. Some table top sculptures are now monumental. One is two stories tall. My giant beaver is a riot. He is as big as my mount. Also a new house item was in my rewards, A banner that was kind of cool if you click on it a browser opens in game and takes you to a picture gallery for FanFare. Now this has nothing to do with game play but it is fun and the banner fit well in my bar since it has beer mugs on it. The next change some will have problems with but they also made it easier to level from 20-70. As a player that has been in game for 4 years I love this change. Those that think you level to fast simply turn off combat experience if you need to level slower. One thing SOE has always done well in EQ2 is live world events. I for one am having a great time shooing monkies from the excavation site. Killing the big green infected monkey was funny. Also the rewards are cool. I got a neat looking set of new armor and am working on more rewards. There are so many more changes but for me the ones I listed made for one of the best and most fun GU so far. SOE has dropped the ball often with their mmos however they have handled EQ2 well. This GU and the customer serves I got is not the work of the devil as some may feel. Good job SOE and I am even more excited for the Shadow Odyssey. |

Also the new guild banner from the guild halls is nice.... just have someone post it next to the zone/mob you will be raiding tonight and then have the other guildies click the banner in the guild hall and they will get ported to the other banner. _________________________________________________________________________________________ |

I think the artwork for the freeport GH is excellent but sorry the qeynos side doesnt float my boat a bit to bright for my liking tbh other than that its not a bad update as for the new quests in the sinking sands i'm a bit meh about them too sadly but that may change once i get to do them without 20 other players racing for the same thing. |

You hate the game and bash it and my posts every chance you get. It does not matter what I post you always show up even off topic and bash EQ2 and SOE. You do not play EQ2 so why do you read a post about an EQ2 GU? Are you that bored? Other then the fact I find it fascinating you waste your time in the EQ2 forums. I could careless what you think about EQ2. Tell me again why I think I am having fun? Save all of us, who enjoy EQ2, from our own delusions...again. What does your response have to do with GU #49? Nothing, oh yea off topic again. |

They at least had some valid reasons when they bashed SOE. At first, It seemed your reply has some points in there so "I almost agreed" but it was just about trolling after all.
(However, the Exp change is a little bit disappointing to me....hmm) |

Lol it is huge. This new scaling fearture is pure fluff but it is really fun and makes decorating your house a good time. More games could add fluff. Sometime you want to be in game and just mess around. EQ2 offers a number of ways to enjoy game without having to always be questing and fighting. |

Of course he is a vet. For that matter I am a vet and pre-nge SWG was the best mmo experince I ever had and probably will ever have. I immediately left SWG the day NGE went live. It hurt and I was mad but I realized it was just a game. I even stopped playing EQ2 for a couple months. Then I realized EQ2 was not SWG and that if I kept being pissed about SWG, a totally different game, I would miss out on one of the best pve adventure mmos on the market. I will never play SWG again but I also do not waste my time in the SWG forums or bash the game. It is not worth my time. So with that said if you LIKE EQ2 you will probably love the GU #49. |

While I've given WoW another shot (and really enjoying it too), due the WotLK (finally a WC3 continuation of that story line!), I can honestly say I will alway go back to the world of EQ2. They have continued to impress me since about a year after launch when they realized changes needed to be made. So, when the new expansion drops you will find me resubbing to check it out. I have been VERY excited about the new guild halls also and the implementiations invovled in that. |

Wow, those are some beautiful guildhalls there and some top notch changes to the game. Sounds like you all are having a blast. I may have to check this game out again one day. I was a Day 1 CE player and loved the game for awhile, but eventually moved on to try other thing and never really returned. Enjoy the game guys/gals and have fun! The truth of the matter is that it really was a great update. I encourage anyone curious about the game these days to try the free demo or wait till the new expansion drops next month. As to the matter of population, while it is not comparable in numbers to WOW (and what other game is?) I have never had a hard time finding groups or people to interact with. I tend to play on the two RP servers, Antonia Bayle and Lucan D, so other servers may vary.

As a long time eq2 fan, i was blown away at this GU as well, our guild hall is frikking amazing, haveing all our necessities in one spot through lots of hard playing for status is very nice, that should also cut down on server load in the cities a smart move i think, looking forward to the expansion now, :) playing eq2 and two worlds |

I find it really funny he think that his posts matter since there are only 3 or 4 people who respond to these posts as he claims. If there are only 3 or 4 of us who care or play then who is he preaching to. In fact there are 14 different people responding so far but all of us are viral marketing for SOE or fanbois. We call him a troll because that is exactly what he is. He has yet to respond to the original post. This is typical about all his posts. He has been saying the game is slowly dieing for years now. This is directed to ste2000 I have tried to engage you in discussion about games. I have even said I respect your knowledge and opinion in previous posts. However I am done with you. I will continue to talk about the many mmos that interest me. However I will never comment about your post again. So come to every post I make. Say the craziest things you want. You have not stopped me talking about EQ2. You have gotten me to finally ignore everything you post here anymore and not just what you have to say about SOE. I truely mean this you might want to stop playing mmos because you are not living in reality. Good luck in your attempts to bring SOE down. I am done with you. Sorry to those who responded to my original post I know this is off topic but I needed to clear this up. EQ2 is a wonderful game the GU #49 adds a lot of fun to the game and improves the game performance ( the dual core support has been needed for awhile). This update gives me confidence the next expansion Shadow Odyssey will be great. I will plant a little seed for a game I have been following for awhile. Chronicles of Spellbourne will go live this Nov. I will be in EQ2 until SOE turns the lights out but CoS sure has my interest. I try to keep to only 2 games at a time. Right now it is EQ2 and WAR but if it plays out. Most likely it will be EQ2 and CoS. |

The guildhalls is a good idea, EQ2 have pioneered quite a few of these... A friend of mine is that last of our old guild playing and he can actually afford the largest one by himself. Still, there is some things that needs to be done if EQ2 are to get more new subs, like the graphical revamp, multi core supposrt and a better use of fog and shadows..... I quited 6 months ago, a part of that was because I didn't like Kuunark, maybe I come back later, I did have a fun ride except the last few months. |

It seems from SOE's statements the a total graphic revamp will not happen. Remember the game is 4 years old. However they have been making the game performance better. I think that is what you can expect in the future. Small changes to performance and hopefully a few more expansions. One thing SOE has done well in my opinion is the live world events. I would love to see them focus on that and bring us more of them and more frequently. |
