Today, I recieved an e-mail from Amazon (like the usual you bought this product, now we would like to reccomend... ones) But, this one was a little different... its for Aion collectors edition, even though the official site has no information on the release date. Here is the text of the Amazon email: Dear Amazon.com Customer, We've noticed that customers who have purchased or rated Guild Wars Nightfall Collectors Edition or other games in the PC Games > Role-Playing category have also purchased Aion: The Tower of Eternity Collector's Edition . For this reason, you might like to know that Aion: The Tower of Eternity Collector's Edition will be released on October 30, 2008. You can pre-order yours by following the link below. Release Date: October 30, 2008 Platform: Windows XP
Product Description
I think this information is in error, so I'm contacting NC support to see if they have any information, and possibly have them get in contact with Amazon to correct the release information. I will post an update once they respond.

It sure sounds like it is in error, Korea OB might be coming out around that time frame. I would not trust there info, |
|
No way... |

Shame on you Amazon! If this is a mistake may a thousand starving crows descend on your ivory towers!!! |

This is pretty normal for companies to "guess" at a release date and post it on their website. The devs have all stated several times that the game won't be out until 2009 at the earliest. Currently Playing: EQ2 |

Posting a date on their site is one thing but sending out emails whithout an official date from distributors (or whoever sends Amazon their info), that's pretty cheeky.... (,,,)=^__^=(,,,) ![]() |

thats not true at all beta wont be close to done by then.

Don't know if you can run it? |

If you want a good date go to game stop and ask them, They were very close to WotLK release date back when they announced it, and Warhammer online. It should be atleast in the right month. |

I'm a US Amazon customer, and I also thought the email was a phishing sceme; so i checked the Amazon site without clicking anything in the email, and sure enough it was listed there too, so its not a phish, just Amazon jumping the gun... again. Its not the first time they did this an NCsoft product; if I remeber correctly, they also posted a premature released date for Guild Wars: Nightfall (they posted that the game would be released on the preview weekend--not such a big deal because the preview was only two weeks before the actual launch date). But this is a much larger error, the game hasn't even been put to beta in North Amrica yet. |

There wont be a beta in english. The game will go live according to what korean beta testers will make it.
But Oct 30rd? I doubt it. It wouldnt be bad at all tho |

I know this is bad but i'm excited about this game mainly because it looks so pretty.. and i have faith in NCSoft... even though I know little about i'm looking forward to it... this could be the game i've been waiting for. The sooner the better! Playing: Aion |

The Korean OB will start sometime this year, No Hard date has been set for this yet. US / EU Preview event followed by launch of the game will be 1st qt 2009, Again no hard date for this also. |

its not the first time that amazon gives such confusin information. they did the same with AoC and WAR. |
|
|
yeah amazon was way way off for AoC, that ticked me off, and now there doing it with Aion, Amazon needs to get there act together.
|
|
|
Lol amazon says things first just to get your attention that they will be selling an item. Its all apart of their marketing scheme. |
|
|
exactly, screw amazon.

Amazon claims the release date is whatever will make them most money as soon as possible. Really, why would the release date be published by a online shop before the developers decide when to release it... ------------------------------

I don't belief Amazon and other companies like them get away with doing this sort of thing, this has to be illegal or breaking some sort of online trading code of conduct, if not it should damn well be. Don't know if you can run it? |
|

Hmm I'm not too sure it is illegal as they would probably have been sued the crap out of by now for doing this if it was. However, if Aion were to be cancelled (god forbid) they would have to give full refunds which would serve them right for taking advantage of people in this way. ------------------------------

Amazon afaik only charges when a preordered item ships. If something has changed in the past three months I'm wrong, but there is no 'refund' because they haven't charged anyone anything. and i'm growing very tired of people skim reading messages and not actually listening to what they say. A refund is where paid money is given back... so if nobody has paid anything there can be no refund. ------------------------------

Holy, easy, Neyon was responding to a hypothetical situation, IF something were to happen the way described. He's not saying that's how it is currently done.... I love the internets. <3 Love. :) But it probably isn't illegal to claim a tentative date. And tentative is all that it is. I'm sure that's perfectly legal... But like I said earlier it's one thing to post "we think the relase is this" and post it on their site, but another to send in emails telling people when it's coming, when it's a lie.. Also I've never seen this behavior on Amazon.CA I never can tell what's coming out on their site, until it's ready to be shipped basically. Oh and another thing, was just checking on amazon.com and the Aion release date has been changed to May 26 2009.. (,,,)=^__^=(,,,) ![]() |
