Hello fellow Gamers, I really hope everyone is following the economic crisis--I'm not sure how you could not. These are scary times and we haven't even felt the worst yet. I predict the Dow will go down to 7000 before we start to regaining our footing (It's currently 9,700). We ARE headed for a full blown recession which will affect everyone in the WORLD'S lives and last for around 5-7 years. I just hope we don't go into a Depression. Here is to hoping our country doesn't collapse and a continuation of better MMOs for all. |

I can't really decide how mmorpg's will be effected by this. In my opinion there are two ways of looking at:
1. Mmorpgs are a luxury and therefore will lose subscribers and development will be effected. 2. Mmorpgs are very good value for money when you look at the amount of entertainment received for the fee so will be unaffected.
I am more inclined to agree with the former view |

Game companies may also have a hard time finding investment money for new games during these hard times. |

Profits in the Game industry have grown 300% in the last year. The economy really isn't affecting it yet. |

I hope it all comes crashing down. I'm a full time worker and can't even afford my own house. Things need resetting, and i hope all the profiteers suffer, who have about 10 houses. |

in hard times, the entertainment business kinda booms and declines at the same time. I dont think it will be affected as much as other companies that are selling cars or other consumer goods |

People is really scared now, problem is people stoppig buying things, and it escalates. Yes MMOS could be the ones feeling it, but I guess it will copensate because is much much cheaper than going out, so I guess many people will subscribe to an MMO to pass the time in a cheap way. (not counting the computer, everdboy has one. Which could benefit WOW, that doesn't need upgrades). |

Before you get pissed off at my post please read it. If all the big corporations go down we all go down. Everytime one shuts its doors we lose major tax dollars and lots of jobs no longer exist. This country will never survive without them. Now dont get me wrong here im not sure what your personal financial situation is nor do i really need to know but if major corps are to blame so are you. Yeah sure corps have been handing out loans like candy to make a profit but the people applying for them and signing the contract are just as much to blame for this fiasco. Why the hell are people trying to get this money when they know dam well they cant afford that house or new car. All im trying to say is its a two way street. Peace

The gameing industry will most likely boom as people will stay home more and pass the time with games. MMO's are a bargain after the initial cost of the game the monthly sub is far cheaper than buying a new game. |
