Hello all. I'm considering trying Anarchy Online because, frankly, I love sci-fi and I love it even better when it takes place in a well rounded setting.

What I'm afraid of is not being able to grasp the way the game works.

I am a very patient kind of person, I'm ready to read about every tutorial the game throws at me.

Please ease my mind. Are they well explained? If not, is there some place I can find a written guide that would explain it all?

Thanks in advance!

p.s. My cumpter is new and pretty recent too..will it be a problem? I heard the newer the computer, the harder it is to run the game...

no, AO doesn't have a steep learning curve.

but, it has alot unusual side roads that can take you off your beaten path.

there are many beginning proffession, up to 12-13 I believe, and its a matter of watch proffession fits you, form Martial Artist, all the way to Trader.

the game is built around 1 specific zone, and, with expansion that you buy to add to your core game it has many areas.

But, the many area, which is the biggest you can try as a froob ( free noob), is RK, has many zone, though, your not allowed to use the GMS(Trqade Mareket Terminals), or, to enter any player city buildings.

But, as a subscriber, you get access to those. Also, if you buy the expansion packs, well, then you get to play in other areas, Like Lost Eden, Shadowlands, which have even more playing potential, and, even broadens your character pausibilities.

The only thing I recommend is to sign up as a froob for a few weeks/months, and, get a handle on the game. After that, you may find that its a game you'll enjoy. :)

good Luck, and hope to see you on AO

Well, seems like the game won't launch for me anyway.

It's always saying "resource onot found".

Looks my my adventures in Anarchy online were cut short.

what client are you starting out with?, the patcher at a few points will get stuck, and, sometimes what you need to do is redo a relaunch of the patcher.

the learning curve really comes into play with distributing your stat points and above all implants/equipment/twinking.

if you just stick to the pve then really no problems

once you venture into LE and battle stations though, youll start to try to twink your character (very easy to find help with affording/finding/making the implants, very hard to actually put them all in)

really i remember taking like 5hours just to make the imps and get some of them in, really satisfying when you get it all down though.

The learning curve is not hard at all, what does make it seem hard is getting a bunch of conflicting advices. Also if your used to playing games that all seem to have the same kinda game mechanics, AO could be a bit confusing.

I would not say it is Hard, it is more like long. if you want to master the game the first 5 hours then forget it. There is a lot of info to absorb, but just do not push yourself too hard if your struggling

Just some additional info added to what's already been said, AO is Solo friendly, so if you like to learn the game on your own you can, may take longer. Playing on a Free account you can still PvP in BatttleStations, just do not get any of the rewards (goodies). some of the things/places you can not go/use on a free account, It is that some items and places you need a Expansion, which is needed (required) to wear or enter .

There are 3 type of accounts, Free (Anarchy, Notum Wars), Cheap [$5 month](adds Shadowlands expansion), and Full [$14 a month](Adds Alien Invasion and Lost Eden Expansion )
make sure you download the full client and not the small one, even if your just going to be on a free (FROOB)account .

As for having a newer computer, that is not a problem, just the newer ATi Cards are having some problems

Good luck,

You should download the large client, even when starting out on a free account.  Lot of issues with installing and patching seem to reate to the small client.

Well... I played AO with my new Nvidia Card and I had lag indoors (shops and missions so far) but i fixed the problem. Just activate "wait for vertical sync" in the ingame options. Have fun!
