People are hating on War because they find it "pointless"; uhhh what online game isn't pointless? Point being (lol) that games are for fun...that's the point. You aren't gaining anything of value by un-corking 4 billion more bottles of whogivesashit than everyone else excepting that you now have more sh!t. Are you collecting wolf pelts? Life is short. Hit the power button, spin the chair around, wipe the drool off your chin and go outside for the first time in 4 years. (Also change that rediculous shirt you keep wearing.)

I am gonna put aside your obviously baiting tone and try to answer you anyhow. You don't get it. Thats fine, why should you? You are a victim of the zeitgeist of fashionable VC led games design. The games you have been fed, the 'next gen' mmorpgs, are broken and, indeed, pointless. Fun is subjective. Don't knock other peoples idea of it, because your idea of it is just as stupid.

Games, from a certain perspective, are pointless. But there is a difference between a pointless hobby, and a pointless game. Nobody claims that games save lives, or anything like that. But I like, when I play a game, for it to have a point. For myself to have an impact on the game world. What I do actually has an effect on something. In that aspect, WAR is pointless. |

So what game are you playing now that has a point? I'm dying to know.

Since this is mostly an MMO site.. MMO's probably are pointless if you are always by yourself.. or want to solo everything and never interact with people. The only thing MMO's offer over any other game is social interaction. Generally if there is no community within a game it doesn't do very well for very long. WAR has been an odd one for me... people seem to hardly ever communicate. I mean I've worked with a lot of other people toward something (PQ, scenario or Fort take/defense). Its just that there is very little interaction... In DAoC I was usually on vent listenting to some guy eating doritos.. It was irritating at the time.. but I am starting to miss it atm. Oh and as to whether a game is pointless or not... You can make the same general statement about real life... you more or less do the same repetitive actions every day for what? uber loot? a house? a paycheck? Then you die and someone takes your stuff.. They are what you make them be... and if its not enjoyable or has no point.. its probably a sign of something. |

| "We already have two operating MMOs. We launched a game called Ultima Online in 1997. It's still got hundreds of thousands of subscribers. Then there's Dark Age of Camelot, we also have a situation where we have well over 100,000 subscribers." -Frank Gibeau of Electronic Arts. Does it seem odd that UO has more subscribers than the best RvR game on the market? |

Who did wrong? The advertiser hired to sell the game or the consumer who put faith in advertising? |

Ummm..... You do realize that your actions in WAR have a direct impact, specifically on the game world, right? Your participation in RvR Scenarios, RvR Battlefields and public quests all directly effect the game world. And in RvR Battlefields, your actions directly impact whether or not you have access to certain content, and more specifically certain vendors. Now if what you are saying is that you, and you alone cannot change the game for the other 2k people on your server....sorry, I guess WAR would be pointless. In this game you have to work as a cohesive team to make the broad changes. If you want to change the game for everyone else by your actions and your actions alone, you should start developing your 'I AM GOD' mmo. |
