Game play is pretty cool, has all the elements of a great MMO.

No Remapping, no autotargeting

"left click to move here" annoyance

This would be a world class game if they decided to let people control it they way they wanted.

you can use wasd to move too, and space to jump...

I use 'W' to move for the most part, keep right-click down and use the trackball to 'steer', which, surprizingly, works better for me than Guild Wars' direction keys. I also use the left-click to move the character out of aggro' quickly or use it to 'trim' away from another player if I feel I would be attacking a critter at the same time (kill stealing).

I wouldn't say Perfect World is 'World Class', but it has it's strong points, and weaknesses, but the way I see it, since I play it a few hours everyday, it's apparently worth playing. :)

There is an icon on the lower left corner of your screen...click and it has exit to desktop.

Do you actually TRY to figure out how to play before bashing. It has almost TOTAL character control. use WASD keys to move, X to do front flips and front hand springs. you can right click on the screen and move. SPace to jump and double jump. It's better control than WOW.

When you first start the game you have a ! pop up on the screen. read these to learn game play and charater control. It tells you that you have the option to use wasd. You can also use them when you fly or swim. z = down, space bar = up.  maybe you shouldn't just click stuff and dismiss it without reading it.

I think you must have misread his post, he meant that there was no customization-or little- to the controls.  Some people like using the arrow keys(god knows why)  but you cant change the controls in the interface... also, it could just be me, but character movements felt rather.... sluggish and I played a character up to 45 and one to 36

 My point is, if your bashing this game for having the same controlls as most games, go bash EVERY GAME WITH WASD CONTROLLS AND SPACE TO JUMP. yeah, you'd be here all day looking at every game listed and bashing. It's the same basic interface if not better than most games. 

No, he is not, he is annoyed that you can't change the key bindings.  For example, in WoW, the autorun button is set to numpad backslash by default(i believe)  but I prefer to use "R" as the autorun button, and WoW allows you to customize the button layout.  Unfortunatly, Perfect World does not.  He is not complaining abou the key layout-in essence anyway.

Yes there's no control options, but it has the same control almost every game in EXISTENCE has been using for years. Its your fault if your not used to it. I myself hadn't used WASD control figurations for awhile when I first started this game and it took me only about 20 minutes until I was comfortable using them.

No remapping and auto targeting? You need to learn the difference between a luxury and something you actually need. You don't need auto targeting or remapping, you're just whining because you're a spoiled gamer. If you actually bothered to use a mouse in the past couple years (yes its the little thing with 2-3 buttons that you can push down with a finger that comes with your computer and it has a ball or laser on the bottom and yes it DOES infact exist) you'd be able to point and click just about as fast as any auto targetting system.

Lol "Left click to move annoyance". Are you serious?!?!? You'd rather sprain your fingers holding down the arrow keys all day. You can basically click one thing in the distance and your character will move all the way across the freaking map and you call that annoying???

I'm sure in sometime they'll add an update that will allow you to change controls. I mean some of the features aren't even working so you're basically bashing it when its got its foot only partially out the door.

I have to agree that targeting is a problem in this game, especially when creatures or opponents are close together.  A common tactic is to have someone stand on top of the healer in pvp so that it is quite hard to target them.  Having to use the mouse to target is a problem, especially in a pvp game like this.

 if you actually went through the tutorial and learned how to play the game, there wouldn't be an argument about people standing ontop of people so you can't target them. About 90 percent of the games have worse. and standing on top of the healer? you can press shift and click to target someone under someone. seriously. Learn to play a game first.

It's good to know I'm not the only one who finds this annoying. It's made even worse by the backasswards controls they use for some commands. I'd probably drop one of my P2P MMOs for this if I could reconfigure the controls to something that made sense. Instead, I'm fumbling around trying to memorize a brand-new set of controls I'll never use again outside of this one game.

Control remapping is a standard feature in today's MMOs. Not including it makes Perfect World feel like a giant step backward.

Not that hard to remember controls. I didn't bother to learn the hotkeys myself, but after a day or so of playing I knew them by heart.

And its not as assbackwards as you think. Infact most of the controls make sense because of the translation from an asian language to english. Japanese, Chinese, Korean languages usually dont have words for some english words. I mean they ARE different languages .

B for Inventory or "BAG"

G for Faction or "GUILD"

F for Friends

T for Squad or "TEAM"

C for Character

Q for Quest

*R for Skill

E for Actions or "EMOTIONS"

M for Map

P for Pet

*L for Help

X to Flip- The symbol X is usually associated with flipping

*O for Boutique/Item Shop

And from that list you can see that over half the controls are the same as any other MMORPG. I couldn't find anything as to pertain as to why R is skill unless the R is for Reiatsu and why L is for help, but still whatever the reason it might pertain to the translation.

Except I play eleventy hojillion other games where Q and E turn left and right (sometimes they're mapped to strafe, but I can remap them so A and D strafe, and Q and E turn).

I play two other MMOs (and have played several others) where Tab cycles through targets. In Perfect World, it cycles my action bar.

At least I was able to change the scroll wheel so scrolling up zooms in, and scrolling down zooms out, so it's not the reverse of every other piece of software known to man.

Perfect World uses the standard WASD control setup because it's well-known and intuitive for most gamers, which makes me wonder why they didn't use standard, intuitive controls for more functions. Of course, simply allowing controls to be remapped would solve everything but free games often leave out those nice little extra touches.

It's still a fun game, but things like this leave it feeling unfinished.

That's cause its not finished. I'm pretty if some of you look at some of the features they say "Currently Not Functional". We're ahead in terms of in-game content when compared to the other versions, but they're holding off on the features and some in-game items because they want us to put as much money as we can into the cash shop.

Don't believe me? Go to their forums and look up Chienkun Stone which is used for Refine Transfer. The GMs and mods don't even answer you when you ask why they haven't put it in the game yet cause every other version has it. Chienkun Stones would keep people from buying those dragon orbs from cash shops so they wouldn't have to keep refining everytime they get new equipment.

I'd say the game is about 70% done and is gonna stay that way for a loooong time.

You most commonly call it your "Bag" or "Pack" therefore "B" is a better representation of items stored. "WASD" is for sure the most common used movement controls in games. As is "W" and right clicking to move. Also there is click here to move, again one of the most, if not THE most common forms of movement. that offers a fairly wide veriety of options for movement. "M" for map is default. I see nothing different from most MMO's go have a pissy fit on every other game  (almost EVERY game here) with these controls.

If you mean "simple and retarded," you're right.  Any decent game should have the option to change keybindings. Your defensiveness borders on creepy fanaticism - the game is far from perfect, despite what the name may have led you to believe.

I never complained about "M" or "B" - you're really grasping at straws here. The controls suck, there's no way to change the keybindings, and that's where Perfect World fails, miserably.  It didn't take me long at all to find other free-to-play games with more features, including customizable controls.

 well don't have a fit over something simple. you have many options of control. so what if like 5 people like using different controlls. The game isn't even fully developed yet. How do you know they won't put remapping in there. You totally evaded the point. It has the regular controlls of almost any and every game you can think of. If you could remap, what would you change? using arrow keys instead of WASD or the mouse. Whoop. who cares. Go flame the OTHER 80 precent of mmo's and computer games with these controlls or no remapping. 

 you said before  "free games often leave out those nice little extra touches" (remapping) Nice LITTLE EXTRA. should I bold it and underline it? NICE LITTLE LITTLE EXTRA touches. Do you have to cry about it? It's a LITTLE EXTRA touch. Not some huge deal. Not like it's the only game. Even more it is an UNFINISHED game. it is not updated to the asian version it was taken from. They are STILL UPDATING.
