Gotta love the folks that started their first MMO experience with WOW.

WOW is the Mcdonalds of MMORPG's.  We can all talk design and how brilliantly dungeons are done and how brilliant this and that is done but in the end WOW players cannot do the dungeons without mods.  Sad but true.

Spoonfed playing is what I call it.  Yes I played WOW in CB and then 3 years.  I had a great time and love the world.  Max level was something else.  I would wager to say that most dungeons in WOW right now would not have been completed without mods.  Brilliant design ?  I think not.

Endless rep grind so you can do the same dungeon 100 times hoping to get the piece of loot is not a good game design.  The game basically ended up being a huge time sink and you got your award.

I was on a PVP server.  PVP 99.9% of the time is in the BG's.  Although I can still remember all the skellies and fights at BRM and Kara.

What game designers really need to take from WOW is the immersive world.  Absolutely agree.  But other then that keep playing the game and enjoy your endless march in the same dungeon for the 100th time for that precious purple pixel.

Well, after having played a game for 3 years and "had a great time and loved the world", you should sit back and watch the mediocre competition around it before saying silly things.

Just launch Wow and be in its world for a couple of minutes, afterwards launch any other fantasy MMORPG and watch that world, the control of the characters, the behaviour of NPC's, the music, the settings. And then relax and think how can anybody expect to dethrone this thing.

Go to the Wetlands and while standing on the bridge leading to the port let the storm hit you. Just stand still and watch the heavy wind and rainy storms pass by... and let silence come....

This is a game right? No it isn't. It's an MMORPG, it's THE MMORPG. Rest is history of trial and many errors. Hence millions who pay each month to be in it, It being the world of World of Warcraft. Your world you lived in for 3 years.

K lets go through some examples.

Dungeons:

WOW's best dungeons/Instances are much better than any game out there. Prove me wrong. The Deadmines for example is more fun than any other dungeon i've ever played in another MMO.

According to YOU, not to me

The MMO market is about 15million people. 11 million play WOW, so the vast majoirty of players agree with me. What gives the minority the right to think the majority are fools for believing this. Ok think of this. I'm an atheist. I don't believe in god, but the majoirtiy of the world do believe in god. I think all the believers are dumb for believing. How does that make you feel when i say that? Ignorant? Well thats how WOW players feel when we are told we are carebears for likeing this game.

Hmmm.. well to prove my quality != quantity logic.. there were probably less or atleast 4 million people that played MMORPGs before WoW. Therefore, WoW only brung in the other 11 million subs off the streets which would mean these people have no experience what so ever in previous MMOs and were most likely subjected by pure hype. Therefore on my list of quality, they are pretty damn low.

So, again.. Quality != Quantity.

As i'm SURE it has been pointed out.

People need to ACCEPT WoW  is the best.

EXCEPT is not the word you want to use.

Just had to point that out for the sake of the English language.

I, too, am an atheist, and I think your dumb for thinking people that believe in god are dumb. Its their choice, like it's my choice to not like WoW. Now quit trying to force the issue and go play your favorite fucking game.

Blizzard should put warning: possibility of addiction in the cover of this game.

Seriously

I play WoW. I play WAR. I play LOTRO. I play CoH/CoV. Heck I even load up my EQ account from time to time. I have a full-time job and a wife to take care of.

Regardless WoW is not the "BEST" MMORPG as the OP proclaim. That is a personal choice and can't be forced on others. What he can state is that is it the most successfull MMORPG though. That would make for a more valid point.

However the lack of intelligence the entire 15 pages of posts now sum up show the standard MMORPG.com fanboism. I got a awesome idea! Those of you who love WoW so much you can't stand any other games, go play WoW to your hearts content and have as much fun in WoW as I do, or even more! And to all those of you who utterly dislike WoW, go play whichever MMORPG you love and have as much in that game as I would probably do too! (since I most likely already do play it)

Diversity is the key to success in the MMORPG genre. Something fanbois and trolls will never understand. Please try to think... Please try to use your brain. The day there is only ONE MMO left in the world and no competition, is the day that the MMORPG genre will utterly cease to exist.

I see so much WOW hate. I've played some great MMO's, but none come close to the overall package of WOW.

I loved Neocrons dark atmospheric world that reminded me of Blade Runner.

I loved the vast open sandbox of SWG, and the player housing.

I'm currently loving LOTRO.

However no game has ever had the same effect of my that WOW did when i first started playing. I've never spent so much time in a game. It's to put simply a class act. The world always draws me back, and it's the best most detailed game world ever created in a MMO.

Most people who dislikes the game, only dislike it because it's cool to dislike WOW, much like President Bush. This video sums up perfectly what a great game WOW was and still is:
