I don't wanna keep banging about how much WAR looks like WoW, because that's not the point, and I don t care either.

The issue though is the fact that WAR to me doesn't feel like a complete MMORPG, but more like a PvP expansion of another MMO.
What I am saying is NOT that there isn't any PvE at all or that there is only PvP in this game.
What I am saying is the balance is so shifted towards the PvP/RvR aspect of the game, that the PvE is almost irrelevant and not really noticeable.

I played WAR for 8 months in Beta, but didn't buy the game, because to me the gameplay got too repetitive, due to poor PvE implementation, it doesn't feel like a living and breathing world.
There is one thing WAR does really good, and that's the RvR/PvP (although Scenarios looks too much like Battlegrounds)
Apart for that the game doesn't offer too much in diversity and entertainment, and certainly longevity is not one of its strongest point, at least not for me (but I noticed the ever increasing number of posts of people getting bored with it)

So I was thinking that WAR would be perfect as a WoW expansion (or insert any game which is lacking in PvP), but unfortunately it is not going to be a blockbuster MMORPG, because simply it misses too many good features to make it a stand alone game, and to me it doesn't offer a good alternative to what's on the market at the moment.

This game will settle on about 200-300K subscribers, which is not bad and very profitable, but this is not the next big thing by any means.

Nostalgia is bad.

I think I know where you're coming from. I've only been playing a few days and I've only levelled up to 7 but so far it just doesn't feel distinctive enough. I don't really feel like I'm playing a new game, although the RvR is new to me. I was expecting something more original.

I'm sorry.. due to moderator smackdown, I am not allowed to tell you how I really feel.

So, I'll do this as quickly as possible.  You say WAR is repetative, WoW isn't?

WoW is PvE with PvP tacked on, with no RvR to speak of.

WAR is PvP and RvR at it's core, with solid, no grinding(compared to WoW) PvE tacked on.

If anything, I could see fanbois calling it WoW 2, but certainly not an expansion pack.

This game has far more than 300k subscribers at this point, and it is growing.  No, it won't be as big as WoW, it simply won't command the attention of the eastern markets.  But, I do believe WAR will land a few million subs and do very well for itself.  I'm sorry to inform you.. but this pretty much IS the next big thing.  It is certainly more marketable than anything coming out in the next 5 years.

I don't consider grinding a dungeon for 6 months entertainment.. especially when you know that you'll just be grinding another dungeon for 6 months after you're done with the first one.  Some people like meaning with their gameplay, not just an endless pursuit to get more phat lootz.

Have to agree with you guys.

It does what it does very well, but for me I need my MMOs to convince me I'm in a living world - War just doesn't do this, as it feels like everything is set up, placed and nothing is natural.

They went too far in removing the 'fluff' and spaces between spaces.

'War is everywhere!' Mythic say, well to create the feeling of a living world, 'War' needs to be contrasted with quiet areas.

Its a shame because the Warhammer world is a great place rich in lore, but WAR the game feels more like a one way train ride through selected zones.

Wouldnt judge it as wow expansion but the whole game feels like an exceptional add on .The game is good but you keep wondering where is the original content of the game

I think you can't read properly my friend.
Before replying read the threads properly.

Firstly I know very well that WoW is mainly a PvE (which is also why is so succesful), and that's for this reason that I suggest WAR would be like a good PvP/RvR expansion, because WoW lacks a bit of good PvP.

Secondly the reason why WAR gets so boring after a while is because it doesn't have a good PvE, 80% of action is focused on PvP/RvR battles with little else to do, hence the gameplay is really limited, much more limited than most of the other MMORPG, therefore to me is more like an expansion pack rather than a complete MMORPG.

Regarding the numbers, WAR sold 500K at launch and currently is bleeding customers left and right, as you might have notice from the ever increasing posts about people being bored of WAR.
Even EA predicted around 250K subscribers after few months, and I believe they are spot on.
We talk about this in a couple of months, and you will see I was right.

Also, you seems a bit delusional to think WAR is the next big thing, no less than the AoC fanboys who still think AoC is the next big thing.
Go back to play WAR, I am genuinely happy you like it, although I believe that in 2-3 months you' ll be playing the next big thing, like anybody else that at the moment think WAR is a ton of fun............

Mark my words, this is not intended as a flame, it is a prediction ;)

PS: Also don t forget I tested WAR for 8 months, so I played much more than most of the people who is playing it now, I am not jumping to conclusion after playing until level 10.......
